Milk Makeup Slayer Lip Metal ($24.00 for 0.26 oz.) is a deep, red plum with warm undertones and a pearly sheen. It had semi-opaque pigmentation that went on fairly evenly but some color settled into my lips during the initial application. The texture had a light-medium thickness and a smooth feeling as it went on initially, but it developed into a very clingy, tacky consistency that didn’t shift around but felt like it had sort of “set.”

The problem is that it never really seems to set on its own; if I pressed my lips together after an hour of waiting, it took away the subtle sheen and looked more like a satin finish, and if I pressed my lips together again, it looked matte. For reference, the swatches are shown after waiting 30 minutes for it to set, after the lip color felt noticeably clingy and didn’t seem to be changing (and I checked Milk’s promo photos and saw several that looked glossy so I thought that was the extent of the dry down). It lasted for five hours and was non-drying.

Formula Overview

$24.00/0.26 oz. - $92.31 Per Ounce

The Lip Metal formula is supposed to be "pigment-packed" with a "foil-like" finish that has "comfortable to wear" that is designed to be long-wearing. It has more of a setting period than a true dry down; it has more of a thicker, smooth gloss-like feel as it sets down to a thin, very tacky texture. After waiting 30 minutes for it to dry down or set on me, I tried pressing my lips together to test, and I could feel my lips slowly peel away from each other as it was painfully tacky, and then it revealed a less glossy finish each time I pressed my lips together and pulled them apart. The color lifted along the center of my mouth, so it's the type of product that is high-maintenance as I could not press my lips together during wear without ruining the application. If I did not press my lips down, it was still partially glossy after an hour of wear. The lasting time varied wildly based on what I did--whether I ate or drank or talked--the more talking, the worse the wear, as my lips seemed to press together more often. Just going about my normal routine, they lasted between five and seven hours on me and were non-drying.

Willow

Milk Makeup Willow Lip Metal ($24.00 for 0.26 oz.) is a medium-dark purple with warm undertones and fine multi-colored pearl. It had semi-opaque pigmentation with a natural sheen that was present for a solid two hours after application, though if I pressed my lips together after an hour of wear, it took away a significant amount of the shine, but color also lifted away from the center of my lips when I did so. The texture was incredibly tacky as it developed and then “set” on the lips, and it felt quite clingy. On me, it wore well for five and a half hours (as long as I minimized pressing my lips together).

As usual, thank you for the ‘true truth ‘ in reviews. Even if the product $¥<§, there is always a positive take away. (No reference to John Hockenberry here! Lol.). In this case, maybe I do not have to rule out all ‘metalized’ lips.

As pretty as both shades look applied, this sounds very uncomfortable and just weird! Thankfully, I’ve got quite a many dupes. I’m now wishing I’d have picked TF Seadragon and Fenty Astro-Naughty to go see Star Wars The Last Jedi instead of UD Manic! (Although I did bring PMG Strangé just in case I wanted to go to the Dark Side ?)

Glad to see someone else pays homage to films, or other ‘cultural events’ with makeup choices. I get what you mean! (When you say, ooh, that’s right, it means too much m/u info!)
