Marc Jacobs Navy Noir, Orange Crush, Blue Me Away Highliners Reviews, Photos, Swatches

Marc Jacobs Navy Noir (76) Highliner Gel Eye Crayon
Marc Jacobs Navy Noir (76) Highliner Gel Eye Crayon

Marc Jacobs Navy Noir (76) Highliner Gel Eye Crayon ($25.00 for 0.01 oz.) is described as a “darkest navy.” It’s a blackened blue with lighter navy blue pearl shimmer that gives it a more pearled finish. It had fairly opaque pigmentation in a single pass that was buildable to mostly opaque coverage. The texture was creamy enough to glide on without skipping or tugging on the lash line. The color lasted for over fourteen hours without fading/smudging. Sephora Collection Suede Shoes (P, $9.00) is warmer, less shimmery. Marc Jacobs Beauty Midnight in Paris (P, $25.00) is slightly warmer. Sephora Collection Galaxy Girl (25) (P, $9.00) is blacker. NARS Night Flight (P, $24.00) is cooler-toned. Urban Decay LSD (P, $19.00) is more sparkly, warmer. MAC Night Trail (P, $20.00) is darker. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Marc Jacobs Orange Crush (78) Highliner Gel Eye Crayon ($25.00 for 0.01 oz.) is described as a “deep orange shimmer.” It’s a lightly brightened, coral-orange with warm, reddish undertones and pink and gold sparkle. It had semi-opaque color payoff with a really creamy, glide-on consistency–one of the creamier shades I’ve tried from the brand. It lasted for fourteen hours without any signs of wearing away. I couldn’t think of any dupes for this one from what I’ve reviewed/seen myself!

Marc Jacobs Blue Me Away (84) Highliner Gel Eye Crayon ($25.00 for 0.01 oz.) is described as a “light sky blue pearl.” It’s a brightened, light-medium sky blue with a pearly sheen. It had fairly good color in a single stroke, and it was buildable to more opaque coverage on the lash line in two layers. The color stayed in place for fourteen hours and didn’t show any signs of fading or smudging. Tarina Tarantino Kanzashi (P, $15.00) is darker. bareMinerals 4AM (LE, $15.00) is darker. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

I really wish i liked the formula of these, but they are so smudgy and don’t sharpen well. I am always surprised that others like them so much. what am i doing wrong?

Just beautiful!!! I love all the looks you created here, but especially the second one with the orange liner!!! Now I know I need to order the new makeup geek shadows and this liner to be able to recreate it!!! Thank you Christine!!!!

The concept of orange eyeliner has literally never occurred to me before, but I think I can totally work this look! So summery and luxe looking

Ow wow..these are gorgeous! I’m going to need all three…and I have a feeling I will say that abut the remaining new ones. My wallet officially will be strangling me! At least they are permanent. But these 3 are great for summer! Ugh, I’m going to start playing the lotto! 😀

No doubt! Orange Crush, I have a feeling is going to be my first pick. I must say,I can’t recollect anything similar in my collection and it is stunning on the hazel eyes! Dear Wallet, please don’t murder me. Orange Crush must me mine by weeks end if at all possible. Be grateful you exist. I could have not purchased you and stored my bank cards, cash ,etc.in a rubber band or baggie. Be grateful you have a home. Love, the maker of the money and your mommy. LOl..Sorry..it’s late!

Wow! Orange Crush was my fav but now that you reviewed it I really really love it….gorgeous on the waterline. I couldn’t wait for the review on peridot! Such a sucker for greens….bought it last week and already used it twice.

Another pass – blue and orange just aren’t my colors!
I’m thinking they’d look kind of bizarre on my green eyes.
Oh, well; so far, this spring has been rather easy on my imaginary makeup “budget.” 🙂

I love Navy Noir but think I’ll opt for a less pricey version. I do like the MJ pencils but find the price steep so I’ve only purchased one “every day” shade. If the price were lower (they are 30-31 dollars EACH here…don’t understand why the price discrepancy but either way, they’re a lot) I would certainly own more of them.

Oh how I love me some Highliners and all three of these are really nice. Navy Noir is especially calling my name as I adore Midnight in Paris and think navy liners in general are very flattering. The three looks you created are just stunning and run the gambit from understated and polished to super-fun and unexpected.

Navy Noir is gorgeous and I don’t have anything like it, so I’ll def be grabbing it when my shopping ban is up! Hoping it works on the waterline, too.

Can I just say I’m super excited! I know you mentioned that these typically have staying power but that’s all. So I’m really happy these are scoring so highly. I really hope the other shades score well too. If they do I see myself buying at least a few!

Orange Crush looks really beautiful on you! The contrast of MUG Fortune Teller with it is a pretty, and wearable look. Seeing it on your eye vs the swatch makes me curious as to how it would look on me. 🙂

love these for summer! The only other orange liner I have seen is by GOSH cosmetics. It’s a wee bit darker, no glitter but definitely bright orangey melon. I can’t recall the name and I have yet to use it. It’s been sitting in my stash for at least a year LOL!!

Love these! They’re stunning on you! I picked up Blue Me Away, Orange Crush, and Peridot during the sale and absolutely love them. Blue Me Away is such a gorgeous pop of color on its own, Peridot is just so lovely and complex on the eyes, and Orange Crush is definitely unique in my collection and a current go-to. The coral-orange makes my light eyes POP. These are my favorite pencils for doing ombre liner looks. They blend so beautifully together and add so much to an eye look. Love! I did something very similar to your last eye look the first time I wore them out (Armani Eye Tint in Jade on the inner corners blended into CP’s Snap Dragon through the inner third, CP’s Taco blended on the middle, and CP’s Ibiza on the outer third. I lined with Blue me Away on the upper inner corner and lower corner, blended and continued with Peridot, and finished with Intro(vert).

Sigh. Love these so.

Blue Me Away is calling my name — it would be perfect with a lot of summer looks I do! Orange Crush is really pretty, and I’m glad they’re doing unusual colors, but oranges and yellows are very challenging for me to wear well… although I do do a sunset eye from time to time in the summer…

Love, love, love. Although this settles the question about the dark blue – I like Midnight in Paris better for me. A cooler blue like Navy Noir tends to emphasise my undereye circles so I usually steer clear.

Orange Crush is slightly peachy toned. The Sephora + Pantone Tangerine eye pencil from a few years ago leaned fairly coral. I absolutely loved it colour-wise but the packaging was one of those weird hybrid plastic pencils and it ended up breaking, boo, so I threw it out. I have MAC Playland pencil in orange, but that is an in-your-face safety cone orange, not an everyday sort of look!

Gosh doesn’t seem to have the orangey Girl Power velvet liner anymore. Sleek MakeUP used to have a Pumpkin liner, but I’m not sure if it was LE or not.

And that’s literally all I can think of! I keep an eye out since I picked up the Sephora + Pantone one, because it ended up being unexpectedly awesome on me.

I have the Midnight in Paris and Navy Noir – love them and they last all day on my teary, allergy suffering eyes. IMO, Blue Suede Shoes is a nice alternative, just not as long lasting. I think I should add Orange Crush to my Sephora basket!
