Makeup Geek Shimma Shimma Eyeshadow
Makeup Geek Shimma Shimma Eyeshadow ($5.99 for 0.064 oz.) is described as a “metallic champagne.” It’s a brightened, light beige with warm undertones and a frosted sheen. It had excellent color payoff with a soft, smooth consistency that was incredibly easy to use. It wore well for eight hours on me. Charlotte Tilbury Fallen Angel #1 (LE) is less shimmery. MAC Satin Ochre (Left) (LE) is less shimmery. Anastasia Blush (LE, $12.00) is similar. Chanel Poesie #2 (LE) is lighter. Dior Cuir Cannage #2 (P) is less shimmery. MAC Just Gleaming (LE, $19.50) is similar. Charlotte Tilbury The Rebel #1 (P) is similar. Tom Ford Beauty Nude Dip #1 (LE) is similar. Make Up For Ever I514 Pink Ivory (P, $21.00) is lighter. Chanel Tisse Vendome #2 (P) less shimmery. Kat Von D Galore (LE) is warmer. MAC Butternutty (LE) is less shimmery. MAC Shroom (P, $15.00) is less shimmery. L’Oreal Iced Latte (P, $7.99) is similar. bareMinerals Mixologist (P) is lighter. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Makeup Geek Stealth Eyeshadow ($5.99 for 0.064 oz.) is described as a “matte true gray.” It’s a medium-dark gray with cool, blue undertones and a matte finish. It was soft but powdery, which made it prone to sheering out. It doesn’t adhere well to bare skin, and it is a shade I would only use with a primer. Alone, it lasted for seven hours before fading. Make Up For Ever M110 Cement (P, $21.00) is less blue. Wet ‘n’ Wild I’m His Breezey #3 (P, $2.29) is bluer. NARS Delphes #2 (LE, $24.00) is darker. MAC Interior Life (LE, $15.00) is darker. MAC Linger Softly (P, $21.00) is lighter. MAC Naval (LE, $15.00) is bluer, darker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
Makeup Geek Vanilla Bean Eyeshadow ($5.99 for 0.064 oz.) is described as a “light shimmer with peachy beige undertone.” It’s a light, warm-toned beige with a smattering of fine white sparkle (but it looks mostly matte applied). It had good color payoff with a soft, blendable texture that was just a smidgen powdery. It showed signs of fading after seven and a half hours of wear. Hourglass Atmosphere #1 (P) is lighter. LORAC Undressed (P) is darker. Too Faced Coconut Crème (P, $16.00) is lighter. Marc Jacobs Beauty The Night Owl #4 (P) is a smidgen lighter. Tarte Free Spirit (LE) is warmer. Tarte Just Malt Away (LE) is darker. Kat Von D Damned (LE) is similar. Too Faced Dream On (LE, $16.00) is lighter. LORAC Navy #1 (LE) LORAC Buff (P) is similar. bareMinerals Pacific Sands (LE) is similar. theBalm #24 (P, $6.50) is lighter. Wet ‘n’ Wild Naked Truth #2 (P, $2.29) is similar. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

>_< Stealth was the shade of eyeshadow I got in my first order from MUG (I'm a rogue – how could I not?!), and I have to say, you describe it perfectly!! I've held off on doing my MUG review, mostly because I'm trying to figure this shadow out to put up a look with it, LOL! So far I think it works best for me as a thing to smoke/smudge out liner with – that way it kind of sticks to the liner as well…
I absolutely adore the colour, though!!
That would be a nice way to make it work, I think!
Vanilla Bean and Shimma Shimma are some of my favourites!
Awesome! 😀
I use Shimma Shimma and Vanilla Bean all the time!! I use both for highlighting under the brow
I can see them being great for that 🙂
The mattes you describe as powdery and say won’t adhere well to your skin are actually the ones that work the best for me. I think it might have something to do with my very oily skin. Everything adheres, but some shadows stick so well to the skin that I just can’t blend them out. These “powdery” shadows never do that.
I actually really like all of of these shades, although they are pretty basic. I have no idea why I don’t already have Shimma Shimma.
I’m not surprised they adhere better with oilier skin! I have normal-to-dry (mostly normal, they only get a little dry when something irritates my eyes!), but I do have some mattes/satins that apply okay but just… stick wherever they initially land and not really want to move ever again.
Oily skin girl here too, and I agree with you. If I have a shade I know is a “sticker” going in with a little setting powder in the crease first helps a bunch. I usually set my crease as a matter of habit these days, and just use a sticky base on the lid or just under the brow if I want it.
Shimma Shimma is pretty, and fun to say. 🙂
Haha! It is ;D
Thank you very much for your helpful reviews, Christine!
I quite adore blue and gray mattes.
Love STEALTH! I wish it had better performance on bare skin, because I’d like to use it primarily blending in the crease.
It’s such a cool shade, but I agree, it would be better if it performed well all on its own!
I’ve heard such lovely things about Makeup Geek, but I’ve never purchased anything from them. That Stealth shade MIGHT get me to cough up some money, though. That is a beautiful matte shade.
The color is pretty unique!
Not such a fan of these colours because I think that most of us have these in abundance in the various palettes we own.
True 🙂
I think Shimma and Vanilla are good workhorse shades for highlight and base. Stealth might be ok for me, I have oily lids and always have to use primer, and some of the more powdery shades help soak up oil. I like that Stealth is not too dark, so can do a soft smokey eye for daytime.
Stealth is fairly unique, so it might be worth the effort 🙂 Especially since it’s already part of your routine.
I like the way Stealth looks but that formula sounds a little iffy. Like it’s a lot of work to deal with
It definitely requires extra effort!
Thanks for the the review and swatches. The MUFE dupe for stealth just skyrocketed to high on my list. I love greys. So hard to find a good one. I don’t own any makeup geek products yet. I think I am more interested in their blushes first. Maybe I will try a shadow that you rate high if I don’t have a good dupe. I am really trying to build my MUFE artist collection unless it is something that is truly unique and not dupable in the mufe line. Those shadow just really work good on my eyelids. 🙂
It’s so awesome that you’ve found a formula that just works well for you, Nicole! 🙂 That is how I feel about the Artist line. Most of them just… work. They’re easy. No fuss.
Exactly! Much less time consuming !:)
Shimma Shimma is the best shade out of the lot.. love its satiny finish but Stealth can be easily ignored.. I dont see myself using this shade.. 😛
Shimma Shimma was great!
Stealth is a really interesting color.
It is!
I’ve been wanting to try Makeup Geek eyeshadows for a while, but I never end up ordering! Probably because I’m not looking forward to custom charges and the likes. Oh, the hard life of a makeup addict in Europe!
Awww! At least they’re not too pricey, so hopefully the customs wouldn’t be too high!
Shimma Shimma is one of my favourites. It’s so beautiful – rich shimmer with just enough champagne-y gold that it isn’t too frosty. I love the shade and the formula!
I can see why Shimma Shimma lives up to the hype. I need it!
Shimma Shimma looks brilliant!
