Milani Bella Mandarin (27) Bella Eyes Gel Powder Eyeshadow
Milani Bella Mandarin (27) Bella Eyes Gel Powder Eyeshadow ($4.49 for 0.05 oz.) is a softened orange with warm undertones and a satin finish. It had great color payoff both dry and damp, and it applied easily without sheering out on the eye. The color wore well for seven and a half hours before creasing. ColourPop Play (P, $5.00) is lighter, cream. Chanel Tisse Fantaisie #1 (LE) is more muted, cooler-toned. MAC Satin Ochre (Right) (LE) is more matte. Anastasia Fresh Peach (P, $12.00) is more shimmery. LORAC Apricot (LE) is more shimmery. Make Up For Ever M720 Apricot (P, $21.00) is yellower, lighter. Make Up For Ever I722 Mandarin (P, $21.00) is brighter, lighter. Sephora Collection Rio (91) (P, $13.00) is more matte, cooler-toned. Dior Pareo (P, $29.00) is similar. Inglot #123R Top (P, $6.00) is more matte. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Milani Bella Gold (22) Bella Eyes Gel Powder Eyeshadow ($4.49 for 0.05 oz.) is a rich, molten orange gold with a frosted, slightly metallic, finish. It was semi-opaque applied dry, but it was prone to sheering out due to the slightly powdery texture. When I tried it with a dampened brush, the pigmentation was opaque, and the product itself was a lot easier to work with as it applied as a thicker, denser layer. It wore well for eight hours. LORAC Unlimited (P) is lighter. Marc Jacobs Beauty The Night Owl #3 (P) is darker. Urban Decay Baked Cowboy (P, $18.00) is lighter. Kat Von D Summerfly (P) is slightly darker. Makeup Geek Gold Digger (P, $5.99) is more orange. MAC Gilded Night #2 (LE, $21.00) is lighter. Maybelline Gold Rush (P, $6.99) is lighter. MAC Gaelic Gold (LE, $15.00) is darker. MAC Goldmine (P, $15.00) is lighter. Le Metier de Beaute Goldstone (P, $30.00) is darker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Milani Bella Rouge (19) Bella Eyes Gel Powder Eyeshadow ($4.49 for 0.05 oz.) is a medium-dark pink with subtle, warm undertones and a frosted sheen. Applied dry, it had semi-opaque color payoff but was drier to use, while applied damp, it was fully opaque and smoother. It lasted for seven and a half hours on me before fading. Milani Pink Twice (P, $6.99) is cooler-toned, more shimmery. MAC Tease with Ease (DC, $21.00) is less shimmery, darker. Estee Lauder Violet Underground #1 (LE, $21.00) is darker, cooler-toned. Sugarpill Decora (P, $12.00) is brighter, warmer. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Gel…powder? Gel powder? I’m both confused and intrigued. Looks nice! I love those colors, especially together.
It feels like powder, just to clarify! 🙂 It’s just the type of technology behind it.
Yeah, they’re all made in Italy these gel to powdder formula products. I’m obsessed! I would love to get a hold of these Milani ones, Bella Mandarin is calling my name but they don’t sell these in stores up here in Canada yet.
Wow, very impressive for only $4.50 and cheaper with BOGO 50% off !! I love how some of the drugstore brands are giving the HE ones a run for their money. These aren’t my colors, but will definitely want to check out the other shades. Go Milani !!!
Some shades are really nice in this range!
ooh that peach one <3
It’s pretty!
I have Bella Mandarin, ordered it online just to try the formula out, and completely agree with Christine. It deserves an A rating. It’s absolutely gorgeous and applies & wears really well. Definitely one of the nicest peachy type eyeshadow I own, and I have quite a few in that shade range!
I like Bella Rouge!
Yay!
I wish we had Milani in Greece..My dream is to import every cool makeup brand in my dreamy “boudoir” store!
Aww!
Mandarin is so pretty
It is!
Do you think Bella Mandarin could be used as a blush?
It probably could be!
I use Bella Mandarin all the time as a blush! It gives a nice glow and it lasts almost as long as the other blushes by Milani! It’s awesome!
Do they feel like “gel powders” (perhaps like “cushion” makeup, because they look like that with the little indentations) or just regular powders?
They feel like powder – they’re like NARS Dual Intensity, Estee Lauder Gelee, etc.
I love the way these eyeshadows look in the pan and sometimes hate to ruin it! I am a huge fan of Bella Copper..but I don’t know if this is an issue with just mine or all but the plastic top keeps popping out!
I don’t think I’ve had that happen with these (I can’t recall), but I have had it happen with another Milani compact before.
Wow, just noticed the new packaging! Much more luxe and sleek. All these great Milani reviews are making me sad the brand isn’t more accessible here in Canada. For drugstore I really think they do knock it out of the park!
I wish they’d increase distribution in Canada!
