Éphélide

NARS Éphélide Lip Tint ($26.00 for 0.17 fl. oz.) is a muted, medium-dark plum with subtle, warm undertones and a cream finish. It’s a new, limited edition formula described as a “natural hint of color with extremely comfortable wear.” It medium pigmentation that applied fairly evenly across the lips. The product had a thinner, wetter texture going on that immediately developed into a smooth, non-tacky, and gel-like consistency on the lips. It wore well for four and a half hours and was hydrating. There was no discernible scent or taste to the formula.

NARS Double Decker Lip Tint ($26.00 for 0.17 fl. oz.) is a soft, medium red with warm undertones and a jelly-like finish. It had semi-sheer color coverage that went on evenly and made my lips look stained and glossy. The consistency was smooth, non-tacky, and not too thick or too thin, so it didn’t move around a lot but still felt comfortable to wear. It actually felt more like balm than a gloss, despite having quite a bit of shininess. This shade lasted for four hours on me and was moisturizing.

NARS Promise Lip Tint ($26.00 for 0.17 fl. oz.) is a dark berry with cool undertones and a jelly-like finish. It had medium pigmentation that applied evenly and smoothly across the lips and didn’t settle into my lip lines. The consistency felt thin and creamy as I initially applied it, but as soon as I spread the gloss across my lips, it felt smoother, more gel-like, and rather plush. This shade stayed on well for five hours and was hydrating over time.

These look infinitely better applied to the lips than the arm swatches ever would have indicated! I’m loving the stained glass jelly effect these have. Enough to say that I will be checking out Éphélide and Double Decker!

They have a really cool texture, too – definitely a little different than the average gloss!

I love this concept — hydrating, balm-like, comfortable, rich color. Ephelide catches my eye; I need to check it in person, it may be too dark. And, happy to see the names aren’t offensive; perhaps they’ve heard the customer concerns. Hope Nars makes the line permanent if they’re well received.

I hope NARS will add the formula to their line-up! It was pretty cool in terms of texture, and it was comfortable to wear.

These look really nice! Would you say the formula bears any resemblance to either the Velvet Lip Glide or NARS’ regular lipgloss formula?

Are these like the YSL glossy stains? Your description sounds similar (the thin texture when it first goes on that then becomes more gel like.)

Nope, they’re not! The Glossy Stains have a thicker and tackier feel on the lips overall.

It looks like they’re not, though I’m not sure why (I photograph in alphabetical order to avoid these things happening). Ephelide is definitely the lightest/more mauve shade. I’m so sorry and I’m glad you were able to catch that before purchasing and thank you for letting me know since I just mislead and caused so many problems for everyone here. I’m really, really sorry for making such a horrific mistake.

I am so excited about these!! I knew Promise would end up in my buggy, but ephelde is now also looking super promising! I am ALL for this new sheer balmy trend, it makes me SO HAPPY after months of being sooo sick of matteness! so yay! lol 🙂
