Marc Jacobs Navy Noir, Orange Crush, Blue Me Away Highliners Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Marc Jacobs Navy Noir (76) Highliner Gel Eye Crayon
Marc Jacobs Navy Noir (76) Highliner Gel Eye Crayon ($25.00 for 0.01 oz.) is described as a “darkest navy.” It’s a blackened blue with lighter navy blue pearl shimmer that gives it a more pearled finish. It had fairly opaque pigmentation in a single pass that was buildable to mostly opaque coverage. The texture was creamy enough to glide on without skipping or tugging on the lash line. The color lasted for over fourteen hours without fading/smudging. Sephora Collection Suede Shoes (P, $9.00) is warmer, less shimmery. Marc Jacobs Beauty Midnight in Paris (P, $25.00) is slightly warmer. Sephora Collection Galaxy Girl (25) (P, $9.00) is blacker. NARS Night Flight (P, $24.00) is cooler-toned. Urban Decay LSD (P, $19.00) is more sparkly, warmer. MAC Night Trail (P, $20.00) is darker. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.
Marc Jacobs Orange Crush (78) Highliner Gel Eye Crayon ($25.00 for 0.01 oz.) is described as a “deep orange shimmer.” It’s a lightly brightened, coral-orange with warm, reddish undertones and pink and gold sparkle. It had semi-opaque color payoff with a really creamy, glide-on consistency–one of the creamier shades I’ve tried from the brand. It lasted for fourteen hours without any signs of wearing away. I couldn’t think of any dupes for this one from what I’ve reviewed/seen myself!
Marc Jacobs Blue Me Away (84) Highliner Gel Eye Crayon ($25.00 for 0.01 oz.) is described as a “light sky blue pearl.” It’s a brightened, light-medium sky blue with a pearly sheen. It had fairly good color in a single stroke, and it was buildable to more opaque coverage on the lash line in two layers. The color stayed in place for fourteen hours and didn’t show any signs of fading or smudging. Tarina Tarantino Kanzashi (P, $15.00) is darker. bareMinerals 4AM (LE, $15.00) is darker. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

I really wish i liked the formula of these, but they are so smudgy and don’t sharpen well. I am always surprised that others like them so much. what am i doing wrong?
I don’t know! Which shades have you tried? They aren’t really a smudgy formula to me!
All three are beautiful shades. I think Blue Me Away is my favorite though.
It’s pretty unique, too!
Are these safe for the waterline?
I’m not sure! I would imagine that more glittery shades are not.
From experience I can say no! I don’t know the names, but from that mini set released last year-I am able to wear the black on the waterline but a couple of the others irritated my eyes horribly.
ACK! I need all three 🙂
Poor wallet, lol!
What make up brand did you use for the orange crush highliner look? I loved the look 🙂 🙂
Makeup Geek
I grabbed the other navy blue..can’t recollect the name ATM. Crap, I want the light blue. It looks beautiful on the lower lashline. Very brightening.
Midnight in Paris? I am guessing!
dat’s it 🙂
What a great melon orange color! That would look great on deep skin.
It would!! 🙂
Christine, did you get the ColourPop highlighters?? 😀 😀 😀
I did purchase them! I’m sure it’ll take a few weeks to receive, though, lol!
Orange Crush is kind of beautiful.
And so unique!
Oh, I’m so glad these worked out! (And I’m glad they’re permanent as I’m on a no-buy for a few weeks! lol)
Yay!
Hi Christine, Will you be reviewing the new Dior Coral Sunset Blush that’s part of the Dior Tie Dye Summer Collection?
Sorry, I don’t have that.
Navy Noir is beautiful!
It is!
Just beautiful!!! I love all the looks you created here, but especially the second one with the orange liner!!! Now I know I need to order the new makeup geek shadows and this liner to be able to recreate it!!! Thank you Christine!!!!
Aww, thank you so much, Karen! 😀
The concept of orange eyeliner has literally never occurred to me before, but I think I can totally work this look! So summery and luxe looking
It can! I think it can be a little harder to wear compared to say… navy blue, but it’s more wearable than you’d think.
