Year of the Dog

Chantecaille Year of the Dog Poudre Lumeire ($42.00 for 0.08 oz.) is a soft, ultra-light beige with subtle pearl that shifted very slightly from pink to lavender, a few multi-colored sparkles that translated to a lightly luminous sheen on the skin.

The formula is described as “sheer and buildable” with “long lasting” wear. It had more medium coverage that was buildable to mostly opaque coverage with two layers. The powder had an incredibly velvety, finely-milled, and silky texture that was lightweight while still having a substantial, creamier feel (not a thin or dusty powder at all), which made it enjoyable to use as the powder blended out effortlessly on cheeks and sat well without appearing flat or dry but did not emphasize my skin’s natural texture either. For someone who prefers their highlighters on the subtle end of the spectrum (but still wants a little oomph), this could fit the bill. It wore well for eight and a half hours on me before fading noticeably.

I really hope I have a chance for this at Mecca. So many breathtakingly beautiful LE items are released by luxury brands and It’s so frustrating to know you never have a chance at them, lol. I might just do some damage and get it shipped over to me if not though, it’s just so beautiful.

If it’s in the same packaging that I have in a couple of other Chantecaille products, it’s not nearly as sturdy as the Dior silver packaging, if you’ve seen and felt the Dior silver packaging. It’s still pretty, but not as luxe feeling, if that makes sense.

Shocker; I absolutely love it! When I looked at the side-by-side with the Milani dupe, I saw more glowy goodness with the Chantecaille highlight. As I scrolled down, I saw that I have had Laura Geller’s version on my WL forever, too! Now, which one will be “the one” is the question; Laura Geller Diamond Dust (powder) vs. Chantecaille Year Of The Dog?!?

Yup. Canis Lupus. I clicked over, and the imprint is the same as their protect the wolves eye trio. You must admit that Chantecaille has some very beautiful imprints and excellent eco-causes to support. Wonder if they do this for every Zodiac animal? Not to gross people out, but i’d kill for (can we still say that without intervention?) any of their products with an imprint for year of the rat.

I have a lot of the Chantecaille collections and recognized the re-use of the wolf imprint, but not bothered by it overall. I’ve always loved their quarterly releases and the charities they bring attention to. I’d love to see some of their older collections make a reappearance. Sadly I shattered my La Corail and La Baleine palettes.

This is their first ‘Year of’ product KJH. I’ll be interested to see if they do it again. Armani has been doing a ‘Year of’ highlight for the past three years – I have the Monkey and Rooster versions. Not sure if I’ll get the dog from Armani. The powder is the same each year, but the design imprint changes. It is a lovely, soft glow though. I think you have a few years to wait to see if they do Rat if my calendar knowledge is accurate. I think next year is Piggies!

They’re Ted Baker Fuchsia Drop Earrings, which I bought in store recently, but I haven’t been able to find the pink online, just the bronze 🙁 I don’t see any of the recent pieces related to the earrings on Nordstrom so hopefully, they’ll hit other retailers soon!

I don’t need another highlighter. I don’t another highlighter. I don’t need another highlighter. Who cares? I gotta have this one. Everything about it says — Take me home, pretty please!

PS I recently got on a small elevator with a man and his dog. I said to him: That’s the largest husky mix I’ve ever seen. He said: He’s a wolf. I told him that is as close as I’ve ever been to a wolf (like 3 feet!) He said: That’s what most folks say. Lord, it was BIG. And just sweet as he could be. Meeting a wolf up close and personal is now officially off my bucket list.

Did not check the price when reading, and estimated it at 64 USD. Ultra LE, UHE. So I OVERESTIMATED it, by 22 and convinced myself it wasn’t as bad as I thought! Now, that is truly nuts. When I clicked over, I found they have blush godets, not imprinted, for 24. I can’t imagine what this line is in Australia or Canada. Yow!

KJH – Chantecaille went to refillable packaging a long time ago, so the refill are truly that, refills that you can put in one of their pebbles (compact) or a refillable palette (either theirs or some other). I’ve been a fan of theirs for years and they have always but supportive of environmental causes and the move toward refillable products fit into their ethos and made the actual product more affordable (within reason of course). The blushes with the imprint are new as of 2018 – typically they focus on one cause per quarter. I love that they are integrating it into the permanent color line! As I said – big fan!

This is $57 here (plus taxes) and only available about a 45 to 1 hour drive from me so even though it’s nice, I will pass. My 2018 makeup resolution is that if a company makes it difficult for me to buy a product in person, they won’t get my business.

Lea Avatar

The physical compact is refillable though if that was at all a question – I’m guessing Christine answered the part you wanted though re: the pan.

This look is lovely on you, Christine! You wear soft shades really well! And I adore the earrings; so much so, that I have to go check tonight in store! 🙂

I would have thought that a powder highlighter with a dog(!) imprinted on it would be the ultimate beauty item that I absolutely must have. My favorite things!! Sadly this is just too light and subtle, have to pass 🙁

I have a pre-order in at Saks and it has an expected ship date of no later than 3/8. Chantecaille doesn’t have it up on their site as of yet, but I’m watching for it. I can’t wait to get my hands on it!

I am very interested in their new Philanthropy blushes! I saw an ad in InStyle and it said these would be available February! I tore out the page and have it sitting on my bedside table : ) Let me know when you receive your Year of the Dog Poudre Lumeire if you think about it please!
