MAC Hush Cream Colour Base ($22.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “soft peach with icy shimmer [with a Frost finish].” It’s a warm-toned, peachy-beige with a frosted sheen. If you’re unfamiliar with Cream Colour Bases, they’re designed to be a multi-purpose product that can be used on eyes, lips, or cheeks. They can be used under or over foundation, as a sheer “veil” of color or yield “highly dramatic” color, “depending on method of application.” Hush is part of the permanent range, so if the packaging doesn’t sway you, you can save $2 by going for the regular, black compact version instead. This shade lends itself to highlighting easily, though on fairer skin, you may see some warmth come from applying it, too. The consistency is creamy, lightweight, and very blendable. The effect is luminous, dewy, and doesn’t seem to emphasize pores. It only lasts about six hours on me, but it is a product that can take a translucent setting powder without totally getting lost, if you need better wear.

I have far too many dupes for this already. I get suckered in by these tones alla time and it’s not the best highlighter on me because my skintone is right at the margin..not quite dark enough or light enough nor warm enough to do this justice…or something? It just falls flat on me. For some yet to be determined reason, I keep trying.
I know exactly what you mean! If it’s too mathcy-matchy, it doesn’t work as well.

I’ve had Hush for about 5 years and it gets a good amount of use, year round. It works when I’m winter pale for warmth on the cheeks, not a lot of colour, and summer is a great highlighter or illuminator.
For reference, I’m about nc15/20 in winter, in the summer I go up to MUFE Face & body 34 (never been matched for MAC in the summer). Yellow undertones with a bit of peach, medium warm brown hair, hazel eyes.
I love the color of it – if it lasted just a bit longer, I’d reach for it more, I think!
This is my favorite highlighter for everyday when I just need a bit of “something something” on the cheeks! 😀 This stays a good 6 hours on me.. but then I apply it only to drier areas like the C around the eys and down the bridge of the nose, and the face just glows! I am so tempted to get it in the new packaging..!
It’s about the same wear on me, but I wish it was longer!

While I don’t purchase from MAC anymore, I always had a soft spot for their Cream Colour bases and Hush was one of my favorites.

What would you want to do with it? Virgin Isle is fun but that’s more of a cheek color!

The packaging on this collection is to die for! MAC should re-do their line in this design (minus Pedro’s name, of course). When I heard Hush was part of this collection, I thought “Money saved. I’ll just buy the perm version!” But I MUST have Hush in this packaging ::LOVE::
With some of the regular complaints from readers regarding NARS’ packaging, I’m not sure if it would be a wise move (since it is very similar!) if MAC’s could be similarly problematic over time! I haven’t had any issues with my NARS’ packaging, but I don’t carry it with me on a regular basis so it doesn’t have as much wear and tear.
Thanks, Christine. I hadn’t heard about issues with Nars’ packaging (and I don’t collect Nars). I’ll have to read up on that. I typically don’t travel with my makeup, either. The exception is lip products. Other than that, I put it on and then return each item back to its place. If the packaging is especially nice, periodically I remove pieces and just admire their beauty. A girl can dream!
I was considering grabbing this but I think I’ll pass. It’s beautiful but pretty dupable.

Y’know, it’s weird but I’ve never bought a single Cream Colour Base in all the years I’ve been using MAC products. Just something about the creamy texture – wouldn’t want to use it on my eyes (creasing) or on my cheeks (blending it would remove my foundation, if I were wearing a cream/liquid product or be hard to use with a powder foundation). It’s just never been something I’ve wanted to try.
They don’t dry down, so they can be an interesting product to work with!
Cream color bases from make work great on the eyes with MAC pressed pigments on top. Great for a glittery smokey eye!

Looks exactly like All that glitters, I should try using it as a highlighter. I just got Lightscape and I have never used highlighters, so I have to figure out what type (liquid, cream or powder) works best for me. Would love to see a good tutorial on the subject. I copied your guest feature on contouring and use it as my bible!
It depends on your skin type and what you use as your base (liquid, powder, cream, etc. foundation). Powder is always easiest for me, though!
This is a product I have been thinking of buying for ages, but I am still not completely sold on the Cream Colour Bases. The few I own don’t really do much for me.

I know that the size is .12 oz (the same as the regular CCB size) but is the packaging the same size as the regular CCB as well? I know the Diamonds CCB was the same size as a blush but that it was .17 oz. It’s weird but I only want to buy this one if it’s the same size as diamonds regardless of how much product is in it…
