Make Up For Ever S900 Marshmallow Artist Shadow (Blush) Review, Photos, Swatches
Make Up For Ever S900 Marshmallow Artist Shadow
Make Up For Ever S900 Marshmallow Artist Shadow ($21.00 for 0.08 oz.) is a light-medium, pink-lavender with cool undertones and a soft, satin finish. Makeup Geek Secret Admirer (P, $9.99) is darker, pinker, more matte. MAC Fizzy Rose (LE, $15.00) is darker. Urban Decay X-Rated (LE, $18.00) is a touch darker. NARS Gaiety (P, $29.00) is darker. MAC Feather Pink (LE, $15.00) is darker. MAC Unconventional (LE, $21.00) is more shimmery. MAC Full of Joy (P, $21.00) is slightly pinker. MAC Lazy Sunday (LE, $20.00) is a cream product, pinker. See comparison swatches / view dupes side-by-side.
According to the brand, this shade has already been discontinued, but Sephora still has it in stock–second to last row, seventh shade from the left–so I figured I better jump on the review for this one! It might be a bummer for anyone who loves a good pastel pink/lavender blush! It is a shade that is listed as an “Artist Blush,” and not as an eyeshadow. I see this shade working better on fairer complexions than mine, though I can get color to show up on me without turning chalky or ashy. The consistency was soft, smooth, and blendable, though I found a flatter, denser blush brush to work better with this than a fluffier one. I love the way the Satin finishes look as blushes, as it has a soft, natural sheen that never emphasizes pores. It wore well for eight and a half hours before fading on cheeks.

Thanks! I had this one on my list so I just picked it up in case. Looks lovely on you!
No problem, Celia! 🙂
Omg.. Nicki Minaj mac’d out a blush. :/ I had a Barbie corvette this color! I’d love to see this on the eyes!
If only it was eye safe!
One never knows.. Before they had those labels.. What did we do? We put it everywhere! They just want us to buy more. Use a primer! 😀
It’s suuuuuuper super light! I didn’t think it would look as pretty on you as it does, actually 🙂
I was nervous – normally something like this looks really white-based on me!
Christine, do you know if this is similar to Mac’s Well Dressed?
Well Dressed is pink, no lavender or lilac in it!
That looks surprisingly good! Very subtle.
It is a subtle pink-lilac!
This is beautiful! I love this kind of shade so much, i already own two of the dupes you mentioned- gaiety and full of joy, which i love. I still have a mind to pick this up though! you are welcome to dissaude me haha!
i meant *dissuade*
You could probablyyy skip since you have two of them 😉
I like how subtle it is on you. What is the diameter of the pan, and is it the same diameter as the ones considered eye shadow?
Same as the eyeshadows!
This shadow just lights up your brown eyes, it’s gorgeous on you!
Thanks, Erin!
Can you use this shade as an eyeshadow too?
In the U.S., they are listed as blushes, which likely means they aren’t safe for eyes. I don’t know about other countries.
Love this shade!
Yay! 🙂
What I shame it’s being discontinued. It’s so pretty.
So curious why it is discontinued already…
It is weird. Maybe they’re going to come out with an eye-safe version? (May as well be optimistic.) I would think this would be a popular shade among the young and/or fair skinned.
There are some shades that don’t seem like they should be blush-only (there are some light pinks and peaches – seemingly shades that have been done for eyes!), so maybe!
are there any other colors to be disc as well?
This is the only one mentioned to me!
It’s disconcerting that a shade has already been discontinued. Makes me a bit leery of developing my own palette lest I chose color(s) later discontinued.
Although, each pan is pretty big – it’ll probably be awhile before you finish one (and need a second one!).
It’s so pretty and light! Kind of like an illuminating blush in the truest sense of the word, LOL! I think it looks really pretty on you 🙂 I also like that they really nailed the colour-name thing. This is *exactly* the colour of raspberry marshmallows here ^_^. Or the inside of a chocolate fish, if you’re feeling *very* Kiwi.
Thank you! 🙂 I didn’t think it would look half-decent on me being so cooool!
This colour is so on point! I don’t know how I managed to miss it 🙂
Glad ya liked it, Stephanie!
Love this blush!! I’m very fair and this will work for me! Thanks for the heads up about it being discontinued. Quick question: what are you wearing on your eyes? Looks good with the blush!
THE MAKEUP LOOK
On face: Guerlain Parure Gold Foundation, Urban Decay Naked Loose Powder. On eyes: Make Up For Ever D716 Crystalline Papaya (inner lid), I520 Pinky Sand (middle of lid), I838 Slate Pink (outer lid), I834 Grape (crease), Urban Decay Rockstar Eyeliner. On lips: Estee Lauder Impulsive.
i think this looks beautiful on you as blush, christine!
Aw, thanks Anne! 🙂
I work at Sephora. This shade was discontinued because once we put this shade out on display, the lights began to drastically change and warp the color. Once we got the memo from MUFE to take it off the shelves, we could see that there was a clear line of difference where the top half of the blush was exposed to light. The blush went from pretty lavender-pink to an extremely pale, almost see-through pink.
Interesting — any insight as to why that happened OR if it was happening to other shades as well? So weird. Do you think they’ll replace it?
And you know, while we have you, are any other shades discontinued? 😉
Really strange. I’ll be sure to store it in a dark place.
Not sure of the reason (maybe a volatile/unstable/photo-sensitive pigment?), but it reminds me of something that happens to Maybelline’s Dream Bouncy Blushes–some of them fade to a yellow color! If I ever saw one in person I’d probably buy it.
I can attest to this! I saw this review and ran out to my Sephora that had (apparently) S900 in stock. It’s on display, and nearly a pure white color. I thought to myself, “this can’t be right… Christine’s photos are never far off…” I ask a SA to make sure it wasn’t just a random e/s that got moved around. Nope, it was S900! A completely different color than in this review. I have never heard of that, so strange! 🙁 I hope they fix it, because it looked like it was going to be the most beautiful blush on my fair skin.
Thank you, Lauren! That is so crazy…
Such a pretty pink!
