NARS Ramatuelle Eyeshadow Trio
NARS Ramatuelle Eyeshadow Trio
NARS Ramatuelle Eyeshadow Trio ($45.00 for 0.15 oz.) consists of a “silver, icy peach, [and] matte apricot” as described by the brand. This is the only limited edition product within the summer collection. I like how NARS’ trios are packaged with three individual wells, which means that there’s less cross-contamination from excess powder. The downside is that the trios are only 0.15 oz., whereas their duos are 0.14 oz.–but the duos are only $34, which is a $11 difference!
The first shade is a light gray with a silver shimmer and subtle silver metallic sheen. It has good color payoff–there’s an underlying sheerness in the swatch, but it is more pigmented when applied to the eye. Tarina Tarantino Lovely has a similar shade that’s a touch lighter and frostier. Guerlain Les Aquas has a similar shade, which has a more metallic finish.
The middle shade is a soft, pale peach with a satiny sheen–it’s a little more amped up and reflective than your average satin, though. The color payoff is good, though there is a touch of sheerness to the color. Tarina Tarantino Delightful has a shade that’s a few shades darker. Inglot #328 is similar in color but is darker. Inglot #330 is very close in color but has a matte finish.
The last shade is a warm, muted orange with a matte finish. This shade was also on the sheerer side, but I didn’t have any problem getting it to show up closer to opaque color when I applied it on the lid, which is not an uncommon result with matte textures. Dolce & Gabbana Cocoa has a shade that’s a bit richer, darker, more orange. MAC Fresh Daily is deeper, brighter. MAC Rule is more orange, darker. Inglot #368 is more tangerine.
NARS’ eyeshadow formula is supposed to be long-wearing, crease-resistant, and highly-pigmented according to their website (and it still drives me batty that they have it listed as “highly-pigminted“). Â NARS’ eyeshadow formula can also be used wet or dry, depending on your preferences. Â I applied the light gray shade to the very inner tearduct, pale peach to the inner half of the lid, and the orange shade on the outer half of the lid and into the crease to test out the wear. Â Without a primer, it wore for eight hours without creasing and just very minor fading around the edges. Â All three shades were easy to apply and blend together; the matte shade is very workable and while it feels dry, it’s just as blendable as the shimmery shades.
This should be very flattering on warm and neutral skin tones, and cooler complexions should still be able to wear this, because of the inclusion of gray as well as the softer, lighter feel of the other two distinctly warm shades.

The third shade is oranger than I expected. Is it close to orange rather than apricot? Can you compare it with Night Star, Mediterranee or Scorching sun eyeshadow?
I don’t have those, but based on old swatches, all of the oranges you mentioned are much more orange, brighter, more vibrant. Night Star looks nearly invisible in the old swatches I have, so it’s hard for me to compare for you – sorry!
hideous colour combination!
I agree!
I wear this combo of oranges all the time. I’d be tempted but I’ve already got similar shade.
This trio looks really pretty and goes well with the whole Tangerine Tango color of the year. Also, I really appreciate when you put together a quick, simple eye look along with swatches. The eye look gives me a better idea of how the colors wear on the natural contours of the eye, and better illustrate how well the colors blend and compliment one another. Thanks!!
Hot look!
You created a lovely look with this eyeshadow trio, I think I have colours similar to these and I will try to recreate it.
Wet’n’Wild makes a (discontinued) 6-pan palette called Greed that has almost the exact same colours with about the same pigmentation (though perhaps a bit more on the powdery side).
Im thinking this trio would look amazing on green eyes… opposite side of the color wheel. What do you think Christine? It just seems that with this trio the colors can be easily duped. idk?
I think it would be nice with green eyes, but I tend to agree that it’s more dupeable than not.
I think this would be beautiful on green and/or hazel eyes, too, but I think it would be absolutely *stunning* on blue eyes.
Although the colours are really pretty, I think I’ll pass on this one; my eyes are far too dark to pull off the apricot shade, and the other two are definitely dupable. Why can’t the quality on the duo be as good?
I have green eyes and have worn orange colors in eye looks, and I can’t say that I feel that it’s a shade that has made my eyes pop or complimented them especially. I tend to head towards the redder oranges, which should be closer to a complimentary color. To elaborate, my eyes are green-gray and tend to work best with plums and teals.
Orange totally doesn’t look bad, it’s just not something I use to play up my eye color.
unrelated to post but can you recommend an occ strutter dupe? it’s dc on occ, i couldn’t buy it. thanks.
Have you tried looking in the swatch gallery? http://www.temptalia.com/swatch-gallery?color=Red&action=Sort&type=156
The new lighting makes your lashes look so gorgeous! Just saying 🙂
It kind of reminds me of Wet n Wild’s Greed palette (I think that’s the right one).
Does this look similar to Mediterranee by any chance?
I don’t think I have that duo, but based on old swatches I did, Mediterranee would be brighter, warmer. Like the lighter shade is more golden, warmer, and the orange shade is much brighter.
Not a bad combination, but the colour payoff seems a bit light…
I like your color placement with the three shades.
will this trio / collection be available at sephora?
Yes!
A very subtle trio from Nars, I have it i’ts perfect for the summer days ! I love the way you used it, really pretty.
I LOVE that you are now doing swatches paired with LOOKS! It’s so much easier to visualize if it is something that I really WANT! I love your site btw! I always look for a review before I make the total commitment of purchasing it!!
*sigh* It’s pretty, I like the combo and the look. I feel like I have so much stashed already I could find a satisfactory substitute, even though I’d love to purchase this!!! I’m kinda sad, I feel like maybe I’m over makeup?? (having a baby really makes you have to re-organize your life!)
I normally would not put silver, peach, and apricot together…but for some reason i really quite like it. I wasn’t expecting to like this trio 🙂
wow christine I saw the trio and thought “my god what awfull colors how do they even go togheter?!” and then i saw the eye look you made, beautiful 🙂
thanks so much for including the shadows on your eyes – it really helps get an even better idea of how these will look!
This would be a beautiful palette if the “orange” shade was a softer coral or peach. The very orange shade detracts from the beauty of the other shades. That shade would keep me from purchasing the palette; I mean, who really looks good in bright orange eyeshadow?
been waiting for this! thx!!!!!
I wasn’t interested in this palette at all at first until I saw the look on NARS model.
silvery/peachy sheen on lid on tan skin is really beautiful and healthy looking.  .
