Marc Jacobs In the Buff & Midnight in Paris Highliners Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Marc Jacobs Beauty In the Buff (80) Highliner Gel Eye Crayon
Marc Jacobs Beauty In the Buff (80) Highliner Gel Eye Crayon ($25.00 for 0.01 oz.) is described as a “champagne shimmer.” It’s a light-medium, golden champagne with warm undertones and a pearly shimmer finish. It had semi-opaque pigmentation in one pass, which was buildable to full coverage in two to three layers. The texture was lightly creamy and didn’t tug at the lash line. On me, the eyeliner wore well for nine hours before it started to thin. Estee Lauder Pearl (P, $23.00) is lighter. Sephora Collection Girl Talk (P, $9.00) is slightly darker. Marc Jacobs Beauty Midnight in Paris (72) Highliner Gel Eye Crayon ($25.00 for 0.01 oz.) is described as an “inky indigo blue.” It’s a sparkly, blackened navy blue with lighter silver and blue shimmer and sparkle. It had semi-opaque color payoff in a single stroke, which was buildable to mostly opaque coverage. The texture was lightly creamy, but it could have been a little creamier for smoother, more even application. This shade wore well for nine hours before I noticed very slight thinning of the line. Marc Jacobs Beauty Navy Noir (76) (P, $25.00) is cooler-toned. MAC Metalhead (P, $16.00) is less shimmery. Sephora Collection Suede Shoes (P, $9.00) is less shimmery. Urban Decay LSD (P, $19.00) is cooler-toned, brighter. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

How gorgeous are these and how gorgeous they look on your eyes <3 I would want to own Midnight in Paris one day 🙂
Thank you! 🙂
These two don’t do it for me the way the previous ones you reviewed did. But I guess that’s good news for my wallet, lol.
Always looking on the bright side 😀
At this price point, it should be opaque at first application, but these colors are very pretty, my kind of colors. And I prefer eye liners with some shimmer, as they bring a nice sparkle to eyes
I can’t even recall if I’ve ever found a shimmery beige/champagne that’s swatched opaque in one go, haha.
😀 😀 😀
Which of the new MJBs was your favorite, Lotus?
Midnight in Paris is so pretty!
It is!
I might have to splurge on Midnight in Paris. No eyeliner like it in my stash. I like that’s it a bit more shimmery than Navy Noir, which I also love.
Oooh, nice 🙂 Surprisingly, the two are different – particularly in tone.
The In the Buff really seems similar to the Sephora nano liner – can’t recall the name but i’d go so far as to say a dupe. (again, it’s upstairs, too lazy to go LOL).
lol 🙂
I really like In the Buff, very pretty. Midnight in Paris is also bery nice, but not my favourite colour, for my colouring that is.
Midnight in Paris is more dupable, too, I think – navy blue is a more standard shade!
I have Midnight in Paris. I really like it. I was planning to eventually get Navy noir. But, it looks surprisingly close on screen!
They vary primarily by undertone, so it can look more significant (or less significant) depending on your skin tone + what you pair it with, I think!
I’m really excited about these extension to the range! The Black(out) was one of my favourite formula, and Buff looks amazing!!
Me too! 🙂
Gorgeous colours – and they really look lovely on you Christine. Especially the Midnight in Paris colour.
Aw, thank you Genevieve!
How is In The Buff on the bottom waterline? I have been waiting for Marc Jacobs to release a champagne shade. These highliners are the only ones that stay on my waterline and not transfer to my contact lenses.
It seems to be too close to my waterline color, because it was hard for me to detect it on… but I think it was one. I tested for wear on the lower lash line for the review, though.
I’ve been loving shimmery eyeliners like In the Buff lately. I may need to add that to my collection! I’m so glad Midnight in Paris is making a return too. It was one of my favorite shades in the holiday set
Me too! I love them for brightening.
I have Midnight in Paris, Navy Noir and Blue Suede Shoes and I wear all interchangeably. The Sephora brand holds it own with the more expensive Marc Jacobs brand.
It really does!
Love these, so pretty.
They are!
Even though it takes a little more to build, I do adore In the Buff! as I find it a nice alternative to a nude liner to open the eyes with a little more pizzaz! 🙂
I love beiges/champagnes for the lash line!
