Natasha Denona Burnt Terracotta/Green (1) Duo Chrome Top Coat

Burnt Terracotta/Green (1)

Natasha Denona Burnt Terracotta/Green (1) Duo Chrome Top Coat ($28.00 for 0.20 oz.) is a bright, medium orange-copper base with gold-to-green shifting shimmer. It had buildable color payoff rom semi-sheer to fully opaque (two to three layers with a brush or one layer with a fingertip). The texture was lightly creamy and felt smoother and was easier to use on the lid (with a brush or with fingertips) than the other two shades released in the same formula. The eyeshadow applied well to bare skin and stayed on for nine hours without fallout.

It's supposed to be a long-wearing, cream-powder hybrid that "applies like a sheer cream and sets" so it "won't fade, smudge, or settle into creases." The brand is silent on coverage but Sephora listed it as buildable from "sheer to semi-sheer," while Beautylish lists to "tap onto skin with your finger for intense payoff" and "a brush for a more subtle effect." The latter was what I read prior to testing, which I found mostly true--the color payoff was semi-sheer and buildable, often to full coverage if applied with fingertips or layered with a brush. I had trouble building up Lavender/Gold and Silver, as it was chunkier overall. The wear was eight to nine hours without creasing and slight fallout over time. I wish the texture was creamier, though, as I felt like they could have been easier and more forgiving to use if they were.

Natasha Denona Brown Mauve/Purple (2) Duo Chrome Top Coat

Brown Mauve/Purple (2)

Natasha Denona Brown Mauve/Purple (2) Duo Chrome Top Coat ($28.00 for 0.20 oz.) is a medium, copper with warm, brown undertones and sparkle that shifted from pink to violet. The texture was lightly creamy, but it felt more like a densely-packed powder than a cream eyeshadow to me (I think if it was just a bit creamier, it would be easier to work with and more versatile). It had semi-sheer, buildable pigmentation (up to opaque if used with fingertips) that blended out fairly well and lasted for nine hours on me with minimal fallout.

Natasha Denona Lavender/Gold and Silver (3) Duo Chrome Top Coat

Lavender/Gold and Silver (3)

Natasha Denona Lavender/Gold and Silver (3) Duo Chrome Top Coat ($28.00 for 0.20 oz.) is a soft, periwinkle blue with a grayish cast and glitter that shifted from silver to gold. It had sheer to semi-sheer coverage, and the consistency felt drier and chunkier, which made it harder to apply evenly. I had some issues with the product going on and flaking away as I tried to blend it onto the skin. Overall, I felt like this could only be applied with fingertips, and due to the larger sparkles, there was little precision. It wore well for eight and a half hours with slight fallout over time.

The brown mauve/purple would be my preference of the three. Christine, if worn as a ‘top coat’, would certain shades underneath enhance or reduce the duo chrome?

Your eyelook with these products is lovely, Christine.

It would honestly depend on the thickness, texture, and formula of whatever you layer over. If these were creamier and thicker on their own, I think they’d have a more consistent change, but it will entirely depend on what they’re layered over.

Yes! Haha, I just did a search this morning hoping you would have these swatches and it wasn’t up just yet. Awesome. I love the idea of these (who doesn’t love sparkle?), but ND’s products are just too expensive for me to justify on a “low buy” year. Besides, I was so, soooo disappointed in her black eyeshadow single and seeing pans fall out of palettes that I just don’t know if I can feel good about giving her company my money. Quality control and consistency is important.

Having said that. Burnt terracotta/green is so damn beautiful.

I’m totally loving the looks of #1 and #2! Hopefully, these will have testers in-store, because even though I purportedly already own 2 dupes for #1 in Buxom Rose Gold and CP Flipper, I’m just not seeing all that close of a similarity. Idk? Could just be how each one photographs. That’s why I’d love to swatch Flipper and RG next to it, just to make sure.

I wish these were different colors… I feel like duochrome pigments are always the same: pink/orange, blue/brown, purple/silver, pink/gold, orange/green-gold, etc… I guess it’s limited based on the ingredients or oxides, but I feel like once you have a few duo combinations you have them all. Impressed with Impulse Cosmetics. They are the only brand I know of that truly have a comprehensive duochrome range.

I feel like I have a ton of these exact shades already from various indies at a fraction of the cost. I know I have at least three that are very close to the first one. These are pretty, but holy cow, the pricetag!

Wow that stinks on the lavender…wonder if you got a dud? I had no issues with mine and it felt the same as the green/brown. Used my finger and smooked it right on lol love your reviews…thank you!
