MAC Shop MAC, Cook MAC: Call Me Bubbles Eyeshadow Quad

MAC Call Me Bubbles Eyeshadow Quad ($38.00 for 0.19 oz.) includes these shades: Call Me Bubbles (light tan), Fresh Daily (orange), Full of Flavour (coral), and Brash (frosty reddish copper).

  • Call Me Bubbles is a light beige with a shimmery finish. The color payoff is decent but there is some underlying sheerness. It has a satin finish–it has more of a frosted look than your average satin. This shade will be a nice highlighter on light-medium to medium skin tones especially. It’s a bit like the shade in Giorgio Armani #1 Madreperla. Urban Decay Skimp is similar but lighter. MAC Bisque is a touch darker and matte.
  • Fresh Daily is a medium orange with a tangerine shimmer-sheen. It has a frost finish that looks a little bit like a satin, too (not quite as shimmery as most frosts). The pigmentation is good, and the texture is soft and smooth. Dolce & Gabbana Cocoa has a similar orange but matte and slightly darker. MAC Rule is similar but matte.
  • Full of Flavour is a brightened coral-pink. It has a matte finish. The texture is soft, just the tiniest bit powdery, and delivers good color payoff. It’s very similar to MAC Early Bird but a tiny bit darker. MAC Free to Be is also similar.
  • Brash is a molten copper with a frosted metallic sheen. It has a veluxe pearl finish. The texture is so soft and smooth, and the resulting color payoff is excellent. Tarina Tarantino Dreamy has a shade that’s a bit more orange, less red. Shades like Urban Decay Baked and MAC Bronze aren’t similar because they’re more gold and bronze, while this is distinctly copper without being too red. This shade is a repromote.

It reminded me a bit of MAC Spring Colour 4 Eyeshadow Quad, which has the same really warm, sunset-ish feel, but it’s definitely different.  This is the warmest palette out of the three.  If you don’t like the way orange tends to look on your skin tone, this is the quad you could easily skip, since two shades have a fair amount of orange in them.  Like the other two quads, the shades included really mesh well.  I like the inclusion of different finishes so you can get more depth out of a look if you only wanted to use the shades included.  You should be able to make a pretty sunset-like eye out of this, though it will have a fair amount of brightness out of it.

Thank you sooo much for this review! I had my eye on this quad out of the three since te the most useable for me, and I don’t really bbe similar colors. I’m so happy to hear the quality holds up and will probably get it right away! It will be great to see one of your looks using it when you have more time. I was worried the orange might be too orange or frosty but it looks amazing!!

If you just like Full of Flavor, I would suggest just buying the single eyeshadow Free Bird which is also a matte brightened coral. It’s still available on the website and is the closest color to Full of Flavor, EB is just a little bit lighter.

I’m excited about this quad! For whatever reason, the colors really appeal to me (I think they really complement each other) and I even love the name. There’s something unique, fun and wearable about this palette.

I love that when a brand comes out with a new collection, I dont have to go to blog, after blog, after blog in search of a good review & swatches. Instead I visit your blog & its much more that any makeup junkie can ask for. Thank you, Christine! You are a life saver 🙂

It’s good to see that MAC has improved on the quality of some of its recent quads. However, I can safely skip this as I’m NW15ish and colours this warm will just look awful on me.

Wow. That’s an interesting palette. I’d love to see a look done with this one, Cristine. The colors are good for you too…..hint, hint

I’m still unsure if I should get this palette. Fresh daily reminds me a lot of Urban Decay’s Jones eyeshadow (maybe Jones is a bit darker), and I already own that one. Most colors look dupeable apart from Brash. Brash is such a unique color, it makes me want to get the quad just for that shade…

This palette is way too warm for me, but it is really pretty. I love the look of Full of Flavor and Brash. Maybe MAC will get it more together this year.

;____; This palette is simply gorgeous.

Really want this, but I’m going to have to be practical and acknowledge whether I’d actually really use it. xD Oranges reel me in, and then I never touch them lol.

Just wanted to drop a note to say thanks for all the work you’ve put into swatching and reviewing these collections this week. It’s a lot of effort and I hope you know how much your audience appreciates it 🙂

Wow, FINALLY a MAC quad that has 4 shades that all perform beautifully… It seems like it has been FOREVER since MAC has come out with a quad worth even considering. I am actually loving this color combo, but will probably skip it as I have so many similar colors. Thianks for the lovely swatches!

Christine, hi

I have never bought a MAC quad, but this one really caught my eye, I just wanna know if the eyeshadow pans are removable and if the palette have the magnets and can be reused? Thanks for your help. Luv your blog!

Hey, christine, I was just wondering if brash is similar to bold and brazen from the star flash collection? i reaaaallly LOVE Brash! it is gorgeous! and i really want the quad but i own free to be and bold and brazen and dont want colors that i dont need.

I just bought it and the pigmentation of all the shades is truly awesome. even the lighter shade is really nice and I found it was a lovely way to unify my lid for a nude look.

I went to swatch full of flavor myself at the Mac store. There was totally no color that came on my hand thought there was quite a lot of Amount on my fingers. This made me reconsider.