Ow wow..these are gorgeous! I’m going to need all three…and I have a feeling I will say that abut the remaining new ones. My wallet officially will be strangling me! At least they are permanent. But these 3 are great for summer! Ugh, I’m going to start playing the lotto! 😀
LOL! Thank goodness some of the new things are permanent 🙂
No doubt! Orange Crush, I have a feeling is going to be my first pick. I must say,I can’t recollect anything similar in my collection and it is stunning on the hazel eyes! Dear Wallet, please don’t murder me. Orange Crush must me mine by weeks end if at all possible. Be grateful you exist. I could have not purchased you and stored my bank cards, cash ,etc.in a rubber band or baggie. Be grateful you have a home. Love, the maker of the money and your mommy. LOl..Sorry..it’s late!
Oooooooooh, I love your orange look! Beautiful! And goes so well with hazel eyes! I think I’ve to get Orange Crush asap. I can imagine it pairs well with a navy shadow too.
Thanks a lot, Dorit! 🙂
Navy Noir looks amazing on the bottom lash line! I think I may need that in my life lol
It is a very nice navy blue!
Wow! Orange Crush was my fav but now that you reviewed it I really really love it….gorgeous on the waterline. I couldn’t wait for the review on peridot! Such a sucker for greens….bought it last week and already used it twice.
It’s really pretty!
Are you loving Peridot, Jenn?
Yes and it lasts forever!
I want them all! Ugh, my poor wallet…..
Awww!
some great additions to your ever-expanding eyeliner collection, LOL! 😀
They sure are!
Another pass – blue and orange just aren’t my colors!
I’m thinking they’d look kind of bizarre on my green eyes.
Oh, well; so far, this spring has been rather easy on my imaginary makeup “budget.” 🙂
Yay for your budget 🙂
I didn’t expect these to be this good! I’m in love with the Orange color!!! (And your eye looks!!!)
Thanks, Bonnie! 🙂
I love Navy Noir but think I’ll opt for a less pricey version. I do like the MJ pencils but find the price steep so I’ve only purchased one “every day” shade. If the price were lower (they are 30-31 dollars EACH here…don’t understand why the price discrepancy but either way, they’re a lot) I would certainly own more of them.
They’re pricey even at $25 here, but + 20% is brutal.
Oh how I love me some Highliners and all three of these are really nice. Navy Noir is especially calling my name as I adore Midnight in Paris and think navy liners in general are very flattering. The three looks you created are just stunning and run the gambit from understated and polished to super-fun and unexpected.
Thank you, Eliz! 🙂
Navy Noir is gorgeous and I don’t have anything like it, so I’ll def be grabbing it when my shopping ban is up! Hoping it works on the waterline, too.
Nice! 🙂
for me the navy is the most practical yet delightful eyeliner color! but I love all three!!!
Glad ya liked ’em, Yuan!
Can I just say I’m super excited! I know you mentioned that these typically have staying power but that’s all. So I’m really happy these are scoring so highly. I really hope the other shades score well too. If they do I see myself buying at least a few!
Well, they come in some pretty cool shades more often than not, too, lol!
But don’t worry, some less impressive ones are yet to come!
Orange Crush looks really beautiful on you! The contrast of MUG Fortune Teller with it is a pretty, and wearable look. Seeing it on your eye vs the swatch makes me curious as to how it would look on me. 🙂
Thanks so much, Pami! 🙂
So glad these got great reviews! And 14 hrs of wear, wow! Love the colors, especially the dark blue.
They wear soooooo long.
Navy Noir is a most divine colour – it is SO beautiful. I think it really appeals to any navy lover. Such a glorious colour.
It is really nice — not too bright, not too blackened.
Yeah, I think I’m gonna need Orange Crush. The blues are beautiful, too.
Haha! 😉 It is pretty!
