One Vibrant Fuchsia in Pencil Form

NARS 413BLKR Velvet Matte Lip Pencil ($24.00 for 0.086 oz.) is described as a “fuchsia.” It’s a vibrant fuchsia-red with the barest flecks of iridescent blue sparkle that just peek through the color. Tom Ford Aphrodisiac is less matte and has no sparkle. MAC Moxie is similar, but it is completely matte and less blue-based. Illamasqua Atomic is extremely comparable–it even has the iridescent shimmer; it appears to have more of it.

NARS’ Velvet Matte Lip Pencil is supposed to combine the convenience of a pencil with the application of a lipstick . The formula is meant to be rich in color, long-wearing, non-drying, and have a “velvety matte finish.” It can be used for lining, all-over lip color, or paired with another lip product.  It has opaque color coverage, and the finish is definitely matte–there’s a tiny sheen from the sparkle, but it really looks rather matte on.  I found this particular shade a wee bit drying.  It wore for six hours on and left behind a slight stain, but my lips were parched after wearing it.  The pencil itself did tug and pull at lips during application, so getting even color took more effort than your typical lipstick would have.

Eeek, this makes your lips look a but dry! That’s too bad that this pencil is drying and tugs, since I know this formula is usually pretty awesome.

Seriously, stop posting, you’re making me feel lazy for taking a break! Aren’t you supposed to be on your honeymoon or something??
But thanks for reviewing, I had a major lemming for this and the eyeshadow duo/single but now that I’ve seen it on a skintone similar to mine I no longer want it. I think it’s one of the rare times you’ve saved me money instead of convinced me to spend more, lol!

Love the color and don’t mind a more dry texture, but glad you mentioned Atomic as a dupe because they do look very, very similar and I already have that one!

Their blushes are incredible. I’d start there. I have Orgasm, Dolce Vita and Sin. I also picked up a Larger Than Life Eyeliner recently and absolutely love it.

This kind of reminds me of Illamasqua’s Atomic..I don’t have it, but I will certainly be comparing. I love those colours like Illa’s Underworld lipstick where another colour shows through, in this case, the purple underneath the fuschia. Def worth a look for me!

Oops! I think in your Product & Review FAQ, you still have the “Any Dupes?” listed for that blue Wet & Wild nail polish you reviewed a couple days ago.

The color looks great on you though!
