NARS Guyane & Vent Sale Lipglosses Review, Photos, Swatches
NARS Guyane Lipgloss
NARS Guyane Lipgloss ($26.00 for 0.18 fl. oz.) is described as a “seashell pink.” It’s a very light beige with a hint of pink and subtle shimmer. It had semi-opaque color payoff but settled into lip lines noticeably, and it wasn’t completely even. The texture was lightweight, lightly tacky, and lasted three hours but the color settled more and more into lip lines as it wore on. The formula was hydrating while worn. Maybelline Sandy Sensation (115) (LE) is sheerer, warmer. NARS Spring Break (P, $26.00) is similar. MAC Orange Tempera (LE, $15.00) is pinker. MAC Emancipation (LE, $15.00) is cooler-toned. MAC Cut Loose (LE, $15.00) is cooler-toned. MAC C-Thru (P, $15.00) is warmer. MAC A Quiet Roar (LE, $15.00) is warmer, more shimmery. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
NARS Vent Sale Lipgloss ($26.00 for 0.18 fl. oz.) is described as a “silver highlight.” It’s a brightened shimmering white gold with very fine multi-colored pearl and white shimmer. The base color settled somewhat into lip lines, but the shimmer seemed to reflect back and distract from it to some degree. It had semi-sheer to semi-opaque coverage, primarily through the shimmer. It lasted for three hours on me and was hydrating. MAC Clear Water (LE, $15.00) is less shimmery. MAC Softly Lit (LE, $20.00) is less shimmery. MAC Boundless Beige (P, $19.50) is sheerer. MAC Girl on Board (LE, $15.00) is more opaque. MAC A Quiet Roar (LE, $15.00) is less shimmery. MAC Little Rock (LE, $20.00) is sheerer. Guerlain Sable Show (LE, $32.00) is sheerer. Don’t like the 1st one – I can see every lip line, ugh! The 2nd one looks ok, but I prefer a more refined shimmer, probably better layered over a lipstick
I thought I’d like it more over a darker lipstick, but nope!
EEK! Bad performance! What is going on with Nars?!
It’s hard to get a really light beige right, unfortunately!
These are truly awful. The price is pretty insane for a gloss, as well!
They were disappointing!
Vent Sale….dirty wind? Very odd name for a shade. These both lok lovely on you on the full face shot, but then, what doesn’t? Thanks as always for your hard work.
You’re very sweet!
I think it should be “vent salé” = salty windy.
Vent Salé, not Vent Sale. It means salty wind. 🙂
it means “salty wind”, not dirty wind, if it means “dirty wind” it should be vent sal, as vent is a masculine word and shouldn’t have e in the end of sal.
Sale is always spelled sale, it’s never without an e. I think the confusion is because of the accent – salé would require an e if vent was feminine. Nars was probably trying to allude to some kind of salty ocean breeze, but it’s still a bit of a weird name.
Not a fan of these glosses but I just wanted to say that your eye makeup is super flattering here! Looks great on you and makes your eyes look greener.
Thanks, Julia!
Meh. I’m not impressed with this lippie. I think you could get cheaper lipglosses that look the same!
I bet you could!
Vent Sale would have been awesome for my Snow & Ice look that I did last month. But that’s about it, lol 🙂
It is pretty, but it’s almost too pigmented to layer easily!
I’m sad that other people aren’t digging this collection as much as I am! I have Vent Salé and I wear it over top of YSL’s “Blanc” as well as wearing it solo. I’ve gotten loads of compliments on it! 🙂
Glad you like it, Jules!
Guyane looks way too milky and Vent Sale doesn’t look too hot either. I do like the shimmer but I wish NARS used a clear base instead. I can only imagine how it would look on more pigmented lips
A clear base might have worked better!
I could maybe use them as a center of the lips kind of highlight gloss but definitely not all over! This kind of nude gloss is hard to get right and unfortunately it missed the mark for me.
It is hard to get them right for sure!
I love Vent, I think it would be a stunning layering gloss. Guyane is just “meh” to me, though.
I thought it would be, but I tried it over a few reds and pinks – didn’t like it as a layering product!
Wow, that’s disappointing. It looks like it has such potential. Money saved. Thanks for letting me know.
Vindication is a lovely feeling.
Lipliney lipglosses are not 🙁 Vent Sale does actually look pretty in its own right, but it’s one of those ones where I can’t decide if it says ‘magical shimmer’ or ‘medicated lip treatment’ to me… 😀
Maybe it’d say magical shimmer in person, since it would dance a lil’ more 😉
Do you think wearing a light layer of matte concealer on lips under the lip glosses would prevent the lines from becoming visible?
Probably better to use a lip liner 🙂
UG, don’t like either.
The formula isn’t impressive plus I would rather invest in a color than these pale shimmery glosses at this price 😀 but even these look lovely on you dear 🙂
