Old Church Street

NARS Old Church Street Velvet Duo Eyehadow ($36.00 for 0.10 oz.) is a new, limited edition duo (and formula) that launches April 15th online. The compact is the same size as other NARS’ eyeshadow duos, but the actual quantity is slightly less at 0.10 oz. (compared to 0.14 oz.). The formula felt less powdery and thin compared to most of NARS’ eyeshadows, which I found to be an upgrade overall. This particular duo featured a light, golden copper and blackened teal. The darker shade could have been better, though it was workable.

Old Church Street (Left)

Old Church Street (Left) is a soft, light-medium, golden copper with warm undertones and a metallic sheen. The texture was soft, smooth, and just a smidgen dusty in the pan but not on the lid. It had excellent pigmentation that applied evenly to bare skin and blended out easily. I noticed fading after eight hours of wear.

Old Church Street (Right)

Old Church Street (Right) is a blackened, bluish teal with subtle, cool undertones and a matte finish. It had semi-opaque, buildable pigmentation paired with a thinner, slightly powdery texture. I was surprised, but the eyeshadow actually blended out without too much additional effort–better than a lot of deeper, matte shades by NARS in my experience. This shade wore well for eight hours before fading.

I’m loving the color story here, I also like that it’s kind of all year selection of shades. Nothing is too summery to be worn at other times yet it feels slightly lighter than traditional fall and darker than traditional spring. I’m going to spend waaaaaay to much, lol. My Sephora tends not to get things in as an option until about a month after the online release here, so I will probably just buy everything before when it debuts and then return what doesn’t work for me. I hate doing that but the last time I faltered on the Sarah Moon collection, they’d sold out before it was even displayed in my store.

Unfortunately, it probably won’t be available through Sephora until May 01. NARS typically releases on their site/boutiques 2 weeks before all other retailers.

that’s what I’m kind of annoyed about! I want to take advantage of the sale, but most of the new releases I need aren’t even online at sephora yet! ?

IDK, not a fan here. The shimmer shade looks very dupe-able, the blue looks weak, and would need to add a 3rd shade from another palette to make this work for me.

This is a versatile combination and I wasn’t confident about the blue shade at all until I read Christine’s comments. It performed a lot better than I expected.
As per the Sephora sales, I don’t think NARS is going to allow its newest collection be part of the sales, so I guess they will release it after the sale period.
