Maybelline Blushing Petal & Enthralling Nude Color Elixir Iridescent Lipglosses Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Maybelline Blushing Petal (505) Color Elixir Iridescent Lipgloss
Maybelline Blushing Petal (505) Color Elixir Iridescent Lipgloss ($8.99 for 0.17 fl. oz.) is a sheer, pink-tinted gloss with fine white shimmer. It’s very, very sheer and adds mostly shimmer. It goes on fairly evenly and wears for two hours on me. I really am surprised Maybelline didn’t make it a point to offer these up as a sheerer counterpoint to their regular Color Elixir range, because these have little in common with the original range. They have a fairly strong perfume/soap-like taste and a sweeter, more creme brulee-like scent. NARS Istria (P, $26.00) is cooler-toned, less shimmery. Chanel Eau de Rose (86) (LE, $27.00) is similar. Revlon Orchid (P, $7.49) is darker, pinker. MAC Fashion Fanatic (LE, $20.00) is milkier. MAC Icescape (LE, $15.00) is cooler-toned. MAC Bait (LE, $15.00) is milkier. MAC Fashion Scoop (P, $20.00) is less shimmery. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Maybelline Enthralling Nude (500) Color Elixir Iridescent Lipgloss ($8.99 for 0.17 fl. oz.) is a peach-tinted base with lighter peach shimmer. It is quite sheer (nowhere near the color payoff that’s described), though it goes on smoothly and has a pretty sparkle to it. It lasts two and a half hours on me and was lightly hydrating over time. MAC Nectarsweet (LE, $20.00) is pinker. YSL Nude Carat (No. 20) (P, $32.00) is pinker. bareMinerals Dazzler (LE, $18.00) is pinker. Chanel Zephyr (377) (LE, $29.50) is pinker. MAC Jasmine Honey (LE, $19.00) is similar. MAC Satin Slip (LE, $20.00) is similar. MAC Kiss Me Softly (LE, $20.00) is lighter. Hourglass Verse (P, $28.00) is warmer. I just want to straighten those applicators! They bug me!
I like super-sheer nude gloss like these to have more shimmer, personally.
LOL!
Meh, not impressed, but at least you’re only paying $9 for them (less if on sale) vs. $20-30 for the HE dupes, which are just as sheer
True!
Oh, Maybelline! They’ve been doing so well with their new lines of lipsticks; the Creamy Matte ones especially give high end brands a run for their money. But when they fail, they fail hard (I’m still sad that out of all the matte colour tattoos, only Creamy Beige isn’t completely patchy). But this does make me happy I resisted buying Blushing Petal on impulse yesterday: it’s so new that there was no tester, and I would definitely have felt ripped off.
It’s such a different formula/level of coverage – I don’t know why they didn’t market them as such!
Wow these are really sheer!
Right? SO sheer!
I never really considered Istria before but it’s so pretty in the Dupe pics. These are pretty bad all around. It’s sad because I was looking forward to them 🙁
Aww!
These are nice if you’re looking for a clear/shimmer gloss, I guess? And you can stand the taste, LOL! 😀 They do seem a little redundant though, especially next to each other…
It’s baffling how sheer these are!
Blushing petal was a colour that most appealed to me but had the lowest rating! I quite liked this formula too!
If you like sheer gloss, you may still like it! 🙂
Both of them just failed to deliver even the hint of color on lips.. I couldn’t make out if they are actually different on lips.. 😛
lol!
This time around, I am thanking you very much for saving me $’s and headaches with these painfully sheer lipglosses. Wow, and here I thought my MAC Cremesheen lipglasses were sheer! These look like they’re from the dollar store.
No prob, Nancy! 🙂
I am liking the sheer effect. Though not much of gloss fan, would check this one sometime
I personally don’t mind that they are very sheer. But those applicators though… they seem a little too gimmicky!
