MAC Beet Lip Pencil
Three Classic Lip Liners for Your Many Reds
MAC Marilyn Monroe Lip Pencils ($16.50 for 0.05 oz.) sees the promotion of three permanent shades: Beet (vivid reddish-pink), Cherry (vivid bright bluish-red), and Redd (clearly red). They come in glossy black boxes and have a glossy black exterior on the actual pencil, as compared to the typical matte black packaging for both the box and pencil. MAC is charging more for this difference–these three shades can be purchased for $15.00 each normally, because of the glossy packaging, MAC is charging $16.50 each for these.
- Beet is a pinky-red with a matte finish. It would pair well with Love Goddess.
- Cherry is a barely blue-toned medium-dark red with a matte finish. It could work with Charmed, I’m Sure or Deeply Adored.
- Redd is an orange-red with a matte finish. It would pair well with Scarlet Ibis.
The Lip Pencil formula is supposed to be used for “shaping, lining, or filling in the lip.” The texture is described as smooth and creamy, while the pencil itself is long-lasting. I wouldn’t describe them as creamy, though they’re not totally stiff and rough or anything, but they’re just somewhat smooth and creamy. The drier my lips get, the harder I find these are to apply and to apply smoothly/evenly. All three shades are plenty pigmented, and you can get even color coverage. I like these as a standby lip liner, as they do wear long and well (six hours or longer) and work well underneath lipsticks to prolong the wear (one of these easily adds an extra hour or two).
Keep in mind, online retailers like Nordstrom, Macy’s, Dillard’s, and Bloomingdale’s will also launch the collection online. These retailers typically launch close in time to the in-store release date (October 4th).

I think you burned out my damn retinas on that last one.. yow! (O.O)
I *love* the intense black liner on your waterline here! So beautiful. Is that MAC Smolder eyeliner?
I was a little confused by your description in “What Makeup Are You Wearing?” because you say that you’re wearing dazzleglass on your lips…
I know this isn’t the right place to post this, but I thought you’d want to be aware of your pictures being used without permission

Thanks, Jamie!
Oh those earrings are super cute Christine!!!!!!!!!
Dear Christine, which one do you prefer for your look? I think they all three look great on you, but totally different! And: your teeth are wonderful! What did you do and which products do you use? Thank you for your reply.
I very rarely use lip liner, so if I do, I go with whatever matches the lipstick I’m wearing at the time! 🙂 I use white strips every 6-8 months or so!
Hi Christine! I wanna know what’s your lipstick/gloss used in your twitter profile pic. 😀 i can’t find it! 🙂
I don’t remember 🙁
Hi, is the longevity anything like their pro longwear lipliners? Thise are my favorite 🙂 thanks!
Pro Longwear Lipliners wear a little longer, but they’re similar.
Hey. What blush are you wearing? It seems to go with anything you put on your lips.
Hi Christine! Would the Redd Lip Pencil pair well with Morange Lipstick?
It could work – it will turn it a bit redder.
I just went ahead and bought all three in regular packaging. Saved 4.50.
I just bought Charmed, I’m Sure and actually it’s really beautiful with Beet lip liner!!
went to the MAC website and like the MM collection was sold out BOOO 🙁
I really love the Cherry one! Im definitely getting that on my next trip to a MAC store.
P.S: You look really pretty in these pics but your eyeliner seems a little bottom-heavy… try doing liquid liner on top and winging it out a little 🙂 that would look even better!
that would look great!
Hi Christine, would Ruby Woo look good over Cherry?
I think so! Cherry might not be blue-based enough, though.
Hi Victoria!
Ruby Woo is my all time favorite and most used MAC lipstick. What I like to do is pair it with MAC’s cremestick liner in red enriched. It is absolutely stunning. You should give it a try 🙂
Hi chirstine are the 3 lipliners permanent?
The shades are, yes.
Hello! I couldn’t figure out exactly where to post this so hopefully it’s alright with you! I’m trying to find a dupe for MAC’s “Raquel” from the Raquel Welch collection circa 2007. It’s my absolute favorite lipglass and, sadly, I’m running out of my last backup. Any suggestions?
