NARS Amour Highlighting Blush

NARS Amour Blush

NARS Amour Blush ($28.00 for 0.16 oz.) is described as a “peachy pink.” It’s a darkened pink-tinted coral. It doesn’t read peachy-pink to me, which tends to be a lighter, warmer color. The finish is matte. Illamasqua Dixie is brighter, less pink. Tarte Blissful is more orange, slightly lighter/softer. theBalm Frat Boy is slightly lighter. MAC Posey is very close, perhaps pinker. MAC Fleet Fast is more coral and has golden orange shimmer. On my cheeks, it looks more pink than coral, but it’s not strictly pink.

The texture of this is drier, stiffer–not really difficult to work with, it just has a thinner, drier texture, so it’s not a really dense blush. You wouldn’t describe it as buttery, for instance. Some powders are really buttery and dense, others are still soft and finely-milled, but they’re thin and feel drier. Amour is the latter.  It packs plenty of pigment, so you can go from subtle tint to full-on color with a tap of the brush, but you won’t have to worry about applying too much too quickly (not like Exhibit A).  The drier texture does mean that you need to spend a little more time blending the color, and because of the matte texture, it can be easier to apply over completely dry foundation (if you’re using liquid).  When I tested Amour to see how long and well it would wear, I was able to get seven hours of good wear; after eight hours, there was some fading along the tops of my cheeks.

This is such a gorgeous color! I always thought this would be my first NARS blush but now I’m rethinking it cos of the B+ rating.

@corallista You wouldn’t be disappointed, It’s an awesome blush, my favorite out of all NARS blushes! Just check it out in stores, and make your own opinion.

Thanks Marie! NARS isn’t available in my country so when I get it, it’ll probably be through someone traveling abroad…most likely bf armed with my long NARS wishlist 🙂 The shade is just gorgeous and shades in this color family generally look flattering on me!

How does it compare to MAC Fleur Power? I haven’t tried this in person, but based on the pics they look quite similar! Thanks!

I have to desagree with Nars description of Amour. I have it and it is not peach pink. But I agree with Christine that it is on the drier side, not necessarily bad, I like it! Of the two Nars’ blushes I own, I like Amour better than Orgasm.

The color is pretty, but for me I don´t know, I don´t see myself with this blush, seems a little red. Could you Christine write some info in each of these posts about what NARS blush would suit best each skintone? Thank you for your always so helpful reviews!!!

@Christine (Temptalia) Oh my! Then sorry for my question Christine 🙁
I must skipped that one because although I don´t always comment on your posts, I´m suscribed to your website via email since long time ago and I read all your post here on Temptalia! I will search that series, thank you so much!

I can never make up my mind about Amour.  You have no idea the number of times I’ve almost bought this but hesitated.  Under the ghastly Sephora lights, it looked *really* reddish on me but when I’ve gone home, it looked pretty, especially after some time had passed. But that faintly red tint underlying it….. it just gives me pause. It’s 4th on my list after Sin, Gilda, and Irrestiblement; and after this review, I think it will stay in 4th place.

I’m afraid this would make me look sunburned 🙁 It’s a little too red and a little too dark for me, but I think it’d work great on darker skintones.

Marie Avatar

@blueraccoon I’m NW07 and I wear this blush everyday. You just need to have a light hand (and/or use an adequate brush) and it looks nice and natural. 🙂

This was my 6th NARS blush, I believe. I consider it a neutral-warm coral-pink that sort of can appear a bit red. I agree this one can be a bit hard to blend, and if it’s not blended just right can look a little splotchy. Overall, I’m not crazy about this one, but I don’t hate it.

MorenaBarbee Avatar

@MissAlissaS I know most people only talk about Orgasm or Deep Throat but there are better shades out there in my opinion.

i’d love to have a lipstick that looks like the color in the pan.  i often gravitate towards blush colors cos i want a lipstick that looks like that.  do you have 1 in mind?

Just bought this and really do like it.  It lasts pretty well and the color is just the right shade or pink(dare I say light fuchsia?) without the dark undertones of Dolce Vita….but was going back and forth on the two of these at the counter.  I am Asian with medium/light olive skin color. I also bought Nars pressed powder Punjab to go along with this blush.  I like that I can wear this for all day and layer it on for evening.

Hi Christine, Im just wondering what nars blushes would be most suitable for nc 25 skin? would amour, dolcevita, orgasm or deepthroat or what actually would u recommend? thanks
