Asphalt Jungle

NARS Asphalt Jungle Lipgloss ($26.00 for 0.18 fl. oz.) is a muted, medium-dark plummy mauve with pink and gold pearl. It had semi-opaque color coverage that went on evenly and smoothly with no visible streaking, but there was a bit of color that sat my lip lines. The glossiness and amount of shimmer made that less noticeable in person, though. It had a smooth, lightweight texture that was just lightly tacky overall. On me, the gloss wore well for four and a half hours and was moisturizing while worn.

Formula Overview

$26.00/0.18 oz. - $144.44 Per Ounce

When NARS launched their reformulation of the Lip Gloss range, the coverage was described as "sheer shine to bold luster," but as of February 2019, the brand simply describes the coverage as "sheer intensity." That's not really accurate, as the range does, actually, range from sheer to more opaque--it greatly depended on the shade. The formula is also supposed to be "smooth" and "nourishing." Some shades applied evenly, while others pulled into lip lines or looked streaky. The consistency was thinner, lightly tacky (with some additional tackiness developing over time), but it was comfortable and lightly hydrating over time. I wish the applicator pulled more product out per application, which would make it a bit easier to spread the product out overall.

There did not seem to be any taste or scent to the formula.

Aragon

NARS Aragon Lipgloss ($26.00 for 0.18 fl. oz.) is a muted brick red with warm undertones and very fine gold shimmer. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that went on fairly evenly, but some of the gloss seemed to settle and emphasize my lip lines. The consistency was lightweight, mostly non-tacky, and comfortable tow ear over the four hours it lasted on me. It was lightly hydrating over time.

Of the two I prefer Asphalt Jungle. However, I am super tempted by Aragon as it is close to the name “Aragorn,” who is the main character in my all time favorite movie trilogy, Lord of the Rings. Oh boy.

Asphalt Jungle is beautiful. I will check it out in Spokane this weekend. I am loving your eye looks with the Coloured Raine eye shadows. I got my order last Friday and have been using them everyday. I love everything about them. They are soft and buttery and blend well. I have the Queen of Hearts palette also and love it so much. I think my favorite color is “Side of Olives”. It reminds me of a favorite shadow from the early 80’s, “Silkspun Greengold” by Shiseido. Just the right tone of olive with gold sheen. Love it. But, I digress, the lip glosses are beautiful and I have just really started looking at glosses. I got several of the ABH glosses and am enjoying them. Can’t thank you enough for all you do, Christine.
