MAC Prep + Prime Highlighters Preview
MAC Prep + Prime Highlighters ($23.00 for 0.12 fl. oz.) is a new and permanent product that will release in-stores on April 7th. There are three shades: Bright Forecast (mid-tone peachy coral), Light Boost (soft yellow cream), and Radiant Rose (light shell pink). They come in a twist-up, pen-type applicator. These highlighters are designed to provide a “sheer wash of color to highlight, brighten, and perfect.” Since it is a new product, I can’t review it without actually testing it — so I ask for your patience while I spend the next day or two testing out the wear. Please hold all questions until I’ve had a chance to actually test these out!
For now, here are swatches…
MAC Prep + Prime Highlighters
Seriously, last night I’d dreamed about a dupe of “Touche éclat” from YSL… and now my dream comes true 😀 (I know, this dream sucks but hey, it’s now reality with this highlighter !)
That’s funny! I was wondering the same thing – if these are MAC’s version of Touche Eclat. I hope they can function that way.
Just today I finally picked up By Terry’s Expert Touch pen – Which is her CURRENT version of Touche Eclat (a product she created herself when she was with YSL). I’m eager to test these as well to see how they compare to the two products but at first use, I like the By Terry product. It’s not quite the same… It’s more matte finish, smoother, less runny and more pigmented (though it comes in fewer shades than the YSL product).
I know you haven’t had a chance to review them yet, but would you be able to see how they act as concealers around the eye area?? The colors look pretty!!!
They’re very sheer so they could reflect some light perhaps or brighten but not conceal.
I think Radiant Rose will look really nice with my cool skin tone. I can’t wait to see what you think!
that last one you swatched is lovely! thanks and have fun testing!
WOW, it seems like every brand is releasing a new highlighter. How to choose!
can’t wait for these to be released! I love the Touche éclat and def love to have a dupe from MAC
How do these compare to the old Studio Lights?
I never used those, sorry!
I always love the products from Prep and prime line and I really have high expectations from these:) recently I thought that every brand has those pen shaped illuminators(which I have never tried to this day lol) and there comes my fav brand too:) I can’t wait for your reviews Christine, though I have already decided to love them:)
Years ago mac brought out something similar to this called studio lights. Does anybody else remember them? They weren’t that great so fingers crossed that thesemight be better
looking forward to your review =), my eyelids for some unknown reason are slightly darker than the rest of my skin tone and its very noticeable when I don’t wear e/s or concealer which can be drying, hope these are the answer to my problems!
I’d love to get the Bright Forecast for my NC44 skin! I think it’d work wonders on the medium-deep to deep skintones!
Which one would look best on nc20?
I know you are testing them right now, but I would like to ask you what do you think about the peachy one for the dark circles, used as a color-corrector.
Don’t know… It’s just a suggestion on the trying of these new products =)
I had this thought as well. I know you said they’re sheer, but perhaps you could try taking pictures of it as a corrector for your review, with and without concealer on top?
Wow, I’m so excited for this product! I can’t wait for your reviews!
how exactly would you use these?
this looks like a poor version of dior’s skinflash.
Very excited to read your review, although I don’t think I’ll purchase.
Oooh loving the look of these already!
Definitely got my eye on the peachy one…not sure of how to use it though…LOL!
Christine, do you think the “bright forecast”(peach one on the top) would work as a apricot/peach blush on light skin??? Thanks !
Please hold all questions until I’ve had a chance to actually test these out! Thank you!
testy! why do you seem on edge?
I’m neither testy nor on edge – I specifically stated in the post to hold questions because I really can’t answer anything about how they work, if they work, etc. when I haven’t had the opportunity to test them yet!
Also the very light pink one seems like a very good potential under-eye brightener to use before the concealor…
cant wait to see a review.. hey christine if possible could you do a tutorial on how to use them.
thanks xx
After you try them, please let us know if the pink one it´s similiar to strobe cream!, tx!
Can any of these be compared to Benefit High Beam or are they too matte to provide that dewy glow?
I know this has nothing to do here, but have you picked a winner yet for the MUFE giveaway?
Yes, I picked a winner and the winner confirmed last night – I announced it on Twitter! 🙂 I’ve been doing MAC stuff all day long so I haven’t had time to catch up on anything else.
YSL Touche Eclat copy cat lol. I love Touche Eclat and MAC is a cheaper brand than YSL so I really hope this works :))
THANKS FOR THIS CHRISTINE!!!!!!!!!
It’s about time Mac came out with this. They are a little late on the Touche Eclat knock-off bandwagon… better late then never 🙂
I can’t wait for the review!!
I’m eager to hear how they compare with MAC’s studio moisture concealer, which I looove
OMG MAC MAKES SOMETHING LIGHT YELLOW?! *buys 10*
Wait how many collections is Mac gonna release in one day ? This is overkill Mac. We don’t need multiple collections in one day – give Christine and other bloggers a break please
Three — Primed for Perfection & Bronze Everyday are smaller launches (the latter with a lot of permanent products) and all products are permanent, then Quite Cute, which is not that large of a collection (decent-sized for sure, but it could be worse, ha!).
ill def hold off till i see your full review and grading. but i usually cant use highlighters as i have very oily acne prone skin and im already one big highlight LOL.
This looks very similar to boots no 7 radiant glow concealer which is awesome
Cool!
it’s already available here in korea
Love the pink one!
I love the idea of these product.. but I don’t want to pay about £15 for what is essentially less than 5ml of product.. 🙁 saddening!
this is the most excited i’ve been about a new mac product in a long time. i really love these types of products especially the pale one. looking forward to your review.
would it be crease proof? i really need something other than UDPP!
when is this review coming out?
When I finish testing them out 🙂
I remember MAC brought out these kind of highlighter pens years ago. They were an absoolute staple in my kit, until they were sadly discontinued. I hope these are just as good, if not better than the original.
Hopefully we get to see the review today 🙂 I am so excited lol. And I don’t think its that big of a deal them coming out with 3 collections in one day, seen as how 2 of them aren’t very big. The Radiant Rose is so pretty. And so is Light Boost. Cant wait!
