NARS Rock with You & Paint It Black Powermatte Lip Pigments Reviews, Photos, Swatches

Rock with You
NARS Rock With You Powermatte Lip Pigment ($26.00 for 0.18 fl. oz.) is a muted, dark burgundy with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. It had good pigmentation, though it was not fully opaque in one layer. The liquid lipstick felt smooth going on with a very thin, fluid quality that did not veer into watery territory, so the coverage was more even despite not being opaque. This shade wore well for five hours and was neither drying nor hydrating.
The new formula is described as “liquefied pigments with infinite matte color saturation for lasting, weightless wear.” It’s supposed to have “full coverage in one swipe” that “dries down instantly” for “smudge-resistant, carefree wear.” The formula has a very fluid consistency that is thin, smooth, but not at all watery, and the majority of shades were nearly opaque or opaque in a single layer. The dry down started quickly but was forgiving as I maneuvered around the edges of the lips but remained a bit tacky when I pressed my lips together for over a half hour later, though as long as I did not press my lips together until five minutes post-application, the color did not lift. I have found the wear to be comfortable so far–non-drying–but not the longest-wearing nor the most budge-proof in liquid lipstick, as just sipping water, tea, or coffee caused color to transfer onto my cups. There was plenty of coverage, so it still lasted through drinking but did start to break down noticeably during a meal. Even just touching the color after a half hour of wearing it yielded color on my fingertips. The formula had a soft, vanilla scent but no discernible taste.

Paint It Black
NARS Paint It Black Powermatte Lip Pigment ($26.00 for 0.18 fl. oz.) is a medium-dark black with warmer undertones–it almost appeared more like a blackened plum on the lips as a result. The consistency was thin, fluid, but it ran a little watery in comparison to most of the shades in the same formula. This made it harder to apply the color evenly and made the product prone to pulling into lip lines. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that lasted for four and a half hours. The formula felt non-drying to me.

I am in such trouble with these…
Uh oh! Will you collect ’em all or pick your faves?
I wanted paint it black to be better 🙁 *cries*
Darn! 🙁
The moment has arrived. A black lipstick that I really like. A lot! Will I buy it? That’s anyone’s guess.?
And then there’s Rock With You; love at first sight! Definitely my kind of very deep burgundy shade, for sure. And an old MJ song title makes this so tempting!
The names are fun!
Very goth lip glosses – a gold metallic shade would look great on top of these.
These are two very deep shades!
Rock with You is stunning! What a gorgeous darker shade! I love the look of the application!
Happy to hear it, Macy!
Rock With You is stunning!
It is a statement lip color!
