MAC Matte Bronze Bronzing Powder ($27.50 for 0.35 oz.) is described as a “bronze.” It’s a muted, medium brown with subtle, warm yellow undertones and a matte finish. The texture was drier, chalky, and powdery–but very thin–which made it difficult to get it to stick to the skin. It is better applied over still-damp foundation, but over bare skin, it is more difficult to use. It had semi-sheer color payoff that was buildable to semi-opaque coverage. On me, the color wore well for seven hours before fading. This shade is part of the permanent range. Too Faced Chocolate Soleil (P) is yellower. Tom Ford Beauty Terra (P, $65.00) is darker, cooler-toned. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

MAC Refined Golden Bronzing Powder ($27.50 for 0.35 oz.) is described as a “finely spun golden with soft pearl.” It’s a medium-dark, reddish-brown with warm undertones and fine gold shimmer. The shimmer tends to act like larger sparkle here, which means a lot of it doesn’t adhere to the skin and either gets dispersed in the air or trapped in your brush’s bristles. It had good color payoff, though the texture had a dryness to it that made it feel almost chalky to me. Despite the dryness, the powder was fairly blendable when I applied it to my cheeks, and it didn’t look too dry on. This bronzer lasted for seven and a half hours. This shade is part of the permanent range. Guerlain #03 (P, $53.00) is more muted. Guerlain #02 (P, $53.00) is darker. Tom Ford Beauty Gold Dust (P, $65.00) is slightly less red. Guerlain Bronzer (LE, $53.00) is more orange. Guerlain Moyen Brunettes (05) (LE, $75.00) is more matte. Wet ‘n’ Wild Bikini Contest (P, $3.99) is more shimmery. Clarins Splendours (LE, $35.00) is less shimmery, warmer. Le Metier de Beaute Sun Drenched (P, $55.00) is darker. See comparison swatches / compare dupes side-by-side.

Christine you are making me save some money with your reviews on this collection. There’s only a couple items I want now. LOL

Tis’ the season for bronzer it’s seems! Seems so in my vanity as well! I won’t be adding these as I am satisfied with some of the ones I have recently acquired. However, if I were on a slimmer budget and still looking, I may be taking a look at the Golden. It looks a little dark. But, with a fan brush of fluffly brush it may work. Might be great for darker skin tones too. Considering my dry skin along the dryness you detected..I likely wouldn’t like it anyway. But, since it is permanent, it’s good to sock it away in my brain. 🙂

Lol..great. Well, maybe I’ll scratch that idea then and stick with solid stand bys and wait for next year’s review if I decide to consider this. I’m not a daily bronzer wearer in the cool seasons so I’m sure I will not go through what I have bought. Thanks for letting me know. Mac can be so inconsistent. If I didn’t get to read your blog, I would say forget it..and I did boycott Mac for years for that reason.

After seeing everything from this collection, I will probably just go for Morange or Domestic Diva. Or both? Not sure yet. Really do appreciate just how quickly you got these reviews up for us!
