Maybelline Barely Bloomed, Blushing Bud, Petal Pink Color Sensational Lipsticks Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Maybelline Color Sensational Rebel Bloom Lipsticks
For spring, there are ten shades of Maybelline Color Sensational Rebel Bloom Lipstick ($7.49 for 0.14 oz.), which are supposed to be a “kicky bouquet of lip colors.” The Color Sensational formula is supposed to be richly pigmented with a creamy texture and feel hydrating. These three had fairly good color coverage, but the thicker, more emollient texture made them harder to apply even, smooth color. The formula was lightly hydrating overall, comfortable to wear, and had a little below average wear. The formula has a sweet, creme brulee-like scent with a slight perfume-y taste (I find it less noticeable compared to the Elixirs).
Maybelline Barely Bloomed (700) Color Sensational Rebel Bloom Lipstick ($7.49 for 0.14 oz.) is a light peach with warm undertones and a natural sheen. It had mostly opaque color coverage, but the consistency was creamy and slippery enough that it applied unevenly. It wore well for three hours and was lightly hydrating. Tom Ford Beauty Beau (LE, $32.00) is slightly pinker. NARS Raquel (P, $32.00) is darker, warmer. MAC What’s Haute? (LE, $16.00) is lighter. Chanel Satisfaction (89) (P, $35.00) is darker. MAC Fleur d’Coral (LE, $16.00) is lighter. Marc Jacobs Beauty Pout (142) (LE, $30.00) is more matte. Maybelline Blushing Beige (915) (P, $7.49) is a smidgen lighter. MAC Close Contact (LE, $16.00) is warmer. Marc Jacobs Beauty Moody Margot (106) (P, $30.00) is sheerer. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Maybelline Blushing Bud (705) Color Sensational Rebel Bloom Lipstick ($7.49 for 0.14 oz.) is a muted, medium pink with subtle,w arm undertones and a luminous sheen. It had mostly opaque pigmentation that covered well with minimal unevenness. The slightly thicker consistency seemed prone to showing “lines” if you pressed your lips together, though. It lasted for four hours on me and was a smidgen hydrating. Bobbi Brown Pink Kiss (P, $26.00) is lighter. NARS Vanessa (P, $32.00) is warmer. NARS Anna (P, $32.00) is darker. Guerlain Rosy Boop (369) (P, $37.00) is warmer. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Maybelline Barely Bloomed (700) Color Sensational Rebel Bloom Lipstick ($7.49 for 0.14 oz.) is a brightened, light cotton candy pink with cool, blue undertones and very subtle pearl with a glossier finish. It had nearly full color coverage, but if you have natural pigmentation, I could see this turning a little more fuchsia. The consistency was emollient and glided on without tugging, but it tended to pull into lip lines after two hours of wear (while it lasted for a total of three hours for me). NYX Rose (P, $6.00) is lighter, brighter, more matte. MAC A Novel Romance (LE, $16.00) is warmer. MAC Dress to Impress (LE, $16.00) is grayer. MAC Ladies Who Lunch (LE, $22.00) is a smidgen warmer. Givenchy Rose Dahlia (210) (P, $36.00) is a touch darker. MAC Rose Lily (LE, $16.00) is sheerer. MAC Raspberry Swirl (LE, $16.00) is less glossy. MAC Naughty Saute (LE, $16.00) is darker, brighter. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

I’m sure u have already stated it, but I can’t find it anywhere. .are these LE?
As far as I know they’re permanent, since they’re actually online (it’s rare that LE drugstore is available online for brands like Maybelline), and there is nothing that says limited edition in the product info area. I don’t get any press releases from Maybelline, so I don’t have any insight beyond what ULTA is listing!
I like blushing bud but I’d probably spring for anna instead.
Anna looks nicer on the lips!
I love these! Maybe it’s my inner Easter Bunny coming out but I just love them!
Yay!
I have a couple of these and I love them. Especially Orchid Ecstasy. It’s such a pretty purple. I think Blushing Bud will be the next one I pick up. It looks like a pretty wearable pink
Which others do you like?
Fancie, you look good in Orchid Ecstasy! It’s a gorgeous purple fuchsia pink, and it’s the only one I would consider buying out of this entire collection.
Meh, not impressed with any of these. Either it doesn’t look very smooth, or the color clashes with my skintone.
I’m not overly enthused either!
Blushing Bud is actually really nice. Overall, I’m just not impressed by what I’m seeing of this line.
It could be better, IMO.
I have never been able to wear Maybelline, as they always taste like Playdoh to me, and they smell even worse. It’s a shame, because visually their products are very nice.
Sounds gross! I haven’t had Play-doh in forever, so I can’t recall the TASTE of it, but these definitely don’t smell like Play-doh to me (the taste isn’t pleasant, period, though).
I like Blushing Bud best of these, but it still has that very while base that I think will make it hard to wear for me. Still, all my ramblings are kind of moot, since these haven’t made it here yet, I don’t think (if they ever do!). 😉
I wonder if they will roll out elsewhere!
I know this is inconsequential but people aren’t pigmented. There’s no pigment in our skin as far as I know. Melanin darkens skin and underlying blood vessels can “color” it, esp if one is pale. Saying “darker skin coloring ” sounds less strange than saying “more melanin in skin” to me though.
I’m referring to the pigment in one’s lips – as lips can be more neutral to deeper and rosier.
Lips are made of skin, though.
Thanks for sharing! 🙂 Everything I’ve googled (briefly) has mentioned skin pigmentation, hyper pigmentation, lip pigmentation, and has referred to melanin as pigment. I think for the purposes of a beauty blog that it’s commonly understood your lip color may have a naturally different level of color to it that I don’t see any issue with using that terminology. If there is an ultra-scientific terminology, I didn’t see it pop up when I searched, and this isn’t the context that one would use it, at the very least.

Blushing Bud is the only one of the lot I’m into… But since the formula looks thin… I think I’d rather have a Nars or Guerlain dupe.
It’s definitely a thinner/sheerer formula.
I wish formula had been lighter as I hate that thick feeling on my lips.. Out of these three only Blushing Bud caught my fancy.. 🙂
Lovely lip swatches dear.. 🙂
Blushing Bud is so pretty! Definitely my kind of shade.
