It’s a new, limited edition formula for the brand’s collaboration for Star Trek. I have next to no specific information regarding the formula, so I’m assessing it as a typical highlighting powder as they seem designed to impart luminosity over strong color (all three shades are described as sheer and have shimmer/pearl). This shade had sheer to semi-sheer coverage with a fairly soft, smooth consistency that blended out easily on the skin and sat well without emphasizing pores or the skin’s texture. I believe this is the lightest of the three shades that will be available, and it gives a soft glow to my skin tone (light-medium to medium, for reference) but may add a little bit of color on very fair complexions. This wore well for eight hours on me before fading noticeably.

The Star Trek collection will be available online on August 25th and in-stores September 1st (North America). There are two more shades–Strange New Worlds (sheer wash of golden coral pearl) and Highly Illogical (sheer wash of golden plum with fine pearl) also released.

I want this one so bad! I definitely want to get at least one item from the Star Trek collection (I have been a Trekkie since about the age of 3) and this one is the top of my list. Hope they don’t sell out and do the crazy limited quantity thing they do sometimes…

That’s one way to get a good rating – no overly descriptive descriptors so one can decide how best they like to use the product. Makeup the old-fashioned way! No doubt Spock will have his own take on this….

The outer case is so boring, the only way I can tell this is Star Trek is by that black triangle on it. C’mon, MAC, is that the best you can do? I like the marbled look of the product, but the swatch itself doesn’t look too exciting, although it looks perfectly usable. Does the marbling go away after a few uses or does it stay intact?

Way back, when it was on TV, I always looked forward to the beginning of each episode, when you see a black galaxy with millions of star, then you see the USS Enterprise space ship shooting through it. Maybe an outer casing that’s shiny black, splashed with tons of 3-D looking sparkly stars (like how the Alluring Aquatics collection looks like it was splashed with drops of real water), then a flashy looking Starfleet insignia on the front. And instead of this nice but bland powder, put in an interesting duo chrome sparkly one. As you can tell, I’m a little magpie, like my stuff shiny 🙂

Awww, I’m blushing like crazy right now 🙂 Hey, if that’s what it takes to knockout better MAC collections for everybody, I’m for hire. And I will work for makeup too !

BonnieBBon Avatar

I think m.a.c. should take you up on that offer! You have the knowledge, the taste and are a beauty junkie…..what more could they want?!? 🙂

RayRayG Avatar

??? This would have been amazing! I agree with Christine, they should hire you. Your description made me all nostalgic and excited lol.

This shade looks lovely. I like the swirling effect and fact that it is sheer? Interested to see the others in this collection.

I love this shade of lipstick on you, Christine!

Marlene Avatar

YEEEEEEEEEEEES, GWOD!!! I’m losing it right now, just imagine how PERFECT it would have been! Ugh, you should get a freaking award! I wasn’t really hating the packaging they settled for until I read your comment. Now I can’t get my mind off of the idea of communicator replicas.

Kylie5 Avatar

Will buy it for my collection because of the Look of it. It is not so beautiful so that I will nötig Need another one to use.

Nicole Avatar

I REALLY want the WNMHGB lipstick. It looks awesome on you Christine. Really I want it all because I’m a Trekkie but I’ll settle for that lippie. 😉

Ginny Avatar

Don’t think I will shell out $34 for this, but it’s very pretty and looks effortless to wear. I love your full face, you look like a Monet 🙂

Pteetsa Avatar

Yes, I also got Strange New Worlds. Highly Illogical was out of stock, but that one looked too dark for me, anyway (although I do like the name!). I also got three eyeshadows and a lipstick. There was a lot of demand. Things were selling out fast.

Jax Avatar

This is by far the favorite thing I was able to grab from this collection at Comic Con. I’m so tempted to get the other shades when this launches online.

In your opinion is there something special about this highlight powder to justify the purchase? I’m about n15 on mac range and didn’t see much of a luminosity or glowyness on this product (neither on your swatch or in others from google). I’m not sure…

BonnieBBon Avatar

I didn’t pay any attention to this collection because I’m not a Star Trek fan and I spent waaaaayyyyyy to much this month but I NEED that lipstick! It’s beautiful on you Christine!!!

Hi Christine, Thank you for the pictures and the review!
quick question would you know how this compares to Perfect Topping mineralize skinfinish from the Sugarsweet collection (2009). They look quite similar. Thank you again!
