Milani Shocking Pink Powder Eyeshadow

Milani Shocking Pink Powder Eyeshadow ($4.49 for 0.11 oz.) is a vibrant magenta pink with strong blue undertones and a very subtle dusting of silver shimmer. This might be one of the most vibrant shades I’ve seen, period, but particularly from a mass brand. Sugarpill Dollipop is less blue-based, pinker. MAC Magenta Madness is a little more intense, darker, and pinker. Make Up For Ever #75 is much, much darker and pinker.

The formula is described as “super pigmented, easily blendable, creaseproof, [and] silk-like.” It’s a pretty tall order, but Milani actually delivers well on all four claims. It’s extremely pigmented; it’s rich in color, and it has a soft, buttery texture that’s dense and so very soft. It’s one of the softer, denser mattes (like Inglot), as compared to MAC’s regular matte formula, which is a drier, firmer matte. The soft, silky-smooth texture enables really easy blending and diffusing of color. It applies and adheres well to the bare lid, lasting about eight hours with no creasing and minor fading around the edges.

It will be available exclusively at select CVS stores this May. I’ve linked to Milani’s website for the time being, as it’s a good starting point for tracking down where Milani is sold near you.  These are packaged in a clear-cover plastic compact and contain almost double the amount of product as the average eyeshadow (0.11 oz. vs. 0.05 oz.).

I need it!  😉  I’m so pleased to see that people all over the beauty blogosphere are loving these.  I love the bright blue shadow they just released too.  Milani is such a phenomenal brand and so affordable!  I really need to hit up my walgreens.

Those are blushes – this is an eyeshadow…not that makes a ton of difference unless as a blush it just does not have the last that I demand of my eye color – some do – some don’t.

@Cheechi, I have NARS’ Desire and this looks much, much brighter to me. I think it’s got a deeper, brighter and more opaque look (at least in the swatch) than Gaiety too. I don’t own that one but I was looking at it just a few days ago.

Wow! That’s bright. I might see if there is one to play with when I go to a CVS next week. Right now I think I am fine with my UD Woodstock eyeshadow for a hot pink. Surprised you said this one is softly milled and silky feeling.  I have had a couple Milani eye shadows and both were very rough milled – not smooth feeling.

Jenny Avatar

Yay for the nicer packaging! I wonder if it’s just exclusive to this line or if they will repackage the other shadows? I hate their other packaging so much. I wonder if it will come in other colors? I love matte shadows, but not so bright.

Finally!!!! I actually picked these bad boys during my spring break and had not seen them anywhere online before. I was kind of nervous buying them because i felt like since I hadn’t seen a review on them first, there was a good chance that it would be chalky or sheer. Much to my surprise they were nothing less than amazing:D I love the pigmentation on the black, brown, blue and pink shades and this neon pink works awesome as a bold in your face matte lipcolor.I wear Revlons fushia fusion and then pat this color in paired with simple eyes or a nice bronzy smokey eye=instant glam!!

I love seeing Milani and Chanel on the same page. Just love it and it makes me smile to no end. The fact that there is such a range to your reviews each day is one of the (many) reasons why I spend far, FAR too much time here every day.  (/sheepish look).  You’re certainly no make-up snob and I am so glad I found your blog.  My wallet is less thrilled, however…. ;P

I love the quality, unfortunately, this is not a color I would/could ever wear. I am, however, very interested in seeing what other colors are offered. Milani can

OOH Christine Im so glad you reviewed this!! Also, I hope you review some of the other colors too! I bought the Black (also a matte) to try out this new formula & I think it performs so well.

Sharon Avatar

I haven’t bought this eyeshadow but have MUFE #75 (bought before they stopped being stocked in my city), and have used it as a blush before so can definitely see using the Milani one the same way. It would probably last quite a while too.

Fabulous to see a good quality drug store product!  Can’t say there would be a hope in hell of me ever wearing this shade with the exception of perhaps Halloween..  I will have to check out the other other colours!  I really value good quality matte shades.

Nic Avatar

Wow, that’s impressive.  I almost never feel inclined to buy drugstore eyeshadows, but the texture and pigmentation of this one look really great.

CiaraAinsleyFears Avatar

Hm… I’m intrigued! Is bright pink actually flattering on the eyes, though? Does it bring out redness in the eyes or the skin? I have blue eyes and pale skin with a yellow undertone, btw.

CiaraAinsleyFears Avatar

@Christine (Temptalia) Yeah, that’s a good point! I just have a lot of redness, so when I look at a bright pink product for eyes, lips, cheeks, whatever, I wonder if it’ll bring that out.

MariposaMaquillage Avatar

I’m surprised by this review!!  I thought the pigmentation was seriously lacking and the texture to me was far from buttery or Inglot quality for that matter.  I found it very sheer I returned this along with the bright blue color, not a fan.

Ashley Avatar

I agree! I wanted this as soon as I saw it on here but when I finally found it in store it WAS NOT THE SAME intense color as on this site. Tem must have gotten a really GOOD sample from the PR to promote because what I see is not what I would be getting 🙁 sorry folks

Parabola Avatar

I thought this was a blush at first, but I’m STOKED this is an eyeshadow! Finally! I’ve been looking everywhere for fabulous pink eyeshadows outside of the 88 palette.

blahitslizz Avatar

I love the pigmentation! I was wondering if you get a chance could you do more reviews on the new eye shadows? I would love to see if the rest of them are as pigmentated as this one before I go out and buy it 🙂

OOOOOFIE Avatar

I purchased this after reading this post…impulse buyer much? GUILTY!
Anyhow, the texture is a bit dry – much like that of MAC’s Yogurt (its the one matte shadow that I currently use day to day so I know the feeling of it on my skin) . HOWEVER! it is as pigmented as shown!!!!! A little went a very long way for me…and guess what? YOu get quite a bit of product for 4.99  I also purchased the brown one(for the life of me i cant remember the name of it) I will go back for the Ivory shade…looks like a good Vanilla / Brule dupe…Side Note…this pink made my brown eyes … honeylike… cant go wrong with that!
