MAC Makeup Art Cosmetics Collection: Lipsticks Review, Photos, Swatches

Front Lit, High Strung, Hold the Pose, Lovin’ It, Full Body Lipsticks

MAC Makeup Art Cosmetics Collection:ย  Lipsticks

Five different lipstick shades are available with the MAC Makeup Art Cosmetics Collection: Front Lit, High Strung, Hold the Pose, Lovin’ It, and Full Body. None of the new lipsticks really called out to me–they were a bit too blah, I suppose. I actually found Front Lit the one that intrigued me most, just because it has a very pretty shimmer to it, but it’s certainly not a must-have. Lip swatches will be posted tomorrow ๐Ÿ™‚

Lipstick ($14.00)

  • Front Lit is a sheer, frosty gold shimmer shade. It doesn’t add much color, but it does add a lot of shimmer.
  • High Strung is a sheer brassy rose with golden shimmer with a frosty finish. This is a permanent shade.
  • Hold the Pose is a sheer brown-plummy shade with soft golden shimmer and a bit of glossiness. It has a lustre finish, which is why I was expecting it to be sheer. It gives my lips a bit of a rosy plum look, but otherwise, it doesnโ€™t add much to my lips.
  • Lovin’ It is a neutral brownish-coral with a light frosty sheen. It’s a lustre finish, so it applies sheerly.
  • Full Body is a semi-sheer, dark plummy shade with red tones. Also a lustre, this particular shade does pack a bit more color than the average lustre finish.

  • Product: 8/10
  • Value: 8/10
  • Ease of Use: 7/10
  • Packaging: 8/10

Recommendation: Muted, fall tones reign supreme in this collection–if you love the lustre finish, then definitely check these out!

Wow…talk about a sheer wash of color! These are not up my alley…I like lipsticks to have good pigmentation even in lustres like the ones from the euristocrats II collection. Hmmm…now that I think about it…I am lemming for London Life which seems a much nicer shade that I may grab in place of the l/s from this collection…that is if my freestanding store still has them in stock!! (fingers crossed)

I bought Lovin’ It and Hold the Pose yesterday. I think they are both beautiful colors! Lovin’ It actually looks more like a dark rosy color on my lips and not the brown coral look it has on Christine’s lips.

LOL…I loved the way it looked on your lips in the pic. That’s the color I was wishing it looked on my lips. But I’m actually lovin’ how Lovin’ It looks on my lips now. I think I mihgt pick up a back up for this.

I picked up Lovin It and it is a gorgeous natural rosy color. I didn’t get a brown coral either. I’m NC35. Looks great with Notable blush.

a couple of these look interesting…I have so many lipsticks I am trying 2 only get the Unique ones from now on. I cant wait 2 see the lip swatches

I was really excited for the new collection. But when I went to Macy’s I was not very impressed. I had a list of things that I wanted to check out. As always, there were many customers and not enough staff to man the area. I was interested in Hold The Pose and Full Body lipsticks. Neither looked good on me and the sales associate was not helpful at all. Hold The Pose was very blah and Full Body looked weird on my bottom lip. I walked over to Chanel and bought two great lipsticks that I fell in love with. Vamp (plum red) and Russet Moon (brown red). The ligsticks are creamy and very pigmented. The sales associate was so nice and she was justing pulling out lipsticks for me to try. I’ll admit the price tag was steep. But I always have problems finding lipstick still not top lip is darker than my bottom. These lipsticks are perfect.

I think the lipsticks were a real flop today — and Chanel always has amazing lip colors, so I’m not at all surprised!
