Sweet Revenge is described as a “sheer pink grapefruit.” It’s a softened, medium pink with warm undertones and champagne shimmer. It had semi-opaque color coverage (you can see how well it hides my lip freckle) but still has some translucency that allows the natural lip color to come through. (Yet again, the description says “sheer,” but it’s not sheer and certainly much more pigmented than other glosses in the range!) It applied evenly, and the hue wore well for four and a half hours. NARS Super Orgasm (P, $26.00) is pinker, more shimmery. NARS Tasmania (P, $26.00) is lighter. NARS Belize (P, $26.00) is creamier–a little lighter. MAC Be Nice (P, $22.00) is warmer. Maybelline Caramel Infused (065) (P, $8.99) is less shimmery. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Chihuahua is described as a “sheer guava.” It’s a medium, warm-toned, pinky-coral with a creamy finish. It had semi-sheer color coverage, applied evenly for the most part, and had only minor settling into lip lines (the kind not really noticeable from a normal viewing distance). The color lasted for three and a half hours. It is really just slightly darker and less shimmery compared to Sweet Revenge–the two are very similar on. NARS Super Orgasm (P, $26.00) is darker, pinker, more shimmery. NARS Tasmania (P, $26.00) is lighter. NARS Stolen Kisses (P, $26.00) is warmer. NARS Belize (P, $26.00) is a touch lighter. MAC Be Nice (P, $22.00) is warmer. Chanel Pink Pivoine (88) (LE, $27.00) is sheerer. Urban Decay Flushed (P, $19.00) is cooler-toned, darker. Maybelline Caramel Infused (065) (P, $8.99) is similar. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Ophelia is described as a “strawberry nectar.” It’s a medium-dark, peachy-coral with pink and gold shimmer. It had semi-sheer color payoff, which noticeably darkened and added warmth to the lips, plus a lot of visible shimmer. It wore well for three and a half hours on me. NARS Salamanca (P, $26.00) is redder, less shimmery. MAC Flare for Fantasy (LE, $20.00) is lighter. Marc Jacobs Beauty Heart Shaped (308) (P, $28.00) is pinker. Guerlain Frizzy Mango (LE, $32.00) is darker. Bobbi Brown Citrus (P, $24.00) is more sparkly. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Dolce Vita is described as a “sheer dusty rose.” It’s a medium-dark, rosy pink with neutral-to-cool undertones and a creamy, glossy finish. It had mostly opaque color coverage–one of the more pigmented shades in the range–and applied evenly (seriously, why are the more opaque shades described as “sheer?”). It wore well for five hours on me. Of all the glosses, Dolce Vita seemed to be the one that was most changed that I could discern (I have nine of the original shades, not all)–the actual undertone of it shifted from warm to neutral-to-cool-toned. It’s still a very pretty shade, but I don’t appreciate the significant color change–the difference is most noticeable when applied. Paul and Joe Beaute Carnaval (06) (P, $29.00) is lighter, warmer. Maybelline Captivating Carnation (080) (P, $8.99) is lighter. Maybelline Mauve Mystique (025) (P, $8.99) is lighter, more muted. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Stella is described as a “muted raspberry.” It’s a medium-dark, warm-toned pink with pink and red shimmer. It had almost semi-opaque color payoff with noticeable translucency that let the natural lip color come through. It applied evenly, smoothly, and wore well for four and a half hours. MAC Galaxy Rose (LE, $20.00) is brighter. MAC Astral (LE, $20.00) is darker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

NARS Lipgloss ($26.00 for 0.18 fl. oz.) has been reformulated, and the new formulation will launch on April 15th with 30 permanent shades–seven are new and permanent, 23 are shades that were available in the previous formula. NARS says the new formula is supposed to have “longer, more comfortable wear,” while being hydrating and smoothing with a “silky texture.” The texture is thin, somewhat tacky (the more shimmery shades seemed slightly tackier than the creamier ones), unscented (and no signs of a plastic, waxy, or crayon-like scent), with two to five hours of wear time, and is moderately hydrating. The formula is thinner and less sticky (5 or 6, compared to an 8 on the original formula, on a 10-point scale), and I found it more comfortable to wear overall. Note, the reformulated glosses are more expensive and contain less product.

The Dolce Vita reminds me a lot of one of the Rimmel Apocalips… but I can’t for the life of me remember the shade. Also, I may have to pick up Ophelia, just because that’s my favourite name of all time.

You recommended dolce vita to me and I see why, its a gorgeous color. Thank you for the recommendation, but I’m unsure if this is worth 25$ I don’t see anything special and I’m not a huge lip gloss fan.

It might just be my browser, but Dolce Vita is reading awfully bright! Maybe I should get one of the old ones before they’d not available anymore?

Dolce Vita is definitely different than it used to be! I have side-by-side comparisons coming up soon, but if you don’t like the brighter, cooler, lighter coloring, then the older color would be more up your alley – however, it is the older formula!

Bummer on the change in Dolce Vita. Of ALL the colors to change why change one of the favorites?!?!?!? Good thing I ordered 6 of the older Dolce Vita last week, seems like they’re limiting it to just 1 now.

What a shame about dolce vita, they should’ve kept the original color. I hate it when companies try to better a product by changing absolutely everything about it.
