Marc Jacobs Beauty The Dreamer Style Eye-Con No. 7 Eyeshadow Palette ($59.00 for 0.24 oz.) includes seven shades of warm-toned hues ranging from yellowed beige to reddish-brown along with a lot of gold and copper in-between. There is a good variety in finish, which is its strength; I liked that there was at least one darker shade, but I think one of the light beige/peach shades could have been substituted with a more mid-tone or transition kind of shade in a satin/matte finish (maybe like a coppery brown). Most of the shades had good pigmentation and were soft and blendable, though the palette is really one that should be used with a primer to get the most out of it, as a few shades were slightly powdery.

The Dreamer #1 is described as a “baked creme matte.” It’s a light-medium, yellowed beige with a matte finish. The texture was soft, silky, and blended well on the skin. It lasted for eight hours. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

The Dreamer #2 is described as a “golden tan shimmer.” It’s a light-medium, golden copper with a frosted finish. It had good color payoff that applied evenly and smoothly. It started to fade after eight hours of wear. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

The Dreamer #3 is described as a “French vanilla satin.” It’s a brightened, light-medium yellow with a pearly sheen. The pigmentation was mostly opaque, while the powder’s consistency was soft, almost creamy, and blendable on the skin. It started to fade after eight hours of wear. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

The Dreamer #4 is described as a “deep espresso matte.” It’s a muted, medium-dark brown with warm, red undertones and a matte finish. The texture felt silky, but it was a little dry and powdery, which made it harder to apply evenly as the color didn’t adhere as well to the skin. It faded a bit faster than the other shades at the seven and a half hour mark. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

The Dreamer #5 is described as a “warm peach matte.” It’s a brightened, yellowed peach with warm undertones and a subtle gold sheen. It had nice color payoff, while the texture was just a smidgen powdery, which made it a little harder to get true-to-pan color on the lid without it sheering down. It lasted well for eight hours. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

The Dreamer #6 is described as a “fiery copper shimmer.” It’s a pinky-coral with a lot of gold frost, which gives it a frosted sheen with strong, warm undertones. The texture was slightly dry, but it had fairly good color coverage. It started to fade after seven and a half hours of wear. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

The Dreamer #7 is described as a “warm gold shimmer.” It’s a medium, orange gold with a finer gold shimmer-sheen finish. It had good pigmentation, though the texture was soft enough that it was a little thin and powdery, where it really has to be gently patted onto the lid (and preferably, over a primer) to maintain its intensity. On me, it started to fade after seven and a half hours of wear. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

I hear ya! I really love the way his palettes swatch and look to the naked eye. I for some reason keep buying them. They just don’t perform as I think they should with that price tag and name. I wish I could find an equivalent with MUFE shadows in a nice little coordinated, portable palette.:)

Gah, I just love Marc Jacobs! The newer revamped perfume is so delightful! I prefer The Lover, which is it LE? Never could figure it out.. But the dreamer reminds me of the Vegas Lights Palette by MUG if you add a cappuccino. You look stunning and make everything work! This is not my favorite, though.

Ugh, right? The MUG Vegas Lights is SO much better in my opinion! Fun fact: I can’t wear MJB lipstick anymore. They wear fine but then leave my lips burning dry like the Sahara! Favorite 7s: Parisienne, Siren, Enigma, and The Tease. I’m still not sure if The Lover is compatible. 😉 3s: The Shoe Gazer, The Punk, The Escspist, and The Supreme. Those are my favorites. 🙂 <3

You’re always welcome! Every time you say thank you! FYI. And for sure, but my eyes are a light green Aqua/gray and I’m so pale, my veins give me color! All joking aside, I think something that I admire about his formulas are that they are adaptable irregardless of the lid color. So you can’t go wrong! But… In my preference of what I’ve loved seeing on you, the mod is a trio I would love to see you review and create a look! When you did a black, gray, white type thing with whatever it was, perhaps one of those ill performing mac studio trios, your eyes had such a difference than what what you mostly post and I thought it was so beautiful and soft while flattering on you. The Seductruss may be another! See, you have smaller eyeballs than I with tons of lid space. I have large bubble eyes that pop out though they’re deep set. So I don’t have a canvas for multiple colors as you. That’s why I love seeing what you do! It’s so different than for me and I enjoy experiencing it through you! Maybe you could do a decade or movie inspired series incorporating these eye palates into full looks after you get past 12,997 more reviews! 😉 Oh, and you’re welcome for the info about By Terry. Sharing is caring! And it’s what people share here that has helped me! In 10 days I’m celebrating 10 extra years of life (beyond expectancy) and I’m still going! It’s a struggle. But I come and look here everyday to be inspired by color and to read how others are, and it helps me maintain. So I thank YOU. Remember I almost gave up on everything beauty until I found your site and felt inspired to try again inspire of adapting with how I’d manage disabled.. I needed that, Christine. Beauty/Makeup/Care was such a huge part of my life and I’ve never said goodbye. I have more than I’ll ever use or could need but nothing else to do with it so it will die with me I guess. 🙂 I almost got rid of my MAC pigments and 100s of eyeshadows! But I took inventory and looked everything up again to jog my memory and I was like, whoa buddy.. I’m keeping you! You’re extinct! But that’s odd when so many could use it. I don’t live in an area where anyone cares about this stuff not do I trust selling sites so I’m stuck. I’m stuck with a snags Luminous foundation that is just awful too. Lol. Too late to return! Used once to try. I have spending problems yet it is my pacifier in a way. One day I hope I know what to do with everything. There’s always a chance for a other miracle or more so cheers to life, and the passion for makeup, skincare, and sharing! XOXO~ Lotus

OMG I love Marc Jacobs palettes. I have this knee-jerk reaction when I see them (want! must have!) and now I own every one of them — the No. 7’s and the No. 3’s. I hoard them like they are jewels! It’s ridiculous and expensive but Marc Jacobs is one of the only brands left that interests me.

Lotus Avatar

Hello! Sadly, I’m the same way. But.. I managed to not procure a few! That’s a huge victory for me! It does get on my nerves but I carefully pull out one and feel alright again. 🙂

Some of the colors run warm for me, but I love the sleek packaging and it has a very pretty combo of colors and finishes, good for an everyday look.

Fiery copper is how MJB describes # 6? I think not!

Not that I was interested in this palette anyway – blah even for neutrals – but really. Some accuracy in the PR, please, MJB!

Kat Avatar

These are the classiest looking palettes I’ve ever seen. The packaging is minimal, yet luxurious, and I love how slim they are. I have so many similar shades to these (and for the price I’d like them to be all A- at least), but I’ll look at some of the other colorways to see if they’re better in quality. I want that packaging in my life somehow!

I’m almost embarrassed to admit I just made my first Marc Jacobs purchase during the vib sale ( lipstick in Impassioned. Love it zealously. Lol the love is so deep it called for an adverb) Now that I’ve opened the door it’s ON! I want several of the color eye-con palettes, the ginormous bronzer omega I think? Many more lipsticks…..ok I want it ALL! That’s easier 🙂 Since I’m new to the brand and love it all any suggestions on where to go next? What would you pick? Btw, so many of those mac matte shades look AMAZING on you!! I keep intending to comment then someone needs my attention rightthatsecond!

Nancy T Avatar

Because these tend to be the types of shades that I already seem to gravitate towards and therefore seem to have a motherload of warm neutrals, or neutrals period, and this palette doesn’t make an A grade at that price point, makes it a *semi* easy skip…but I now have an even firmer resolve to get some of its dupes!
