Coral

Natasha Denona Coral Eyeshadow Palette 5 ($48.00 for 0.4 oz.) is a cohesive mix of pink/red-leaning shads; they coordinated well together and were easy to apply together. There were two matte shades and three more metallic shades. All five shades had good pigmentation, blendability, and wore for nine hours on me, though the mattes were slightly powdery (mostly in the pans).

Kai (244M)

Kai (244M) is a light-medium peach with warm, orange undertones and a pearly sheen. It was bright and reflective, but it wasn’t quite metallic to my eye unless it was applied with a wet brush. The consistency was soft, smooth, and more firmly-pressed in the pan, just not to the point that it became difficult to pick up with a brush. The opaque pigmentation lasted well for nine hours on me before showing signs of fading.

Formula Overview

$29.00/0.08 oz. - $362.50 Per Ounce

The majority of the brand's eyeshadows are quite pigmented, blendable, and long-wearing. The eyeshadows have improved over time, particularly with respect to longevity (without a primer). The original formula often creased on me within seven to eight hours, whereas the more current formula wears eight to nine hours with fading (instead of full-on creasing). The more matte finishes tend to be a bit more velvety, substantial, and less dry/powdery compared to prior iterations.

The metallic finish is often the creamiest, slightly denser in feel, but has excellent pigmentation, adhesion, and blendability. The sparkling shades can have some fallout, depending on how they're applied and how sparkly they are, so they sometimes work better with fingertips or a dampened brush; they can also run sheerer compared to other finishes.

Cream-Powders are the more unique formulation and tend to have firmer, almost stiff, consistencies and more semi-opaque, watercolor-esque coverage. They are longer-wearing, but they can take a few uses to learn how to use. This formula has also improved compared to when it first debuted--it is a bit more yielding now.

Lyria (245CM)

Lyria (245CM) is a light-medium, pink-coral with warm undertones and a matte finish. It had nealry opaque pigmentation in a single layer, which was easily built up to full coverage with less than half of a layer m ore. The eyeshadow had a soft, smooth consistency that was almost velvety due to the more substantial feel of it, but there was some powderiness in the pan and a touch of fallout during application if I wasn’t careful to tap off excess. It stayed on nicely for nine hours before fading noticeably.

Abalone (246DC)

Abalone (246DC) is a bright, peachy-pink base with blue-to-violet shifting sparkle and shimmer paired with a sparkling, metallic finish. It had a soft, yielding texture that was lightly creamy, thicker without being too densely packed in the pan, and I didn’t have any issues with the product emphasizing lid texture. The color had opaque coverage in a single layer, which adhered well to bare skin. It wore well for nine hours on me before creasing slightly.

Dakota (247CM)

Dakota (247CM) is a medium, reddish-brown with warmer undertones and a matte finish. It had excellent pigmentation with a soft, velvety texture that was slightly powdery in the pan and had a touch of fallout during application if I wasn’t careful. The eyeshadow applied evenly and blended out without difficulty. The color lasted nicely for nine hours on me before fading noticeably.

Lola (248M)

Lola (248M) is a deep, reddened copper with warm undertones and a metallic finish that had pink and gold micro-sparkle throughout. It was intensely pigmented with a smooth, cream-like texture that was dense, a bit thicker, but it applied evenly and smoothly on my bare lid without emphasizing my skin’s texture. It stayed on well for nine hours before fading a touch.

I submitted Pont des Arts from Viseart Paris Nude palette as a dupe for Kai. When using “Comparing any two” swatches, the two side by side seem to be 95% similar. The only difference I can see is that the swatch for Viseart Pont des Arts is darker (skin + shade), whereas Natasha Denona’s Kai swatch is lighter (skin + shade). It must be due the lighting I think.

It is a lovely palette – the shades do work so well together and of course you can add in different shades from others in your stash. If you like these colours and don’t have any other ND offerings, this could be perfect for you. Beautiful eye look Christine.

This is a beautiful looking palette, the colours spoke to me right away! But I can probably dupe a lot of these and I think its a bit expensive for what it is. It’s not getting the best reviews on the Sephora site so far and I’m a bit surprised!

I pretty much bought it for that one color with the kai, nothing I tried compared to them 🙁 but it’s totally beautiful.. I used the retrograde from Huda Desert Dusk Palette with it.
