Maybelline Pink Pop ColorSensational Vivids Lip Color
Maybelline Pink Pop ColorSensational Vivids Lip Color ($7.49 for 0.15 oz.) is a blue-based, cotton candy pink with a soft, frosted finish. OCC Digitalis is lighter. MAC Saint Germain is lighter, less pink. MAC Pink Nouveau is very comparable. MAC Snob is grayer. MAC Naughty Saute is also similar but glossier.
Pink Pop had mostly opaque color coverage, but there was a slight translucency–I would expect those with redder natural lips may find this darkens somewhat on them as a result. Â This had a slightly thicker, creamier consistency compared to other shades I’ve tested in this range; I wouldn’t by a lot but enough to be noticeable. Â It is comfortable to wear, was lightly hydrating during the five hours it lasted on me, and faded evenly. Â I did notice that if you press your lips together, sometimes it would create lines, but luckily, they didn’t seem too apparent from a distance.

How would this compare to MAC Silly?
Silly is darker and not shimmery.
I keep looking at this color in the store, but I know I have so many that are similar. It’s very cute, though.
This colour will always remind me of a lady I knew about 12 years who used to pack on foundation about 2 shades darker than her natural skintone, and then it would oxidize on her and turn orange and then she would wear lipstick this colour without fail. It was truly awful and she was such a naturally beautiful woman. My partner asked me once “why does she do that”.. and I had no answer, but I could never say anything to hurt her. She loved her look. It did me in for this colour and every year when MAC churns out another one, I’m reminded. Pass.
For me, it was a girl in High School. She was very pretty, had *amazing* porcelain skin, but she wore bright “racing stripe” blush in orange, fuschia, or magenta, and this sort of lipstick lined with a deep maroon. Whenever I see this range of listick, and the aforementioned blush shades, that’s what comes to mind.
I completely understand. I don’t even want to remember this woman this way, but it’s indelibly printed in my mind. Horrible, huh?
I have Pink Nouveau, and with all due respect, I don’t think the two colors are very similar. They’re both blue-based pinks, but Pink Nouveau’s semi-matte finish makes it look brighter and more saturated, while Pink Pop looks lighter and shinier. And though I’m by no means a snob about drugstore lipsticks, I think Pink Pop looks a bit cheaper.
Atleast it looks far better than Saint German, which is one color I can’t wear. I also have Snob, which looks ok on me..will try this too! Thanks Christine for the review!
How would you compare this to Glam Gaga? I’m out of that and it was my favorite pink shade!
This is pinker, darker, and not as cool-toned.
This is my fav lipstick ever!
i do not think it looks cheap at all.. i love cool toned pinks, i have a million of them and do not need another but i think it is nice to have a drugstore option.. most drugstore pinks in this shade are too frosty.
I’m late to the game with my comments, but after owning this shade for about two months and having it grow on me, I really love it. On my pigmented lips and against my mocha complexion, I actually find it a tad too dark for the look I desire (it’s the Nicki Minaj in me). I add a light layer of MAC St. Germain and voila…perfect. 🙂 This is a great and inexpensive buy. I no longer spend more than $10cdn on lipsticks and lip gloss (unless it’s a really unique MAC shade that I just have to get and even then, I try to find a ds dupe), so this fits the bill just right.