I love orange crush! No dupes & a good performer?! Wow!! 😀
The emojis changed! 😛
LOL, we updated WordPress to the most recent version, and it appears to be a… side effect. Every time we update, it’s like a crisis (Temptalia has stuff built on WordPress of 9+ years ago, so you never know when something will break, though we are in the process of a full recode).
Nobody seems to make orange eyeliners!!
love these for summer! The only other orange liner I have seen is by GOSH cosmetics. It’s a wee bit darker, no glitter but definitely bright orangey melon. I can’t recall the name and I have yet to use it. It’s been sitting in my stash for at least a year LOL!!
I googled it (I’m so lazy, just walk upstairs..lol). It’s called Girl Power, it’s a velvet touch eye liner.
Haha! 😉
They really nailed the summery vibe with these!
I should try to grab Orange Crush. Orange shades in gel formulas are soooo hard to come by.
They are!
Incredible!! These shimmery eye crayon looks fabulous. I just cant wait to have one of each color. Great picks, thanks for sharing.
xx,
Sarah
Oh wow, I am SO glad that Orange Crush translates so well on the waterline! I was worried about it making the eyes look red and teary but it’s really pretty!
Love these! They’re stunning on you! I picked up Blue Me Away, Orange Crush, and Peridot during the sale and absolutely love them. Blue Me Away is such a gorgeous pop of color on its own, Peridot is just so lovely and complex on the eyes, and Orange Crush is definitely unique in my collection and a current go-to. The coral-orange makes my light eyes POP. These are my favorite pencils for doing ombre liner looks. They blend so beautifully together and add so much to an eye look. Love! I did something very similar to your last eye look the first time I wore them out (Armani Eye Tint in Jade on the inner corners blended into CP’s Snap Dragon through the inner third, CP’s Taco blended on the middle, and CP’s Ibiza on the outer third. I lined with Blue me Away on the upper inner corner and lower corner, blended and continued with Peridot, and finished with Intro(vert).
Sigh. Love these so.
All three are looking amazing, but the one that really cought my eye was Orange Crush. Not sure what it would look like on my fair skin, but still it’s the one I want the most of these ones.
Love your looks, gorgeous as always, Christine!
Blue Me Away is calling my name — it would be perfect with a lot of summer looks I do! Orange Crush is really pretty, and I’m glad they’re doing unusual colors, but oranges and yellows are very challenging for me to wear well… although I do do a sunset eye from time to time in the summer…
I’m so getting Orange crush for me 🙂 It is such a happy shade
I’m regretting not picking up Orange Crush now…but I had to budget myself and four was plenty. Judging on the reviews I’ve read so far though, looks like I made some pretty good choices. 🙂
Love, love, love. Although this settles the question about the dark blue – I like Midnight in Paris better for me. A cooler blue like Navy Noir tends to emphasise my undereye circles so I usually steer clear.
Orange Crush is slightly peachy toned. The Sephora + Pantone Tangerine eye pencil from a few years ago leaned fairly coral. I absolutely loved it colour-wise but the packaging was one of those weird hybrid plastic pencils and it ended up breaking, boo, so I threw it out. I have MAC Playland pencil in orange, but that is an in-your-face safety cone orange, not an everyday sort of look!
Gosh doesn’t seem to have the orangey Girl Power velvet liner anymore. Sleek MakeUP used to have a Pumpkin liner, but I’m not sure if it was LE or not.
And that’s literally all I can think of! I keep an eye out since I picked up the Sephora + Pantone one, because it ended up being unexpectedly awesome on me.
Any idea when these will be available in-store at Sephora?
Some readers mentioned trying them in-stores, so I think they’re trickling in!
I have the Midnight in Paris and Navy Noir – love them and they last all day on my teary, allergy suffering eyes. IMO, Blue Suede Shoes is a nice alternative, just not as long lasting. I think I should add Orange Crush to my Sephora basket!
Unnf that orange!!! <3 <3 <3 $25 for an eyeliner is a little out of my budget, but I needs it!!
