Fireclay

NARS Fireclay Mosaic Glow Blush ($42.00 for 0.40 oz.) is a medium-dark, pink-coral with warm undertones and a golden sheen. It had opaque pigmentation with a smooth, firmer consistency that was finely-milled but worked best with a moderately dense brush–firm enough that a feathery fan brush would be a poor tool to pick up product but not so firm that it was difficult to blend out. It had a lovely luminous finish that I think is quite underrated in the world of blush; noticeable but not metallic, so there was no fear of it emphasizing my skin’s natural texture. It wore well for eight hours before fading slightly on my skin.

The “downside” to the product is that the brand says the shades can be used individually or together, but the size of the “highlighter” and the “bronzer” shades is so narrow that even small eye brushes would be cutting it close.

This is a lovely blush. Of course I like the embossing. I got up this morning and saw the newest addition to the Sisley Orchide Blush and almost broke my no/low buy before even checking any reviews. As I have said before, I am a a sucker for the embossing and while not as extravagant an emboss, this is still quite pretty. I also really like that it has a slight sheen to it. I like a little sheen on my skin!

Yeah, no one’s using those highlighter and bronzer shades individually except with an eyeshadow brush. On the upside, they both look like they’d make nice eyeshadows, and the overall look with all three together for the cheek is really nice. I get that these split-color products are visually appealing, but I think the vast majority are only usable mixed (accidentally or otherwise) — there are exceptions, but it’s not *really* like you’re getting multiple separate products (unless, again, you’re willing to use some on your eyes)..

I want to add that I have no problem with companies doing these color-block types of presentations — they’re attractive! — I just (in general) don’t think they should market them as multiple colors for different uses unless they’re very careful about making sure that they can be picked up individually without a lot of frustration.
