NARS Outer Limits Eyeshadow
NARS Outer Limits Eyeshadow ($25.00 for 0.07 oz.) is described as an “iridescent rose gold.” It’s a softened, medium orange with pink and gold flecks of sparkle and shimmer over a metallic sheen. Burberry Shell (003) (P, $29.00) is lighter. NARS St-Paul-de-Vence (Left) (LE, $24.00) is less sparkly, darker. ColourPop Tea Party (P, $5.00) is less yellow-based. MAC Mortal #2 (LE) is less sparkly. MAC Sun Tweaked (P, $16.00) is less sparkly, less orange. Get comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
The texture of the eyeshadow is very soft and prone to almost crumbling to the touch, so when it is used dry, the product doesn’t bind together as well unless really pressed and patted onto the skin with a fingertip, sponge-tipped applicator, or silicone applicator, but with a brush, it has a tendency to sheer out and cause sparkle to get everywhere. I had more success using it with a dampened brush, as this helped bind the powder and help it apply more smoothly and evenly on the skin without losing all the color and sparkle. With this shade, the pigmentation was similar both wet and dry, but the damp application made it easier to maintain that level of coverage even when blending on the lid. It only lasted for seven hours before creasing, and it did have a noticeable amount of fall out. I would highly recommend using a tacky eyeshadow base or glitter adhesive when using this to minimize fall out and to maximize color payoff.

This is sooooo pretty!
The sparkles are pretty!
This looked so pretty in the pan, but looks pretty meh overall. Kind of a disappointment, but my wallet will be happy!
It does! It desperately needs a helper.
What a beautiful shadow! I really like the color
It is a pretty color!
Aw man, I was like “gotta have it gotta have it gotta have it gotta have it”. Then I saw the swatches. Don’t gotta have it. Waaah.
Aww! 🙁
This is so pretty but I personally can’t stand glitter fall out because somehow it’ll end up in my eyes. I have enough trouble keeping enough stuff out of my eyes as it is.
Probably would pass then 🙁
Oh man, I can almost see/feel the fall-out all over my cheeks, lol 🙂 It’s a lovely shade though. I just wish it was more intense and less all over the place.
And it’s the type of glitter that for some reason falls from the eye, migrates around, but you can’t just dust off, lol!
Looked like it had more shades within it in the pan. Like some pinky purply iridescence going on. It doesnt have that when swatched 🙁
I think these looked more nuanced in the pan, but it was hard to see it applied (even in person – like I caught those red bits of sparkle in the mirror from the duo).
I don’t like how it looks on. Too sheer, yellow-based and glittery.
I wish it was more pigmented dry!
Wow, this is very disappointing. For $25, this should be easy to apply apply and perform much better, with minimal or no fallout. Easy skip
At the very least, it should apply better/have more pigment to start with. It shouldn’t have fall out, but you know, I recognize that the A+ in glittery eyeshadows isn’t quite a regular reality yet!
Very pretty! I love the shimmer.
It is sparkly!
I often use an eye primer so I’m not fussed about a shadow that needs one. Love this, it’s so pretty!
Just make sure it’s something tacky – NARS Smudge Proof won’t do anything for this, lol!
Yeah, I’ve got Too Faced Glitter Glue for shadows like this! It’s the only item I like in the collection post-review, sadly. And this one has more to do with a weakness for sparkle and rose gold, lol.
OOoooooohhh!!!*grabby hands* It’s SO beautiful and if it doesn’t contain carmine, I’m going to HAVE to get myself one!!
Yayyyy!
Gorgeous look! I’ll go with the Burberry dupe and save myself a ton of hassle.
There ya go! 🙂
Very pretty, but I wonder how often would you really use this with the sparkles? Hmmm.
It’s one of those you’re either lovin’ the sparkle or you’re not kind of products, IMO! Some people will use a tacky base and/or will ignore the fall out and love wearing it! But if you hate fall out or layering bases, I’d skip!
🙁 more sad face
🙁
I want it even though I know it will be a glittery pain-in-the-butt! Ha ha.
Enjoy it 😉
It looks so promising, but no, I don’t feel the need.
I feel the same!
Christine do you think one side of MAC’s Mineralize Natural Vigor is comparable? They look quite similar to me, but I’m switching between screens. Lol
Here you go! 🙂 It’s not going to have the multi-colored sparkle – http://www.temptalia.com/submit-dupe?sbs=1&pid=184389&dupe=192912
Thank you so much Christine! The base colors are pretty similar, aren’t they? Maybe I’ll pass on Outer Limits. If you’d given it an A, I might have still purchased it, but if it’s hard to work with and I can get a similar look from Natural Vigor, it seems a waste of money. Plus, the glitter is a little much for me anyway. Thanks again for the comparison; I really appreciate it!!
Yes, the base color is very similar for sure! And hey, if you don’t like the glittery bits of Outer Limits, Natural Vigor is a better bet! Plus – two shades!
Hmm, I love the look of this colour but I’m not so keen on the idea of glitter fallout – also I’m not really sure if an orangey shade would be a good idea with my very pale skin! Might have a look at MAC’s Sun Tweaked instead since you say it’s similar but less glittery and orange 🙂
There ya go! 🙂
How does this compare to Make Up For Ever D708 Pinky Copper?

Can you swatch NARS Outer Limits next to Urban Decay Fireball? Thanks~!

I would like to buy Nars Outer Limits eyeshadow. Where can I buy it?
