MAC Pistachio Creme Nail Lacquer Review, Photos, Swatches

MAC Pistachio Creme Nail Lacquer ($16.00 for 0.34 fl. oz.) is described as a “light teal mint [with a cream finish].” It’s a pastel, bluish aqua with a cream finish. Cult Nails Manipulative is a couple of shades darker. Chanel Riva is bluer. Zoya Wednesday is several shades darker, slightly greener. MAC Mischievous Mint is greener but similar.

It’s a very spring-themed color, and mint is certainly a trendy color at the moment, too, but MAC ruins the color with an awful, streaking formula. The consistency was slightly watery, and the formula applied streaky from the first coat, but even a second coat applied with visible streaking. I even tried applying a few different ways and times, even trying three coats, but nothing made it look better (the swatches show two coats, for reference). The color coverage seemed like it would be mostly opaque if not for the streaks and watery patches. This polish did want to pool along the edges, so you really have to make sure to keep your fingertips level.

I don’t really care about the formula, to be honest… nobody looks at my nails that closely! It’s a pretty colour but I feel like it’s not that unique. I’m still tempted though!

For anyone who likes these light, pastel white-based colors – L’Oreal’s Versailles Romance (for spring or summer 2013) line has six beautiful shades. In the US, $5.99 each. I’ve tried a few of them, and I think the formula is excellent. No, I don’t work for L’oreal, either.

Does the online release date apply to macys.com too? Or do I have to wait till the release date for in store to pick it up at macys.com? Thaks in advance.

That looks awful! No one can complain about the application because you always apply flawlessly! Such a shame since the color is beautiful.

My annoyance at the crappy formula for the price is overshadowed by my annoyance at the fact they named it Pistachio Creme when it is in no way pistachio colored whatsoever. On that merit alone I wasn’t going to get it, but with the streaky formula on top? I don’t think so!

Wow, terrible formula, since I can actually see the streaks, this is a nice color but with such a horrible formula not worth it for me.

This colour looks almost identical to an old Sally Hansen Insta-dri colour I have (can’t remember the name) that was opaque in 1 coat and cost about $3. I’ve never gotten the hype with MAC polish. I’ve tried a couple and found they left a lot to be desired, especially for the price, and especially because they’re almost all easily dupeable.

Been looking for a color similar to this and everything was sold out except this… They had two bottles left at Nordstrom and I just got one despite them being gone forever (according to sales lady). The formula is streaky but I really like the color and am hoping it gives me that trendy look with out wearing clothes this color 🙂

I disagree with this review. I ordered mine online and it was totally fine. No streaking, even color..
I absolutely love the color as well but I do think the name of it is sort of misleading. I thought that it would be more green.
