I agree. The quad is pretty, but it looks so dupeable. I also like the Fluidlines, but since they are permanent, I can wait.
A greyed lavender lipstick is boring? What you guys want? If MAC put “day by day” things, it’s boring, if MAC put exotic things, it’s boring too! I am confused :/

Speaking only for myself, one or two items that may be somewhat “exotic” doesn’t make a collection that is otherwise boring not any less. Besides, at least for me, it’s not so much that the individual shades are boring, but everything in this collection that I would actually wear are shades that have been done before. Maybe I just own way too much makeup, but I don’t see anything here that piqués my interest.
Those blushes look really interesting! I like 2 out of the 3 lipglasses.
I love the quad and the blushes ! But I’ll wait for ” Strenghten ” and ” Apres Chic ” I think.
It’s not the most unique collection, but I really am intrigued by both of those blush colors!
YES! Purple!!! I can hardly wait for this collection. Definitely interested in the blushes and mattenes. I was hoping that Nocturnal Instincts would look more grey, but hey, Jet is also suppose to be released with this collection.
Any info on the Strength collection yet? Looking forward to Firm Form lipstick.

Oh my god. Mac obviously listened to my prayers. I always, always wanted to have a real matte purple lipstick, I just so wished for it. And now they did it…I’m practically speechless with joy right now.

Same here, first set in a while I’ve been interested in but knowing the quality problems MAC has been having in their specials and that much is permanent or dupable maybe it’s a good dodge.

Sounds lovely but I don’t wear purples, pinks, blues.
This is the first collection I’m excited for in a long time. I definitely want the lavender blush and probably some mattenes. I’ll have to swatch them first.
Possibly the Unconventional blush. I don’t care much for the rest.
Mattene’s! But those colours 🙁 I can’t see any of them working on me, except maybe Night Blooming, and unless it’s got some colour depth, it will probably be too chalky.

My preliminary must-haves are Seductive Intent and Revenge is Sweet, but only if I can’t find the latter at a CCO.
The quad looks nice but basic, and Night Blooming and Passionately Tempted are gorgeous but dupeable. -shrugs-
I have both fluidlines already and the rest does not appeal.
I’m damn impressed by that photo. It has such a “Cabaret” / “Weimar Republic in the 1920s” feel to it. Really eye-catching. And it goes perfectly with the colours of the collection.

I agree as well. Love this promo pic. It’s hot, but I’m still not convinced that it’s a male and a female, and I believe that’s what they were aiming for.
Divenem, I think androgyny is exactly what they were aiming for. But even more than that, I think it’s “Cabaret.” The look of the model on the left, his hair and, most particularly, the hat, pose and outfit of the model on the right replicate the famous movie to me. And that movie was all about ambiguity in sexual orientation and in sexual desires, if not appearances as well. The model here totally has Alan Cumming’s hair in the Broadway version too. lol.
It probably sounds like I live under a rock, but I know nothing about Cabaret. I’ll look into it. Generally not a fan of musicals, but I am willing to depart if there is an interest in the content. 🙂
I am not recommending it necessarily. I am not a fan of musicals (AT ALL) but, that said, even I will admit that — stylistically and dance wise (the legendary choreographer Bob Fosse) — it’s impressively eye-catching in parts. I would just google a YouTube video of the main scene if you’re really interested. 🙂
Definitely check out the film, it is great- the content is complex and fascinating, and it is visually very rich and inspiring. Worth checking out! As far as this collection, I am loving the androgynous theme! Great with the lavender/purple theme… I am actually interested in a MAC collection, for a change.

Hmmmm – they just keep trying to force Carbon down our throats. Nothing here for me.
I know. I think I’ve used Carbon once in the 4 years I’ve owned it. It’s just too strong and dark for my porcelain complexion and hazel eyes that sparkle green when I wear cool colors.
I don’t like it because it’s just not a very good shadow – patchy, hard to blend and not even all that “black”. I’m glad I read reviews and tried it in-store before parting with my hard-earned cosmetic dollars!
it’s not a great black i agree, but it is awesome at making colours darker – for example I can do an amazing smokey green eye with feeling fresh (bright fresh green) and carbon. You just gotta know now to use it.
Sadly, I will have to pass on this collection. Nothing exciting enough for me to break from my budget.
I can’t wait for the blushes and mattenes in this collection, but seriously the promo pic creeeeeps me out. I think what Specktra members called this collection before they released the name ‘suits’ it perfectly.(Sorry, couldn’t resist!)
Is the depicted male really a male or female clenching her jaw? It’s definitely provocative with its androgynous appeal. I think it’s hot.
I’m pretty sure it’s a man. Chin, ears and the portion of his face that’s almost hidden look more like that of a man. Handsome & gorgeous in that sort of cold, chiseled statue way, but definitely androgynous! I think it’s very cool that MAC chose to use an androgynous guy wearing makeup in its photo.

I had to stop and stare for several moments trying to figure out if the photo was of two women or not and that makes me happy. I really go for the androgynous look.

and Seductive Intent Mattene lipstick, I love PURPLE!
I tested out the quad at Mac today (Mac counters have them to show the artists) and it was very dry. Def going to get a C or worst rating.
That’s a bummer. I love the colors in the quad. Oh well.
Am I completely “out of it” that I am looking for the perfect blue shadow. I want it almost black.

