Threesome

NARS Threesome Blush ($30.00 for 0.16 oz.) is a very pale pink with cooler undertones and a matte finish. It had good pigmentation, not quite opaque but buildable, that went on evenly. The powder was soft, a smidgen dusty in the pan, but it applied easily to the skin and blended out without looking dusty or chalky on me. I noticed that the color darkened and appeared much warmer when I applied it to my cheeks (my arm is incredibly dry, my face is normal-to-dry), which made it more noticeable and wearable on my skin tone, despite it being such a light shade in the pan. It wore well for seven and a half hours before fading.

From NARS’ website, their blush formula is described as “beautifully pigmented” and “soft [and] blendable.” NARS' blushes, since they've been released in such a massive range of shades over the years, can vary from shade to shade to some degree. Most shades are pigmented with firmer, slightly stiffer consistencies that can also run on the thinner side, which allows greater control when picking up product but some of the more matte shades could be a bit more blendable or easier to work with.

Some of the more newly-released shades have softer, more yielding textures that are a bit creamier and are easier to blend out, though most of NARS' blushes are fairly blendable. The wear typically ranges from eight to nine hours with a few shades falling above or below this range.

Misconduct

NARS Misconduct Blush ($30.00 for 0.16 oz.) is a muted, medium-dark plum with subtle, cooler undertones paired with warmer, gold pearl. It had semi-opaque, buildable color coverage with a smooth, slightly firmer, thinner texture. The texture was firm enough that it never felt dusty when I was using it, but it could have been a little easier to blend out on the cheeks. If I put a dusting of translucent powder on my cheeks prior to applying, it blended out easily. If there was any natural oil (bare skin) or dampness (foundation, moisturizer, etc.), it had a tendency to stick more heavily to some places and would not blend out as well. The blush lasted for eight hours on me.

Peep Show

NARS Peep Show Blush ($30.00 for 0.16 oz.) is a bright pop of pink-coral with warm undertones and a matte finish. The powder was finely-milled, but it was pressed more firmly into the pan, so it was a thinner texture overall. It had good pigmentation, which could easily be applied for true-to-pan intensity and full coverage with just a touch more product layered on top. The blush applied decently, but it took more effort to diffuse and blend it out on my skin. I noticed signs of fading after eight hours of wear.

I bought Peep Show on a whim when I had a voucher and I’m glad to say it’s not an impulse purchase that I regret! Corals can sometimes pull really orange on me and this one stays pretty true to the colour in the pan for me.

Actually, I just used the Tapered Blush brush from Ecotools. For some reason, I actually like that brush over some of my more expensive ones and always use it unless it’s a super pigmented and bright/dark blush that I know I need to be judicious with. Then I tend to go for my Sigma spotlight duster.

I didn’t really notice it being harder to blend than my other Nars blushes, but I don’t wear foundation so it’s just going on after a silicone based MUFE primer and then a Chanel loose powder. Maybe that combination creates enough slip that the blush didn’t cling.

I bet the loose powder helps 🙂 I test blush (and other cheek products) over bare skin, but I don’t powder or use primer beforehand – but in general, I find laying down powder first to be the best trick to help a finicky powder product blend better!

Thanks for saving me money. Usually not into the general S/S colorways, but misconduct looked promising. Have ferocious and always wanted TMI. Checked dupes for TMI, and quit on #6! Reminding me why I never quite fell for it…..and why misconduct would be a def overduplication in stash. Whew! You like what you like and sometimes you like it a tad too much….

Heh, I’ve liked something so much that I’ve accidentally bought the same shade twice! That happened with more than 1 item and now I keep a list on my phone.

UGH – those names! I was hoping that Hourglass’s embracing of the lovely and inspiring names for their Girl Stylos might spur other companies to abandon the “risque” names for products. Nars is hardly a “teenage” or cheap brand. Quite the opposite – I tend to think of it as a sophisticated brand and have always been put off by names like Orgasm and Deep Throat etc. I was hoping that when they started using the names of planet moons (Callisto, Dione, Himalia), that signaled a change. Hope balloon punctured. I guess maybe we’re supposed to be comforted that at least it’s not “Gross Misconduct”.

I like Misconduct, but have dupes and it looks a bit pissy to apply. Peep show completely reminds me of Tom Ford Flush, the original (and better) version. It’s a great colour in summer when I have a bit of colour on my skin.

Peep Show is the only one popping out at me! That one is so pretty and springtime fresh! But the application issues, though. I might try to locate a pan of that Nyx Tuscan dupe instead.

I got misconduct a week ago and noticed that it was incredibly sheer compared to all my other nars blushes, though I haven’t noticed the blending issues you mentioned. it really does seem like a very pretty, spring-y color !

Oh, Threesome is pretty. It went to the wishlist. I generally like NARS blushes, well the few I have, but the other two are easy to skip, as I like easily blendable blushes. that’s one part of the makeup I want to do quickly with as little fuss as possible.

Lol these names! 😀

How would you say Threesome compares to NARS’ Gaiety? What about Peepshow to Gilda? Gilda is one of my fav blushes, but I heard it’s been discontinued :/ I’ve hit pan on mine, and it’ll probably last me nevertheless a really long time, but I’m still keeping an eye out for possible dupes 🙂

Every NARS blush I’ve tried has looked super glitter-stripper-tastic on me, but your review here says matte. Makes me inclined to maybe want to try again … though the dusty review makes me second guess my second guess.

Ugg, these names! Enough already, NARS. But, I have a complete obsession with any pale, barely-there pink with cool leanings, so “greaterthanonesome” may have to sneak into my collection. I will no doubt have to black out the name on the bottom as my 15 year old daughter loves to borrow blush and this isn’t something I wan’t to try to explain. Thanks, NARS.

Do you know when these will become unavailable?. I don’t like shopping online and I can’t visit a Nars counter until mid April. I don’t want to wishlist Threesome now for it to become impossible to get later…

They usually last until sold out or maybe 2 months after they launch? It’s really hard to say, though!
