Make Up For Ever #26 Aqua Cream

Make Up For Ever #26 Aqua Cream ($23.00 for 0.21 oz.) is described as a “violet sheen.” This is a rich, vibrant red-toned violet purple with a satiny sheen. When it’s sheered out, it has a much pinker appearance (but still very purple), while when it’s applied more opaquely, it’s a rich violet. Tarina Tarantino Violet Storm is less red-toned. MAC Plush is less violet. MAC Violet is purpler, lighter. MAC Shock-a-holic is fairly close. Urban Decay Purple Haze resembles the sheer swatch. Inglot #439 is slightly purpler.

I was extremely surprised at how pigmented this shade was, because purple eyeshadows are absolutely notorious for poor color payoff! It doesn’t matter the brand–so many of them are lacking, but #26 is incredibly rich in pigment. You don’t need a lot of product to get opaque color, and if you want a really sheer layer of color, it’s possible–just make sure to use the barest amount and blend out.  Like other shades in the Aqua Cream formula, it dries pretty quickly, so I advise working one eye at the time when it comes to blending out harsh edge.  Once it sets, it’s there for good–I’ve had shades wear for as long as fourteen hours (I don’t usually test a single product that long).  #26 wore for a full eight hours when I tested it alone on bare lids.

Thank you for reviewing this one!!  I love my Aqua Creams, and I LOVE Purples, and as you noted, a good purple eyeshadow is hard to come by!  I’m so excited, there will have to be a trip to Sephora later this week!

In the photo above with the swatches, what is the difference between the swatch on the left and the one on the right? I’m guessing that left side over primer, but I’m not sure. Thanks!  (n_n)

@Christine (Temptalia) have you tried #19?
it seemed to be a pro color only or something, but if you have tried it how would you compare it to this one?
thanks!

@VioletStevens Then where is the red sheen? I’m pretty sure that MUFE has the capability of making a purple e/s without the blue sheen, they obviously put the blue particles in there on purpose.

@mimig323  @VioletStevens Haha I knew what you meant. I wouldn’t use this purple either. UD makes some great red based colors (last call, roach etc) but they’re not cream.

That is gorgeous! How much does it crease with wear? I normally use creams over a primer with powders over the top to try to minimise creasing, but creams do seem to crease more than powder formulas for me.

I reeeeeally think I need that though, it’s beautiful and complex!

I just bought this same one. I havent used it yet though. I bought it because i wanted some fun colors that were not pencil liner. Have you tried it as a liner? I was kinda bummed cause i really wanted #7 but i cant seem to find it anywhere 🙁
