Trailblazer
Makeup Geek Trailblazer Plush Lip Creme ($14.00 for 0.10 fl. oz.) is a muted, medium-dark mauve with grayer, more neutral undertones and a lightly glossy, cream finish. It had good color payoff with a smooth, cream-like texture that sat fairly well on the lips and only had slight settling toward the end of its wear time (three hours). The color applied evenly and was comfortable to wear, and I’d describe the feel of it as non-drying.
The Plush Lip Creme formula is supposed to be “highly pigmented” with a hybrid, “cream and mousse” consistency. The consistency has a very velvety, smooth feel that wasn’t heavy nor did it feel thin or watered down. It seemed to be quite flattering and forgiving when it was initially applied, but there were some shades where the color pulled into my lip lines while worn, and they only lasted two to four hours on me. They were more comfortable to wear than liquid lipstick that dries down to a matte finish, and the formula was mostly non-drying. They did not have any noticeable scent or taste to me.

Free Spirit
Makeup Geek Free Spirit Plush Lip Creme ($14.00 for 0.10 fl. oz.) is a bright, medium orange with warm, red undertones and a cream finish. It had good color payoff, though it was not opaque, while the texture had moderate slip, was light-medium in thickness, and spread easily. I did have trouble getting the color to stay out of lip lines, and there were minor streaks that would be visible if I pressed my lips together. On me, the color lasted for three and a half hours and left a stain behind. The formula was neither drying nor hydrating over time.

Wow, the color and finish are gorgeous! Can’t pull it off, but love how unique Thistle is. Free Spirit is gorgeous on you even if the formula could be better
Thank you, Katherine!
Free Spirit is a fun one!
It is!
I really like Trophy Wife; so, naturally, I already have Luxembourg, lol 😉
I like the brightness of Free Spirit, even though the color wouldn’t be good for me.
And Trailblazer would be a reasonable choice for me for this spring’s ‘nude lips’ trend, but I’d prefer the Amuse Bouche formula of Thistle.
I like the longevity of Thistle/overall feel more as well, even though these felt quite smooth going on.
Gotta know that, of course, my first pick is Trailblazer, right? Love these on lighter and darker peeps than myself, but will be doing a Bite lipstick try-on marathon to see about a darker grayed mauve like Thistle. If that works, well that opens Pandora’s box to that family of shades. CP Cheap Thrills DOES work on me, as does Maybelline Gone Greige, which I bought last night on a hope and a prayer that it would look good. And it does!
YAYYY!! Happy to hear Gone Greige works for you, Nancy!
Trailblazer is really pretty. I like the color of Trophy Wife, though I’m not crazy about the name.
The name made me cringe 🙁 Then again, so did a lot of the names in this range (a bit like some of Tarte’s recent releases).
Woah! Trophy Wife looks good, really good. Sad about Free Spirit settling into lip lines because it’ll definitely do the same for me. It’s such a pretty color too. Oh well, at least there’s dupes.
It was interesting how much glossier Free Spirit looked compared to the other two!
Trophy Wife is a real winner in my book. I’d probably be more likely to get the NARS dupe though. I also like Trailblazer but would probably get one of the Bite dupes.
Trophy Wife is a pretty color!
