Makeup Geek Secret Admirer Blush ($9.99 for 0.15 oz. pan; $12.99 for 0.15 oz. compact) is described as a “light orchid purple.” It’s a brightened, light-medium, pink-lavender with cool, blue undertones and a satin-matte finish. Milani Delizioso Pink (10) (P, $7.99) is darker, less lavender. NARS Mistinguette (LE, $29.00) is lighter, pinker. Urban Decay Quickie (LE) is darker, less lavender. NARS Gaiety (P, $29.00) is more matte. MAC Unconventional (LE, $21.00) is lighter, more shimmery. MAC Peony Petal (P, $21.00) is darker, brighter, more matte. MAC I’m the One (LE, $21.00) is darker, pinker. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

This is one of the more unique shades in the Makeup Geek blush range. It’s a color that is often a limited edition release, so it’s nice to have a permanent, budget-friendly option. It had excellent pigmentation, and the color is easily blended on the skin, so you can adjust the intensity as desired, whether you want true-to-pan richness or a soft, sheer wash of color. The finish seems matte, but it gets slightly luminous as it is blended and worked into the skin, which looks natural (rather than flat) but not shimmery. The texture was incredibly soft and finely-milled with a buttery, dense feeling that never turned powdery. When I wore this shade, the color stayed on well for eight hours before there were signs of fading.

You could try pairing it with a slight bronzer – it will add a bit of warmth, perhaps almost like a bronzer just above where you would contour and mixed with the blush. Otherwise, go for something really dark, smoky, and cool-toned on eyes 🙂

Thanks! I guess I did go with super dark violet hair for a while, and it wasn’t a disaster. I have the olive green undertones, but I don’t lean too pink or yellow, in my opinion, so I have been able to wear orchid elsewhere. Why not the cheeks?!

Stop being a pansy, Andi. (Wow, that was a bad pun and completely unintentional…)

LOVE THIS ONE! Reminds me of a pinker version of tony moly’s Milky Violet shade in the Crystal Blusher range, which is my personal favorite lavender blush. But I’m always looking for new ones and I am absolutely loving this. Thanks for the review, Christine. Now I have my next blush purchase set 🙂

That is a pretty and unusual colour. I’ll have to remember it next time I order from Makeup Geek. I just placed an order for some eyeshadows. Quite wallet friendly, I must say.

I hadn’t even thought of buying anything from Makeup Geek, I just found the online store and yay, they shipped internationally. I will absolutely check out the blushes after next pay check 🙂

This is a really adorable blush that can make any one look dolled up, and I love all the colors on your face it’s so beautiful.

How would you compare this to MAC’s Full Of Joy blush? I’m trying to justify buying it by telling myself it’s different. I think it looks more pink in your swatches? Who am I kidding, I’ll buy it either way, I love purple blushes. Thanks for all your hard work Christine!

I am soooooo getting this! Thank you so much I have been searching high and low for a dupe for NARS Gaiety as I did not want to fork out so much for it but I am absolutely obsessed with this colour!

Thanks to you, I’ll finally get MY FIRST pink-lavender blush. I’m so glad!!
I’ll use it with a bronzer (to contour) and this blush on my cheek bone. Or I’ll pair it with a dark smokey eyes (‘black’ or ‘dark blue’ or ‘dark grey’). And I also can mix it with other blushes to get other shades.

Hi, Christine! Random thought, I but I was wondering why you don’t smile much any more in your photos? I was looking at your posts from the past few years (2012 and earlier), and you looked much happier! Are you growing tired of so much swatching and product testing? Perhaps it gets old after you’ve tried so many makeup products.

I really appreciate the work that you do here, and try to share your blog with everyone I know who loves makeup. THANK YOU for providing such a big service to the makeup loving community! 🙂 You’ve really defined the beauty blogger genre with Temptalia.

I take my photos with a different lens, on a tripod, and at a different angle now – it’s hard to hear that you think I don’t enjoy what I do. I’m happier today than I’ve ever been — truly 🙂 A bigger smile doesn’t mean a happier person!
