MAC Sun Dipped Pro Longwear Bronzing Powder Review, Photos, Swatches
MAC Sun Dipped Pro Longwear Bronzing Powder
MAC Sun Dipped Pro Longwear Bronzing Powder ($30.00 for 0.42 oz.) is described as a “dirty red tone.” It’s a subtly warm-toned, medium-dark tan brown with a slight gray cast and a golden shimmer-sheen finish. Illamasqua Disobey is warmer and matte. MAC Golden is lighter.
Sun Dipped is just as fantastic as Nude on Board, which is always a good sign, because consistency is really an underrated characteristic. It has the same creamy, buttery, silky-smooth texture that elevates this product from good to great. The pigmentation is buildable, as described, and can be applied sheerly, semi-sheerly, or more moderately. This particular shade almost has a shadowy tint to it, so it might work as a contour for some (though I hesitate to mention that, because it is shimmery and contour powders tend to be more matte, but as this blends out, the shimmer turns into a very subtle sheen so it looks rather natural). When I wore Sun Dipped yesterday, it wore well for a full nine hours and only had slight fading after ten hours.

This is lovely. It looks so beautiful on you!
Do you think it would work on lighter skin tones too? I’m NC15 and I’m looking to pick up a bronzer for summer just to give me a little color and glow, but everything is always so dark. Do you know how this compares to Too Faced Milk Chocolate Bronzer?
Thanks so much! You are always so sweet.
Looking forward to summer!!
I think either would work, but you might like Sun Dipped with a light hand. I don’t have Milk Chocolate, sorry!
I think I’ll pick up sun dipped when it comes out and give it a try. 🙂 Thanks Christine for this lovely review!
for an NC35, would you recommend Nude on board or sun dipped or neither?
Warm tones can easily wear either, IMO! If you like your bronzers warm, then Nude on Board, but if you fear too much yellow/warmth, Sun Dipped.
Which shade of Pro Longwear Bronzing Powder would you recommend for an NC15?
P.S. Love the new look of the blog!
Warm tones can easily wear either, IMO! If you like your bronzers warm, then Nude on Board, but if you fear too much yellow/warmth, Sun Dipped. I wear Nude on Board the most (I’m NC25/NC30) but I only have subtle yellow undertones.
Thank you!
Thanks for your help, Christine!
I can’t believe this is just as yellow toned as the other pro longwear bronzer in this collection. How about releasing one bronzer for warm skin tones and one for cool skin tones, MAC?
if i were to pick one, which of the two would you recommend for a NC20-25 skintone?

Hi christine!
Can you give me your advice on a bronzer from the tempature rising collection? I’m NC50. I’m thinking soft sand or refined golden? Not sure about the pro wear bronzers?
Ps love the new site design 🙂
I will be reviewing those soon! But heads up – the ones I received for this collection do NOT feel the same as the permanent ones.
Thank you!
I hope you will review the strobe liquid too!
Christine.
How does this compare to Nars Laguna???!!?
I believe Laguna is darker!
This is also so stunning! I’m going to have a hard time choosing which one I want, it’ll be hard not to get both!
Oooo I would have bought this if I hadn’t just bought Nude on Board and Guerlain 4 seasons bronzer…
This looks great! I’ve been on a big bronzer kick lately – it makes me feel Summery lol. I can’t decide between this & Nude On Board. I will have to see them in person.
Omg I saw these in my store today! They put out fashion sets, baking beauties, in extra dimension and temperature rising. The Packaging for temp rising felt so awesome dang! I’m trying to figure out why I didn’t test the bronrs now…cha! Upset.!
Hi Christine,
Thank you for all of your posts 🙂 You work so hard at this and always have the best reviews 🙂 I ALWAYS read your reviews before buying anything!
Would you say either of these could be suited to very cool-toned pale skin (NW10-NW15)?
These appeal for their sheerness and texture, so I hope you have some good news! I would really value your opinion <3
I think Sun Dipped would work!
Thank you so much, Christine 🙂
Just ordered it (released last week here in the UK)!
I have Sun Dipped from last year’s sailor collection… I’m pretty sure mine isn’t shimmery at all. Can you compare the two? It’s my favorite contour, and if the rerelease is different I’m going to be incredibly disappointed!
Both of mine were shimmery from last year: http://www.temptalia.com/mac-hey-sailor-pro-longwear-bronzing-powders-review-photos-swatches
I love this! I have it on now (from the Temperature Rising event at my local MAC tonight!) and even though there’s shimmer, which is usually a huge no-no for me, it works really well! I used it as a contour and it looks really great. I’m quite light skin toned (NW 25) too and it’s not too orangey or obvious at all.
This looks so pretty on you! I love that it is silky to the touch my current bronzer is dry and you literally have to dig it out!
how do these compare to golden nectar highlight powder?
Darker, way less shimmery.
I love both Pro Longwear bronzers on you Christine! And I can totally see the difference!
Btw, website looks so sleek – as in clean, simple and straightfoward; not that I didn’t love the previous! Love seeing Temptalia keeps evolving! ★★★
Thank you!
Christine, do you think this bronzer would look good on a C35 skin tone? or do you think “Nude on Board” would work best?
I think this one would work for C35! Honestly, either should work 🙂
I am ridiculously tempted to pick this up, but I already have two bronzers I don’t use… Christine, how similar is this to the Mineralize Skinfinish Natural in Give Me Sun?
Give Me Sun is more red-toned!
More? Hmmm interesting! Yeah, I REALLY don’t need more bronzer!
Christine is this available only to pro customers? Can i buy it online once it drops? And how is this Sundipped different from the hey sailor collection? I saw both posts and think this one is much prettier. Thanks!!!
It will be available to everyone! Sundipped is the same 🙂
Hi Christine how does sun dipped differ from solar riche? I’m considering picking this up. I’m a nc15/20. Thanks so much!!!!
I believe Sun Dipped is a bit lighter and grayer.
I have a question in regards to the two Pro Longwear Bronzing Powder’s. Do you use them as an all over the face bronzing powder or do you use them as a contouring for the face? I have never used them before so I don’t really know how to use them. I saw your reviews and I would like to purchase them but not sure how to use them. I currently use Chanel’s cream bronzer which I love. Do you think there is a difference between the Chanel cream bronzer and the MAC bronzer’s that are do to be released on May 16th?
Thank you for your time.
Hi Candy!
I use them as bronzers, not contouring powders, myself, as I prefer grayer contour shades!
Hi Christine! May I ask you how it compares to Hoola by Benefit?
This is grayer!
I’m an NC30, and I don’t know if I should get Sun Dipped or Nude on Board. Which one do you recommend ?
I like Nude on Board myself!
just got this today,I was between this one or nude on board, at the mac counter i saw them side by side and this one is a nicer color, the other one was tooo orange, it was really dark, im nc15 thanks for the review
Dear Christine, what would you recommend for a NC30 skin, nude in board of sun dipped? I’m a bit tan, with yellow undertones.. Thank you so much! X
Honestly, either! I usually wear Nude on Board (I’m NC30).
I’m liking the shade of this bronzer, but I’m a tad bit scared to use bronzers as I’m fair-Nw 15 for reference, linen or alabaster in clinique. Would this be a good shade for me? and what brush would you suggest to apply it with? Thanks in advance
I think it could work! I use MAC’s 116 or 184.
