NARS Pasiphae & Telesto Dual-Intensity Eyeshadows Reviews, Photos, Swatches

NARS Pasiphae Dual Intensity Eyeshadow
NARS Pasiphae Dual Intensity Eyeshadow

NARS Pasiphae Dual Intensity Eyeshadow ($29.00 for 0.05 oz.) is described as a “shimmering peacock burgundy.” It’s a muted, medium-brown with lighter olive green shimmer-sheen; it seemed like a duochrome, but it doesn’t really shift noticeably. On the eye, it mostly looks like an olive green over a warmer, murky brown. The texture was soft, blendable, and easy to apply to bare lids, and the color wore for seven hours dry, eight hours damp before fading. Damp application yields much more opaque coverage, whereas dry application is sheer to semi-sheer. Giorgio Armani Green Iron (06) (P, $38.00) is darker, cooler. Gucci Beauty Fumé (Left) (P, ) is lighter, cooler. Too Faced Don’t Settle (LE, $16.00) is cooler. Kat Von D On the Road (P, $16.00) is cooler. bareMinerals Flicker (P, ) is less shimmery, lighter. Make Up For Ever I628 Reptile (P, $21.00) is lighter, warmer. Kat Von D Hexagram (LE, ) is warmer. theBalm Runaround Rebecca (P, $16.00) is more shimmery. Guerlain Coup de Foudre #1 (LE, ) is lighter, warmer. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

NARS Telesto Dual Intensity Eyeshadow ($29.00 for 0.05 oz.) is described as a “brown with gold shimmer.” It’s a medium brown with warm, orange-y undertones and a golden shimmer-sheen finish. Applied dry, it was mostly opaque, just looked lighter and less intense, and then applied damp, it was slightly darker and had a stronger sheen. It lasted for seven hours applied dry, almost eight when applied damp. Zoeva Subtle Blend (P, ) is darker. LORAC Dream Girl #8 (LE, ) is darker. Too Faced Puppy Love (P, ) is darker, cooler. Gucci Beauty Oxydus (P, $37.00) is warmer. ColourPop Eve (LE, $5.00) is darker, brighter, warmer. ColourPop Blaze (LE, $5.00) is warmer. Kat Von D Nephilim (LE, ) is lighter, warmer. Makeup Geek Pretentious (P, $5.99) is darker, warmer. Tarte Keepsake Frame (LE, ) is warmer. Anastasia Gilded (LE, $12.00) is warmer. Make Up For Ever ME658 Golden Brown (P, $21.00) is more shimmery, darker. Make Up For Ever ME644 Iced Brown (P, $21.00) is darker, warmer. Make Up For Ever D640 Golden Snake (P, $21.00) is less shimmery, darker. LORAC Nude #6 (LE, ) is less shimmery, warmer. MAC A Harvest of Greens #2 (P, $21.00) is less shimmery. First 15 dupes listed, see more: See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Formula Summary | NARS Dual Intensity Eyeshadow ($29.00 for 0.05 oz.) is supposed to be sheer when applied dry, opaque when applied with a dampened brush, and this is sometimes true, sometimes not. Some shades are very sheer, while a few were quite pigmented dry. If you aren’t someone who likes to use their eyeshadows wet, then I would say to look elsewhere, but if you like the idea of two types of finishes and color coverage, you may like these. The texture is generally soft, blendable, and smooth, and the wear is average (seven to eight hours).

I had my eyes on Pasiphae, it’s a lovely color, but I’m not seeing any burgundy shift at all 🙁 I already have 2 of dupes (Hello Kitty Don’t Settle & Giorgio Armani Green Iron). I might still get it, as it’s a nice mix of green, brown, and gold.

GASP – they look gorgeous on you, Christine – what a lovely look you’ve made! I really like Pasiphae but have so many of the dupes that I wonder if this would be a worthwhile purchase (if these shadows were a little less spendy, I’d probably get it but they’re so pricey, especially here in Canada). I still think Nars would be wise to make Ursa Major a permanent shade as they’ve nothing even similar in the Dual Intensity permanent line.

I know I need Pasiphae in my life and on my lids! That color looks amazing on you, Christine! It brings out the green outer area of your eyes, so I believe this is very hazel or other multi-tone eye friendly.

Always love your reviews! Thank you so much for your always honest opinion! I love this line from Nars and already own a few colours. I am however a bit in doubt about purchasing these… I must placed an order for the MAC Extra Dimension eyeshadows. Among these are Sea Worship and Havana.

Maybe these are not exact dupes… But am I right (by looking af your pictures) that they are kind of ‘in the same family of colours’?

Thanx formulier help!

Hm… I’ve been planning on getting Green Iron for a while, but I’ll have to see how different it looks from Pasiphae on me. Although it doesn’t have the duo-chrome quality I would have liked, it does look like a very interesting colour.

This Nars collection has been impressive compared to the most recent ones! So far, I am wanting these two shadows ad the blush/highlighter for sure. I am on the fence on the lipstick. Loving the color-not sure on the formula though with the dryness issue.( But, I have figured out how to wear some mac retro mattes with some good lip prep just because I really like the color). I think I may break down and buy it.:D

Christina, I don’t know if I have ever commented on here before. But I check in on your website almost every day! Could you tell me how the shifty one compares to MAC’s Sea Worship?

These are both the kind of colours I’m totally weak for – I think have enough dupes for the brown, but that green! I wish it were more opaque dry though (I know that’s not what they were aiming for, but sheer doesn’t translate well on my naturally much darker than my face eyelids). I’ve been really interested in the Armani Green Iron dupe anyway, so I’ll probably pass.

I’m in love with your eye look. Persiphae is gorgeous, but I do not see any burgundy in it whatsoever. I don’t have any of the dupes, so I’m tempted. The price though…yuck. lol

Huh. Pasiphae is neither peacock nor burgundy to my eyes, but it’s gorgeous nonetheless! Definitely want that, whenever it gets released in the UK. Assuming I can track it down – NARS is one of the brands that is online-only from where I live. I only get to play with testers if I’ve gone into London for something.

Thanks for the wonderful review. I just picked up Pasiphae from strawberrynet.com for $20 (Australian$$) unbelievable!!!! I’m so excited, can’t wait to try this out. It’s not a colour I’d normally wear but I do wear a lot of browns and I think this colour could be a great way to add a bit of a difference and a shakeup to the whole brown thing 😉 my first Nars eyeshadow….

Glad to see these used on brown eyes. Here is my problem: I wanted to buy these two, in particular because I have brown eyes and love the green/brown effect. BUT then I saw the Nars D-I palette and thought maybe I should buy that instead and get more of a variety for the cost. I do own 1 shadow that is in the D-I palette already and the others I pretty much have MAC or Laura Mercier dupes. What do you think? Is the Nars D-I palette permanent? HELP! 😉
