Now that’s a quite expensive collection for Mac! 70$ for a quad? I’d rather add a few more bucks and go straight for a Guerlain/Tom Ford product.

I’ve heard that the floral design is actually fabric, so that + the Guo Pei name probably contributes significantly to the markup. It sucks from a poor student point of view, but I’ve also heard that the quality is significantly better than previous limited edition collections — we’ll see if Christine’s reviews show us that!

Hi Helena,
I just got off the phone with my local MAC store. They are expecting the collection for October. My SA has reserved the powder and blush for me. Try giving your store a call.
Mine is currently inviting customers to try out the new Water Weight Foundation, which is why they called! I am in Santander 🙂

$71.00 for a quad? The packaging is pretty but that price is nearly double what a MAC quad would cost normally. This is more than Chanel would cost. You can get huge MUFE pans of high quality shadow for less. MAC, you tried it!

While the collection looks beautiful in terms of packaging and some of the colors I am not paying $37 CAD for a MAC lipstick or $84 CAD for 4 eye shadows. I will definitely be passing on this collection.

The price differential has always been bad but it’s getting worse and it’s crazy! I may soon start buying all Canadian brands unless the dollar rallies (though that often doesn’t make any difference – even when the Canadian dollar was at par or stronger than the US one, we were still being gouged!)

I hear you. It seems like we are seen as less than or something. It is like companies think we don’t care to buy beauty items at a great price too. They may sell more in Canada if you put it at a lower price.

Uh oh, there goes the kid’s college fund. I’ve been eagerly awaiting this collection and will be up at midnight trying to snag something. Everything looks gorgeous

Not sure how to deal with this feeling; I’m actually quite tempted by a MAC collection! If the reviews for this are good I will definitely pick something up.

I had to hold myself back from screaming expletives when I saw those prices.

The packaging is beautiful, but with MAC’S track record lately I’m definitely going to pass. For the price I want more than just pretty packaging, I want a good amount of quality product to justify the Chanel and Givenchy-esque prices.

Unfortunately, the quality hasn’t been up to par for about half of their recent collections and I don’t want to spend crazy money on a 50-50 shot.

I wish MAC regular eye shadows didn’t make my lids itchy because that Night Sky quad is so pretty. I might pick up the Blue Fountain fluidline though, I’ve never tried one of those.

Also I wish the beauty powder wasn’t $70 because the description fits exactly the type of face powder I love (though I mean I am going to drop $90 on a lipstick pretty soon lol and I buy Guerlain Meteorites so).

Not really interested in the collection but the floral pattern in the background (larger than what’s on the products) looks alarmingly like the fabric on my living room walls (the people before us had more money than sense and had the walls of a quite large room “papered” in fabric; it’s the same shade and similar floral design to what’s in the background of the first photo!)

I do not like this packaging. Plus I’ve seen swatches of everything and I’m not impressed. The Prabal Gurung was the same pricing, but at least the packaging was pretty and pigmentation was there. I could justify paying a ridiculous amount…but this…no bueno.

As part of the designer luxe collection that they launch EVERY YEAR (it’s not a new), I vote for posting this same post WITHOUT the prices LOL! Then people won’t complain and MAC can just adopt an “if you have ask, you can’t afford it” policy Haha! 😉 BTW I already ordered a few pieces from this one, I couldn’t help it, the package is just too pretty. I didn’t get the whole thing because I’m not going to use it, I just wanted a couple pieces to add to my collection 😉

I got the highlighter, one blush, one lipstick and both brushes. That’ll do just fine for me 🙂 x

The Mac Pro South Coast Plaza store in California has been taking pre-orders. This is only for the US, but I don’t think it covers Alaska or Hawaii. I believe they have a $7 flat rate shipping fee, on top of the product cost. I did a pre-order with them last week, for a lot of the same items Dusty mentioned. You can try calling them at 714-751-2142 and inquire about it. I’m not sure about any other stores offering pre-orders. I read that the release was going to be limited to two stores (possibly at first?) and this was one of those two stores in the US (The other was in NY, and there were a few listed in various parts of Canada as well). Hope that helps.

Jilliene, I called and pre-ordered the Night Sky Shadow Quad (yaaaay!)The SA was very nice, and confirmed that only 2 MAC stores in the entire USA are getting this collection – South Coast Plaza in CA and one store in NY. It’s going to be nuts trying to get this collection online. Thanks again for the info!

Really pretty packaging. If I’m going to pay these prices though, I expect the quality to meet the same standards that I hold other HE brands that I pay that amount for. I’m not paying extra $ for a pretty package alone. I don’t see anything worth the cost unless it is. In the high A score range.

Beautiful but the prices really hurt! The quality of the shadows better be good in the $70 quads… And $30 for a Lustre or Cremesheen lipstick? No thanks, despite the gorgeous packaging.

Packaging is gorgeous, but I do not understand what is happening with the brush handles in the photos, nor do I at all understand the $84 (cdn) price tag for the quads or the beauty powder!!

I was going to get either the Red Water Lily blush or one of the lipsticks…. then I saw the prices and said Nope. I love the packaging and I love Guo Pei, but I just can’t spend the money on this one. 🙁 I’ll just wait for reviews and dupes on the two I want. *waves bye to the packaging*

Absolutely beautiful packaging, but those price points are totally scaring me off. Love those shades, too. GAH! MAC! Why so expensive?! (It’s the packaging, I know…)

The packaging is drop-dead gorgeous!!! I would absolutely love to get one of these two eyeshadow palettes ( or a blush! ) and a lipstick, too! But I’ll wait for your take on these potentially great offerings, Christine!

I’m really drawn to Ethereal Orchid! I’m not going to fight to get it, but I do love the packaging and I’m kind of enjoying collecting limited edition lipstick packaging. I know it’s silly and vain, but I just like the way they look!

The packaging is gorgeous but I personally am not going to buy anything from this collection because a) nothing wows me and b) the price, thats a hefty price tag for MAC.
Also does this collection look really familiar to anyone else? was this supposed to be released earlier or is it just really similar to another collection from last year? I don’t know I just feel like I’ve seen this before haha!

Pretty packaging, but unless one of the lipsticks gets an A+ I’m not going to buy anything from this collection, well maybe a blush, but it must also be exeptionally good.
I really think the collection is by far too expensive. and the cost here is at least 50% higher. Yeah, I think tis will have to be a no. Pity but I do need to eat 😀

This collection is stunning!!! I am seriously in love with the Morning Light quad, the blushes, lipsticks and cremesheens. I hope they perform well enough to justify the price markup for the packaging.

Oh my lord I am in love with that beauty powder! I’m situated in New Zealand so I’m hoping that I manage to get my hands on one! I don’t think I’ve wanted a product this much before! *heart eyes*

I’m very disappointed, Mac is known for their Nude lipsticks, and these are to dark for me, I love the Nudes, and warm blushes, Not excited about this one!

I’ve never been tempted to buy a makeup item just for the packaging alone. But, I may very well have to have at least a lipstick out of this collection!

In the United States, this collection will be at two stores, one in New York and one in the west coast (LA, maybe?). Will it be released in all MAC stores internationally?

The packaging is beautiful yes, but ALL the colors are nothing new…Amber lights? Really? I’m not paying $70 for a quad i can customize with the same colors at $10 a pop. Crazy. I love MAC and have been using them for years, but they are starting to lose me. I’m looking more in to Chanel and Tom Ford if i’m going to oay those prices. MAC is getting a bit delusional, you are not that high end.
