Makeup Geek First Love Blush
Makeup Geek First Love Blush ($9.99 for 0.15 oz. pan; $12.99 for 0.15 oz. compact) is described as a “soft pale ballerina pink.” It’s a light, cool-toned pink with a soft shimmer. Surratt Beauty Guimauve (P, $32.00) is darker, more shimmery. Dior Rose (001) (LE, $56.00) is darker, warmer. Hourglass Ethereal Glow (P, $35.00) is similar in color but applies with more translucency. NARS Sex Fantasy (LE, $29.00) is brighter, darker, more matte. NARS Mistinguette (LE, $29.00) is darker, brighter. MAC Unconventional (LE, $21.00) is cooler-toned, more lavender. MAC Pink Buttercream (LE, $30.00) is more shimmery. MAC Lazy Sunday (LE, $20.00) is a cream product. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
It had good color payoff, and the texture was very soft, finely-milled, and smooth, though this shade was just slightly powdery. It had a soft sheen when applied and blended on the skin that became more and more luminous the more it was worked into the skin, but it never emphasized pores. I can see this particular shade flattering very fair, cooler-toned skin, whereas on my medium complexion, it might work if used lightly and paired with really dark, smoky eyes. It can also be dusted on as more of a light highlighter without lightening the skin too much. On me, this blush lasted for eight hours before starting to fade.

This looks very powdery somehow.. may be because the color is really pale.. Can’t really tell
It was slightly powdery when I was testing it, though it didn’t look powdery on the cheeks once applied and blended out. It’s not the kind of color that really works with my coloring, so maybe that is part of what is throwing it off as well.
Yeah I agree! This will look lovely on fairer skin tones! Pretty shade!
Definitely!
this one not on the list. I’m certain this shade would run too pale for my skintone, but I can see this looking incredibly pretty on very fair skin. It’s not sheer enough to work as a highlighter or a layering blush for me either and would end up just looking chalky.
I like the idea of it as a highlighter, but it is pigmented enough that it’s a little more work to use it that way if you aren’t light or lighter!
I managed to get my haul in this morning. I tried late last night, but traffic kept tossing me off website and crashing my order.. I’m so happy the blushes were still available when I got up this morning. Yay! (forgive my giddy excitement). Anyhow, one of my picks is shade Romance which I will use as a highlighting/layering blush instead. It’s a shimmery golden concoction that will look amazeballs on top of the other shades. I think it could be lovely with deep skintones as well.
So glad you got yours! I was nervous they were going to sell out really quickly, but it looks like they’re well-stocked and ready, even if the site was slower!
It is pretty, but it’d probably look odd on me since it’s so light, so I’ll pass on this!
Hopefully some of the others catch your eye 😉
Christine, would you say the blush compacts are similar in packaging to the single eyeshadows from Sugarpill? Or are the blushes slightly larger in size?
Kind of, but these are definitely larger than Sugarpill’s eyeshadows!
Blush wise defiantly best for fair skin, but I can see this working as a highlighter on medium/deep skin.
It takes some work, but it could be used that way (it’s quite pigmented!).
I was afraid that it might look chalky, but it does not. Interesting.
It’s very light, but it doesn’t really turn chalky to me — it’s just light, which was surprising.
It’s gorgeous and light. Would probably be nice when I’m really pale in winter.
I bet it would be!
Just watched MUG’s video on these and wow, I can’t wait to get them! Planning on getting 11//13 shades!
LOL! Which two are not on the list? Poor babies!
I am ULTRA FAIR and I love the idea of this blush!
It will be gorgeous on very fair skin!
This reminds me of Illamasqua Katie. (It’s my most natural looking blush.) Very pleased to see this collection has a shade that will work for my skin after it’s been such a pain in the butt finding these types of colors! Kudos MUG!
Woohoo! Happy for ya, Jacee 😀
I’m not too interested, but that aside, the packaging and name makes it seem so precious that I wish I loved it. <3
Aww, that is too bad!
Is this similar to Benefit Dandelion??? I can’t find a dupe that doesn’t oxidize too much.
I believe Dandelion is sheerer as well as a bit warmer!
Thank you so much; huge fan!
xoxo
