Makeup Geek Midnight Sun Highlighter Review, Photos, Swatches
Midnight Sun
Makeup Geek Midnight Sun Highlighter ($20.00 for 0.25 oz.) is a soft, light-medium gold with warm, yellow undertones and a metallic finish. It had the type of finish that was very reflective, but it was so smooth that it did not seem to emphasize my pores or my skin’s natural texture.
According to Makeup Geek, the formula is supposed to be “super-smooth” and “incredibly pigmented.” Midnight Sun had intense, opaque color payoff that was still easy to blend, diffuse, and sheer out, if desired, on the skin. The texture was soft, smooth, and not too soft or too firm in the pan, and I felt like I could control how much product I got on the brush easily. It lasted for eight hours on me before fading slightly.

According to Makeup Geek, the formula is supposed to be “super-smooth” and “incredibly pigmented.” The majority of the range is beautifully done with smooth, slightly denser textures that are blendable and easy to work with. They have good pigmentation, though some shades are more buildable than "incredibly pigmented." Most shades lasted between eight and nine hours on me.

I do believe I am all golded out with MAC Whisper Of Gilt and Shaft Of Gold! But this is a beautiful option for those who may have missed out and love gold shimmer highlighter, too!
No way! All golded out, eh?
I want this, too, although I have Laura Geller Gilded Honey–stick and pressed powder, NARS Goldfinger which works as a highlighter and eyeshadow, NARS Foreplay which has the tiniest square of the most perfect gold, MUFE Gold metal powder, and did have a Becca split with Prosecco Pop which I returned in spite of it’s beauty, because it was reduntant, and things I’m probably forgetting! They just all look so good on me (NW15-20, NC20 ,38, green eyes, brunette)! And I love the way I can keep the brush going from upper cheekbone to the eye highlight and even lay this in my eyebrows. Have you tried any of the Wet n Wild gold bars? Also, love your eye look. Makes me think of Anastasia’s Modern Renaissance and MAC Flamingo Park. Good Lord, I want this highlighter!
Sorry, I haven’t tried Wet ‘n’ Wild’s Gold Bar!
Might be a tad too yellow for me but it’s really nice. If it was a touch softer I’d be tempted!
Bummer!
Wait- Makeup Geek is priced the same as MAC products.
I don’t know of any MAC highlighters at $20 myself…
Oh this is pretty! I’m a total sucker for gold highlighters, on my wishlist
Yayyy!
You look radiant!
Thank you!
In my humble opinion this one suited your skin the best from all the new makeupgeek highlighters you tried so far..
What a bummer to hear! It’s not one I’d reach for often myself, lol! Oh well.
This is really beautiful, even though not one of my usual colors…
It is a pretty one!
What do you think about midnight sun vs makeup geek eyeshadow magic act? Are they similar in colour and formula? you look stunning btw
The formulas are very different!
