MAC Skin Nail Lacquer Review, Photos, Swatches
MAC Skin Nail Lacquer
MAC Skin Nail Lacquer ($17.50 for 0.34 fl. oz.) is described as a “light peach beige [with a Cream finish].” It’s a light-medium, muted peach with warm undertones and a cream finish. MAC Thimbleweed (LE, $16.00) is lighter. MAC Sweet Pop (LE, $16.00) more orange. MAC Pep Pep Pep (LE, $16.00) is lighter. MAC Peachstock (LE, $16.00) is more beige, darker. MAC Myth (LE, $16.00) is lighter. MAC Life & Beth (LE, $16.00) is lighter. MAC Hangin’ Loose (LE, $16.00) is lighter, sheerer. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
The consistency was just slightly thick, but it didn’t pool along the edges or take too long to dry (about average). It had semi-opaque color coverage after two coats, but the major issue with this shade was the streaky application and end result. I hoped that it would self-level, but no such luck, so it looked a bit patchy and streaky in places. MAC makes this type of color over and over again, but I rarely have great success with the formula. The bristles of the brush seem too sharp or harshly cut so they make it difficult to get really even, smooth color. I typically get a week of wear out of MAC’s formula, which is normal for me for most formulas.

It look’s like mini foundation 😀
I guess they got the name right then 😉
Passing on the price alone. Even OPI price makes me cry.
Yeah, MAC’s polish is quite high, relative to the rest of their range!
This is a really sophisticated color on you! Although I wish it was bit more cool toned.. that would look better on my tanned hands
Yeah? I never really like these kinds of colors on me. I feel like my hands always look redder!
You know, that’s what I was thinking – It would be a perfect mannequin nude polish for you, Christine, if it was a little less yellow-toned!
I kind of have to shrug on this – like ‘concealer’ nude lipsticks, I can’t summon a lot of enthusiasm/excitement for them! (Also, it’s certainly not ‘skin’ for this vampire, LOL!)
It’s a cool idea (mannequin hands), but it’s not really one that it’s appealed to me personally!
I like the color, but the name makes me think of zombies. Lol. I watch too much “The Walking Dead”.
LOL!
That’s a great nude for you! Too bad the formula/brush isn’t great.
Thanks, Melanie!
$17.50 for a nail polish… Oh my. “no suck luck” my thoughts exactly. 😉
(Spelling error, Christine!)
Fixed, thanks!
too orangey for me and not a MAC nail polish fan, would definitely pick up other brands before it at this price point.
I hear you – their polish (or brush) needs improvement!
If this wasn’t so pricey I’d buy it. I love the way it looks on you!
Thanks, Fancie!
Call me sensitive but I hate the name of this color as if they’re implying that this is the “ideal” skin color or only color of skin. What if you’re lighter or darker than that? Chocolate brown can be “skin” and so can ivory white. I expect more common sense from MAC.
I wasn’t particularly enamored of the name either, much like I don’t like the idea of “nude” = light beige. Nude is a *style* or an effect, but nude for you is not nude for me and vice versa!
I do like the way they finish opaque with a transparent gleam. 🙂
I wish all brands would start using an opacity system like Zoya! It’s all about expectations.
Way to warm for me!
That’s too bad!
I thought its a new liquid formulation for MAC foundi or something similar.. 😉
I could see that!
Jeez, didn’t other companies learn from Crayola when they changed the name of the “Flesh” crayon? Sigh…
I didn’t hear about that!
