MAC Love Me Lipsticks | Swatches
The new MAC Love Me Lipstick ($19.00 for 0.12 oz.) formula launched this past week, and here are swatches of 18 more shades (I’ve also included the original five I had and have already reviewed). I don’t have one shade–Let Them Have Cake–sorry!

If I get nothing else, you can count on me getting Nine Lives! Love the shade immensely, and that name, too!
There are quite a few shades I love in this new formula. I still wish that French Silk had been a deeper, less white based pink. More like Hey Frenchie or Under The Covers. Both are more universally flattering than French Silk.
I feel stupid, but I don’t get these. Do they have to be used with the primer, etc. for the “crafted lip,” or will they work alone as regular lipstick? I.e.: Not have too much slip, not bleed, etc.
I’m kind of loving Nine Lives and My Little Secret.
I’ve reviewed five already (the last five shown in this post), and there’s a full formula overview as well – they are a lipstick.
From MAC: “Love at first swipe! Fall in love with an argan oil-infused formula that delivers an instant hit of powerful colour and all-day moisture. The True-Colour Gelled System of ultra-refined pure pigments evenly disperses bright, smooth colour for high-impact one-swipe payoff. A combination of lightweight oils and specialized waxes makes this lipstick feel luxurious, super-silky and barely there. The ultra-gliding formula lays down beautifully in a thin film for a creamy and conditioning texture. With a weightless feel and satin-soft finish, Love Me Lipstick loves you back.”
From MAC for “usage”:
“Apply directly to lips as desired.
For non-bleeding colour, prep lips with Prep + Prime Lip.
Apply with a 316S Brush for extra precision.”
It sounds to me like they’re just trying to get people to think they have to buy Prep + Prime, too!
Seraphine, that’s what I was thinking. For some reason I was getting all confused from the copy.
Thank you, Christine. I missed some of the explanation in the reviews. I’m still having some brain fog issues. It was sweet of you to copy all that over for me, and I’m sorry I caused you more work.
It’s not a problem, Rachel! 🙂
Rachel R. it was VERY confusing copy! someone with MAC named Chantel Miller released this statement saying, in the same breath, that these lipsticks were meant to be perfect in one-swipe AND that they were supposed to be used with a liner and gloss.
Thanks, SaffyTaffy! I don’t feel quite so dumb now.
I swatched these while in Spokane this week. They were out of several shades already so while I liked them I couldn’t get the ones that I wanted. Having said that, I don’t love any enough to go through the on line ordering and worrying about melting in the summer heat. My favorites were Nine Lives, Give Me Fever and You’re So Vain. The sales associate and I were discussing who the individual immortalized in the song You’re So Vain. I would have put money on Mick Jagger at the time but Carly said it wasn’t him. I think she auctioned off the name to raise funds for a charity and swore the winner to secrecy. Anyway, the SA was searching during our conversation so may have missed a couple in the drawer.
The formula felt very slippy when swatched on my wrist so there is that also. Definitely more slip than my L’Oreal Rouge Shines.
Apparently MJ did some of the b/u vocals, but it is not MJ or JT. The only one Carly acknowledged, though she says it is about 3 different guys, is, no big surprise, Warren Beatty. All time classic.
Yup – Warren Beatty was the subject of the song. I think I’d known that for years. What an image – “you walked in to the party like you were walking onto a yacht…”
If the formula felt more slippery than L’Oreal Rouge Shine, it’s probably too slippery for me. I’ve had my eye on Hey Frenchie, but I really don’t need it. I thought the consensus on You’re So Vain was that it was written about Warren Beatty.
Under the Covers looks soooo beautiful!
Very curious to see if I already have some dupes in my collection.
The finish looks very smooth as well!
I know the name of Coffee & Cigs is … a choice but that color is calling out to me. It looks scarily close to Glowing Jen from CT though …. so I hope I can hold out.
I was just thinking to myself, “why did THAT have to be the sheer chocolate-pudding realness of my dreams?!” I have such an aversion (phobia?) to those things I don’t think I could wear something named it. But it’s so luscious.
Quite a few similar shades here I think and it’s really all about nuances of pink. But I do like Shamelessly Van.
SO MANY beautiful colours here – Mon Coeur, Hey Frenchie, You’re So Vain (looks like it could be a dupe for my beloved Givenchy Fuchsia in the Know), As If I Care, Killing Me Softly…I could go on because I love almost all of them. I hope MAC’s advice to avoid having the product “bleed” is just an attempt to sell their lip primer rather than a necessity for using the product.
I swatched a couple of these yesterday, and they felt wonderful! It was a different texture, in a very good way. It’s hard to describe, but they felt more creamy and “substantial” than other Liipies.
The payoff in one swipe was perfect.
Gorgeous finished and WONDERFUL colors! I’m so thrilled they kept the tones on the deep side across the board.
Some of these have the same “vanilla bean” specks that Chanel eyeliner had! I wonder what that is?

Hmm…. Coffee n Cigs looks more plummy than MAC’s description led me to believe.
Thank you for the swatches!
