MAC Marche aux Puces Eyeshadow Duo
March on Past This One
MAC Marche aux Puces Eyeshadow Duo ($27.50 for 0.09 oz.) contains two shades: Chessa (mid-tone golden orange) and Indie Spirit (chestnut brown). This is a new, but limited edition (aren’t they always?) duo from the latest Styleseeker collection.
Chessa is a bright pop of tangerine-orange with golden orange sheen. It has a veluxe pearl finish. The texture was soft, so it applied smoothly and evenly, while the color payoff was good. OCC Mimosa is very similar. Dior Aurora has a shade that’s more golden. Maybelline Fierce & Tangy is a smidgen lighter and has less shimmer.
Indie Spirit is a medium brown with red-orange undertones and a matte finish. This was fussy–it did not want to yield good color payoff, because it was really dry and stiff. When I applied it to the lid, it was easier to use and with enough product, I was able to get it to show up. It blended out better than I anticipated, given the stiffer texture. MAC Soft Brown is darker, less orange. MAC One to Watch is a smidgen less red-toned and shimmery. MAC Tete-a-Tint is very similar in color–slightly less red-toned.
Indie Spirit is such a let-down in texture and color payoff. It’s a little better during application than when just swatched, but it really takes some effort to get it to show up properly. I had to go back three times in order to get decent color; my best advice is to work in small areas at a time, because it doesn’t deposit and then blend out. Chessa is very pretty and would work well for both summer and fall. It also would pair well with reds, berries, and burgundies. When I tested these shades, both lasted for eight hours without creasing, and I only had some minor fading with Indie Spirit that was just barely noticeable.

Hi, Christine. I always ask your foundation and get my answer as MUFE hd foundation. Can you do a tutorial about how you apply your foundation? I am also using mufe hd but it looks patchy somehow, and I want it look like a little bit dewy or at least smooth on my face?
Hi Pleinair,
I have done videos of this on my YouTube channel! They are years old, but I pretty much do it the same way 🙂
They should’ve released Chessa by itself! That’s a beautiful color that I haven’t really seen before and despite its setbacks I’d probably buy it.
I wish you could build your own duos with their LE shades!
That, Christine, is a very good idea. Customizable LE palettes!
Exactly! Man. I just want Chessa… this is why they do this isn’t it? Cheeky wotsits..
Hmmm… Debating this because I love orange shadows with my complextion and this just looks like it will take the cake. I just can’t get past how the other shade swatched. I might just have to try it.
Let us know if you get a chance to try, Amanda!
I’m amused by the fact that this mediocre duo is named “Marché aux Puces” which means Flea Market in French. 😛 (OT: I think you may have mislabeled your lipstick in the picture? It looks too matte and red to be the Bobbi Brown pink lipgloss you have listed.)
MAC Eden Rouge!
Come on MAC…
Pfff, I wanted to love this… I just really like the color combo.
Do you think MAC Soft Brown + Amber Lights would be giving a similar result?
It won’t be the same, but it will be similar. Rule would be closer for an orange, but it is a matte.
Hi! how chessa compares with fresh daily from the call me bubbles quad?
Fresh Daily is more orange/darker – not as golden! http://www.temptalia.com/mac-call-me-bubbles-eyeshadow-quad-review-photos-swatches
I am definitely passing on this one. Can’t see the colors except for the closeup photo.
LOVE Chessa. Wow, what a gorgeous color!
Chessa is cute!
I know! Too bad it’s paired with something less stellar 🙁
Beautiful colours, not very original though, I’m afraid I already own colours similar to these with much better colour pay-off.
Most likely!
Chessa is really pretty!
It is!
This looks IDENTICAL to a Screen Couples duo I bought last August….is it a repromote?
I AGREE!!! It’s so similar that I returned it and purchased the Screen Couples Duo from the outlet for $10 cheaper!!!
Hi christine! I’m a huge fan of ur site and it’s so amazing how u reply to every single comment! Really appreciate that. I actually had a completely different experiece with this duo, especially with indie spirit. I found that mine seems to be a lot creamier and pigmented than what you described, even though my skin tone is almost exactly the same as yours (NC25ish) i found that the other duos in this collection were way too dry and poorly pigmented though. Out of the four duos I swated, I found this one the creamiest, most pigmented and work best together. I just need to add a brow and inner highlight like brule plus a little bit of carbon on the outer V and voila! I got myself a complete bronzy-smokey eye look! 😉
I’m so glad it worked for you, Veeva! 🙂
ive looked @ nordstrom,mac,macys,saks,bloomingdale.. there sold out…..please can you sell me your, mac duo eyeshadow-marche aux puces-from the styleseeker collection.. pleeeeeeeeeeease… thank you.
