You (354DC)

You (354DC) is a light-medium, warmer plum base (almost coppery) with flecks of sparkle and shimmer that gave it more of a pink-to-copper shift paired with a sparkling, metallic finish. The texture felt more emollient, almost cream-like, with a moderately-dense press, but when used, it was somewhat chunky and was harder to apply.

I had difficulty picking up product evenly with a dry brush and then greater difficulty applying it evenly, and I tried pressing/patting it into place, but I got a lot of fallout and uneven coverage. I would highly recommend applying it with a fingertip, as even a dampened brush wasn’t quite getting the end result I’d expect. This shade, once on, stayed on decently for eight and a half hours with light fallout over time.

Formula Overview

$29.00/0.08 oz. - $362.50 Per Ounce

The majority of the brand's eyeshadows are quite pigmented, blendable, and long-wearing. The eyeshadows have improved over time, particularly with respect to longevity (without a primer). The original formula often creased on me within seven to eight hours, whereas the more current formula wears eight to nine hours with fading (instead of full-on creasing). The more matte finishes tend to be a bit more velvety, substantial, and less dry/powdery compared to prior iterations.

The metallic finish is often the creamiest, slightly denser in feel, but has excellent pigmentation, adhesion, and blendability. The sparkling shades can have some fallout, depending on how they're applied and how sparkly they are, so they sometimes work better with fingertips or a dampened brush; they can also run sheerer compared to other finishes.

Cream-Powders are the more unique formulation and tend to have firmer, almost stiff, consistencies and more semi-opaque, watercolor-esque coverage. They are longer-wearing, but they can take a few uses to learn how to use. This formula has also improved compared to when it first debuted--it is a bit more yielding now.

Are (355CM)

Are (355CM) is a medium, rosy mauve with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. I felt like it looked a bit cooler applied and blended out, particularly if used over primer. The texture was smooth, velvety, and lightly creamy as the brand’s newer matte shades tend to be, though it was a little powdery in the pan so I’d recommend applying less than usual to avoid fallout (at least, initially). It had rich color coverage and wore well for eight and a half hours.

My (356CM)

My (356CM) is a dark, muted burgundy with cooler undertones and a matte finish. It had opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which applied fairly evenly to bare skin and blended out without difficulty.

I noticed it was easiest to work with over a primer or a more matte finish as it seemed slightly more prone to reacting to natural oils/wetness. The texture was smooth, velvety, and not too powdery nor too firmly-pressed into the pan. It lasted well for nine hours before fading noticeably.

True (357M)

True (357M) is a light peach with warm, more orange undertones and a metallic sheen. It had nearly opaque color payoff that applied well to my skin and diffused with little effort. The texture was soft, lightly creamy, and moderately dense but not too stiff, so it picked up well with a dry brush. It stayed on well for nine hours before fading a bit.

Love (358M)

Love (358M) is a medium, pink-coral with finer, pink and gold pearl that gave it a more pearl-like finish–not quite metallic but not frosted either as the particle size was fine.

The texture was smooth to the touch, lightly creamy without being too thick or too firmly-pressed into the pan. It had nearly opaque color payoff that applied evenly to bare skin and blended out well. It wore nicely for eight and a half hours before fading a bit.

That first shade, You, looked tricky even in the pan. It would have been so much better as a shimmer shade, to round the other ones out, in terms of colour.
This palette reminds me of the Maybelline Burgundy Bar – although that one has more champagne and soft taupe shades. I love your eye look Christine.

awww, it’s like zendo, the medium metallic color gets hard pan easily πŸ™
I have to remove the first layer whenever I want to use it after a while bc it gets hard panned like.. per 2-3 uses? other than that, the quality is great!

or maybe ppl have tips for dealing with hard pan?

Johanna Zamora Avatar

Very pretty and an accessible price point, but I think I will go with the Pat McGrath quad. I know they aren’t the same, but after the Joya palette (and I am happy with my 3 other palettes by ND) I am dubious about consistency.

i got this through Beautylish (thank goddess for them) & am in loveeee! this color story speaks to me aesthetically and i already want larger pans/am thinking about buying a backup.
her .08 oz size pans are too big for me but she really downsized with these. for half the price of her regular 5-pans, i was expecting half the pan size. but alas, they’re .028oz each..
honestly though, this is the most stunning v-day launch i think i’ve ever seen. it could just be that it speaks to my aesthetic but even the lipstick is just perfect. nothing is too much/overboard, it’s all beautifully understated πŸ’—πŸ’œπŸ’—

thanks for the review, Christine! gorgeous look as always 😘