Yeah, very small distribution. I’ve got some products at larger Zerhs, they have them at the “Real Canadian” Superstore, and I’ve heard that larger GTA Walmarts have them as well. Please come to Walmart Milani around me!!!
i have almost all of them and absolutely love them. Geeat variety of colors and they all perform well. Can’t beat the price i got most of mine from CVS on sale bogo 50% and had coupons/cvs extrabucks,.ended up paying $1 each for 10!
have you heard about the new quads, fierce foil eyeshines? They look gorgeous but are expensive for drugstore, $10. Hearing mixed reviews on performance. Hoping you could review them.
$1 each? That’s awesome!
These look like they should be squishy…just want to poke them in the middle haha. Really like the gold and magenta one!
They’re definitely more like your regular ol’ powder in that regard! 🙂
I can never find Milani around here. I have been interested in their blushes ever since “Luminosso” is alll over it seems! Maybe, I will check out Amazon. Are these similiar to ColourPop in that they cannot be depotted? It’s not a deal breaker. With singles, I am always thinking of the mess I have yet to organize! Ugh..I actually received some $ for my Bday which I am planning to use to put together a Besta system(on a much smaller scale than yours) . Christine, did you do the measuring and planning or did you have Ikea do that part? I’m afraid i will mess it up!
They’re hard to find near me, too! These are regular powder, not at all cream-like, so you could technically depot! (I’ve never tried, so I have no experience/insight on that process for these!)
For the first one, I did go to Ikea and someone helped me. Here are the exact things for a unit with 16 drawers. You would halve the amount of drawers and how many legs you would need if you just did the smaller size (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10253898/#/10102135). I looked just now, and I can’t seem to find the wider version with just the frame (I only see one with doors: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S79021561). They do have this with a mix of drawers and doors (http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/S29019462/#/S89019478) already ready to go.

Thank you for both replies! But, really, really thank you for the help with the Besta! You are fantastic!
I have a couple of these and completely forgot about them lol. They seem to be pretty good quality though so I need to find them lol
You should!
I bought mandrin a few days ago and was happy with it. I also got a dark brown one. They made a nice look together and were still just as vibrant at the end of my day.
To me they are powder. I don’t get the gel claim.
It’s the same concept as gel-powder hybrids like Estee Lauder Gelee, MAC Extra Dimension, NARS Dual Intensity, etc. I believe it’s about the process of how they’re manufactured 🙂
I grabbed one of these out of curiosity, and I like the formula, but I never reach for singles! Maybe I should throw it in the makeup bag where I keep all my L’Oreal Infallibles, since I do use those occasionally. XD
It’s hard to use singles for me, too!
I would love to rock Bella Rouge.
It would be great on you!
I love how these three colors look together. I have Rouge. It’s such a pretty pink.
They worked well together!
I love how these look together! Next time they’re on sale at CVS (I work there) I’ll have to grab a few. I have the copper one but I don’t know what shades to pair with it!
The gold!
Those colors look so gorgeous on you Christine..especially the Bella Mandarin one 🙂
Thanks, Komal!
Bella Mandarin caught my eyes.
(Have a nice week!)
Thank you 😀
You too!
Love that Bella Gold eyeshadow – really, really pretty. But I couldn’t see myself wearing the orange or pink colours.
By the way, we don’t get Milani in Australia, which is such a shame. I would really love to try all their products in person. Their lipsticks are amazing!
Bella Gold has such a richness to it!
Mandarin performs a lot better than I expected it to.
I was surprised, too!
I have a few of these and love all of them! I use Bella Mandarin all the time! I was surprised when I saw your swatch though -on me, it’s much more similar to Makeup Geek’s Peach Smoothie when I wear it (more orange, but still I use them interchangeably)!
What do you pair Bella Mandarin with?
The Milani eyeshadows are very popular here in NY. I have a few and they are very nice especially at their price point. My faves are copper, cappucino, espresso, emerald and bronze.
They do some really nice products!
What a interesting formula. Estée Lauder’s gel powder formula never worked for me but these colors look great.
Really! That is too bad 🙁
Bella Mandarin looks so nice on you. It comes across as a pale orange and less pigmented than the other shades on my darker skin tone. It’s my least favorite shade while he metallics like gold and bronze look amazing on me.
Does it get chalky at all on your skin tone, Mayra?
L’oreal also has a line similar to these, but they’re not available in canada currently only in the uk
Bummer!
I just bought Bella Khaki over the weekend and it’s gorgeous! I’ll be picking up more.
Awesome! Happy you’re loving Bella Khaki!
I just randomly picked up one of these the other day while at Walgreens and was pretty impressed! I thought maybe it would be a dud because I only heard that much about them right after launch but I guess the beauty community is just fickle like that.
They’re pretty nice! Which one did you get?
I love Milani’s Bella shadows! I have Bella Taupe (my current fave crease color) and Bella Khaki.
Those are great shades!
I’ve been wearing Bella Mandarin as a blush and I love it!
Awesome! What brush do you like to use with it?
OH girl, you put so much work into your site- amazing. I am a long time lurker but I needed to finally say hi and thank you: your blog is very much appreciated. I don´t think there is anybody out there better then you. All those dupes you show- the details. Amazeballs! Thank you Thank you Thank you!!! Applause!
HI! Thank you so much, Sissi! 🙂