Tovah, I don’t think you’re out of it. I love that colour! If you don’t find that shade in this collection or if the eyeshadow here gets a bad review, you may want to look at NARS’ Night Flight. It’s a navy black with some smallish, metallic, cobalt blue micro-glitter. I have it, ADORE it, and have no fall out problems. NARS Night Flight is gorgeous. NARS China Blue could be another option, but it’s matte.
If NARS is unavailable to you, or if you really want MAC, Contrast or Deep Truth may be worth a look. HTH
I feel like Mac just puts in 30 minutes coming up with their new collections now. They’re just not as exciting anymore.
I felt that way about the Holiday collection with the puffy, pillowy packaging with bows. No. Just no. Nearly everyone of the products got poor reviews. It’s very disappointing. MAC used to be my favorite. Now I’m hot on Guerlain, MUFE and Illamasqua.
Seriously thought it said “MAC Taste Temptalia Collection” and I got so excited. Then I reread the post title.

I really like the collection’s colour story for the time of year it is intended for BUT with the performance of MAC the last 2 years, I won’t be purchasing anything.
I like how the shadowing on her skin (back, shoulder, hand) contains the colors in the collection. Subtle but impactful.
The only thing that bothers me about the photo is how just one ring finger is a totally diff. and paler colour nail varnish. I realise they wanted to show both shades but, honestly, my OCD can’t stand it! LOL.
Hah, I didn’t notice that until you pointed it out! Interestingly, I follow a blogger who did that during her engagement. Her ring finger always had a sparkly overcoat or a different shade on it from the rest of her fingers. 🙂
This is actually a very trendy and popular thing to do! You paint your ring finger a different colour. I love to do this 🙂

Seductive Intent and Revenge is Sweet definitely interest me, but I don’t know if I can put up with MAC’s crap in terms of releasing their collections. We’ll see.
I took one look at the quad, saw “Carbon” on the list, and went, “Nope.” On the other hand, the fluidlines and mattenes look promising.
Love it! They add Carbon in just about every quad. Why Mac why? It’s not that great and we can get it if we need to. New black shadows please!

Revenge is Sweet looks way more purple in this photo than the one I have (from Venomous Villains)! Also, could Look At The Eyes be a repromote from the In The Gallery quad? It looks like a similar shade.
I’m interested in Nocturnal Instincts and Seductive Intent Mattenes, although it depends on how close they are to their descriptions. Sadly, I doubt that Nocturnal Instincts will *actually* be a “greyed lavendar” (it’ll probably just be a fairly blah pink we’ve seen a dozen times before) and Sedcutive Intent will probably be another bright purpley pink – nice but not too original.
Unconventional Blush is the bigegst draw of this collection for me. Hope it’s good. I also hope that the rumours about this collection not coming to Europe prove to be wrong!
The magenta blush looks like it might be close to sleek’s pomegranate (just from the pic there)
I’ve given up on MAC-collections. The things I’m interested in are usually sold out within seconds. The hype and the annoyance is really getting old. I’ll still buy and use permanent stuff but that’s basically it.
Totally agree with the above. Their quality has tanked, especially their quads, the hype over the new collections is unwarranted, and then it’s impossible to get an item because they sell out ridiculously fast. I too will stick with the permanent items-tried & true eyeshadows & lipsticks, but I won’t even pursue the limited collection items unless I happen to walk by their counter & the item is by chance on display which usually means it’s in stock.
the quads coming out in the next couple of collections are suuuper nice and pigmented!

OMG!! Just when I thought I was done with MAC for the holidays you lay this on me lolol. I want those lipsticks, fluidlines, blushes and lip glasses. Grr!
their collections are just TERRIBLE. the quality of mac pales in comparison to everything else.
their foundations are about the same quality as most i’ve had from drugstores.
their eyeshadows are awful compared to urban decay, tarina tarantino, kat von d, some of too faced’s, even the new pressed ones by bare minerals.
their lipsticks are pretty good, better than most, but pale in comparison to ysl’s and are pretty comparable to bite beauty’s.
their mineralize skin finish is freaking awesome and i’m madly in love with it.
their mascaras are typical; just as good as most any other companys’.
i guess these statements undermine just how neat some of their products can be; for example, i’ll pretty much never buy anything but mac brushes. however, the collections are terrible and their eyeshadows are pretty weak. it’s annoying for a front-running company to fall so far behind in most areas and keep coming out with junk collections.
Omg I completely agree with you! I used to LOVE MAC products, but lately, the quality has severely diminished. Any quads people buy with their eyeshadows are terrible, and even individual eyeshadows from their collections aren’t that great. It’s honestly like they given up.
starting with glamourdaze collection, the quality of the products have gone way up. I’ve seen/tested the next few collections coming out (including this one) and they’re awesome!
I’m very intrigued by Unconventional. I’ve been lookin for a true icy lilac color and I’m hoping this won’t be super muted or pink.
You should have gotten MAC’s full of joy from the tres cheek collection. that was a pretty lilac and it showed up as so!

Honestly, I’m not that into this collection :/. There is one beauty item from OCC I have to pick up before the end of this year, but that is it!

You can buy it from 12-4 and then they take it off the shelf at 4 and re release it on December 13.

I adore MAC!! No other company has ever contributed to the love of mu like MAC!! Yes they have many collections. not all of them are for me they are not suppose to be! What works for me does not always work for you. Hello!! Because of MAC I have gone beyond my comfort zone learned what and how to use new and different products! Yes I venture into other brands but what u learned from MAC is invaluable

Was so excited about this one but today I’m shaking my head. What happened to the eyeshadow? I have the quad for this collection and it is just horrible, I had to wet it (I mean soak it) to make any kind of color standout, the blush unconventional is super as far as the blush choices go but a super disappointment today as far as this collection goes.
