Maybelline Pearlescent Peach, Glistening Coral, & Lust for Mauve Color Elixir Iridescent Lipglosses Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Maybelline Pearlescent Peach (520) Color Elixir Iridescent Lipgloss
Maybelline Pearlescent Peach (520) Color Elixir Iridescent Lipgloss ($8.99 for 0.17 fl. oz.) is a semi-sheer, peachy-coral with warm undertones and fine gold shimmer. It had semi-sheer color coverage that applied fairly evenly and was comfortable to wear. The gloss lasted for three hours on me. It’s nowhere near the coverage Maybelline markets the formula as having, though. If you like sheerer glosses and aren’t sensitive to taste (the Color Elixirs have a strong soap-like/perfume-like taste), it might be worth considering. Dior Rieuse (373) (P, $35.00) is less shimmery, more opaque. NARS Stella (P, $26.00) is pinker. NARS Salamanca (P, $26.00) is redder. Chanel Sonate (178) (P, $29.50) is less shimmery. MAC Fever Isle (LE, $20.00) is brighter, more opaque. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Maybelline Glistening Coral (525) Color Elixir Iridescent Lipgloss ($8.99 for 0.17 fl. oz.) is a brightened, medium orange with very subtle gold pearl. As it is semi-sheer, the natural lip color will influence how this looks on–for me, it looks more coral (stronger pink) than orange. It lasted for two and a half hours and could have applied a bit more evenly. NARS Salamanca (P, $26.00) is less shimmery. NARS Paris Follies (LE, $26.00) is darker. MAC Fever Isle (LE, $20.00) is pinker, more opaque. Revlon Kiss Me Coral (P, $7.99) is more orange. Guerlain Candy Stripe (P, $30.00) is more orange. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Maybelline Lust for Mauve (535) Color Elixir Iridescent Lipgloss ($8.99 for 0.17 fl. oz.) is a rosy plum with warm undertones and beige and mauve shimmer. It had semi-sheer color coverage where a lot of the natural lip color is visible, but it did add noticeable color and shimmer when I applied it. This shade wore well for four hours. NARS Corsica (LE, $26.00) is lighter, more opaque. MAC Private Party (LE, $20.00) is more muted. Marc Jacobs Beauty Studded Kiss (310) (P, $28.00) is cooler-toned. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

I’m not a big gloss fan but I love this packaging. So kudos to Maybelline there!
Yay!
I really like the Mauve color inspite of the shimmer overload!
Haha, surprise! 🙂
Ugh, don’t understand why they put soap-like fragrance in there. I guess these are good if you like your glosses sheer, otherwise they are better layered over lipsticks. Lust For Mauve has pretty shimmer.
Makes you wonder if anyone tested it or how many did! There’s no real reason to have it taste anything but… tasteless?
Lust for Mauve is nice. But there’s something about the packaging that just doesn’t appeal to me. I prefer Revlon.
I wonder what it is!
These colors are very me. Which means very wearable 😉
Easy pass for me… When I see shades like this that are super basic, I tend to buy the high end versions.
Very pretty and VERY iridescent. Makes me wish summer was here already!
What happened to Glistening Coral’s applicator? — Is that a common issue with these?
These are…disappointing
I can’t tell much of a difference between any of them. I usually say that about lip glosses though. Almost all look the same to me… I guess because they are usually so sheer. But these especially look unimpressive.
It’s so funny that I’ve stared at your photos enough that I knew you had to be wearing something beyond your Guerlain foundation and Naked powder, so I scrolled down and yep! Highlight! You look great! It made me wonder if you’d review Maskara’s new Highlight/Contour foundation- http://www.maskcaracosmetics.com/ generation 1 had pretty bad reviews but I think it’s such a novel idea that I’d love to see your take on it.
They all seem very similar, I dont think these are worth spending money on.
I really like Lust for Mauve. Those wonky applicators, though — ugh!
I think you may have forgot to include the product name for the mauve in the top review.
Fixed, thank you!
Lust for Mauve is definitely the most interesting of the three – I do like me some epic shimmer! Having said that, I can’t really get excited about any of them, and haven’t really been able to get thrilled about many from this line as a whole. I have the really bright violet one (of course) and I like that a lot, but the ‘soap’ smell/taste is, I agree, rather extreme. I feel like it’s supposed to be bergamot – it smells like ‘Earl Grey Tea essence EXTREME’ to me. Now, I like me some Earl Grey tea, but there’s a limit, kids… 😉
I liked pearlescent peach.. though the formula is semi-sheer they can look great when topped on a lip color.. Wish it had been fragrance free as I hate lip products smelling like a soap.. 😛
I like Lust for Mauve but I wish Maybelline made these more opaque. I don’t think these shades will do much for people with pigmented lips
I got two of these last night at Target, and the color and wear is fantastic, I love the color and glossiness, without being glittery.
BUT THE TASTE IS AWFUL!! Sorry to shout, but understand, this isn’t like Chanel’s vita lumiere that has a heavy fragrance that goes away…these smell and taste awful. Like pledge or walking into a cloud of cologne. Yuck yuck.
