Hot and Heavy

MAC Hot and Heavy Opalescent Highlighter ($34.00 for 0.35 oz.) is a medium gold with warm, peachy-orange undertones and a frosted sheen. It had medium, buildable coverage with a soft, smooth texture that was dense but not stiff to work with. For those who want a more gradual, buildable glow, this shade might work for you, but for those who want an instant, more blinding highlight, it’ll fall short. The powder was blendable without too much effort and sat well on my skin without emphasizing my texture. It wore well for eight hours on me before fading slightly.

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Thank you for understanding!

I was so hyped up for his latest collection. The MAC artists I spoke to were raving how pretty it was. Then… I saw it. I am skipping this one. I am tired of these kits and hope MAC never brings them back after his year is done.
Your makeup does look beautiful. If this is the quad from the collection it looks beautiful on your eyes.I have enough warm toned shades though and $50.00 for the kit isn’t worth a bronzer.

I know I have dupes for this…so *why* do I still find this one so incredibly tempting? Seriously, I have ENOUGH highlighters to last me till I’m 80! Yet. I’m digging this soft golden glow instead of my very shiny ones… ?

What does opalescent refer to in this product? Is that what makes it frosted? Is that an actual category description in the makeup world or something MAC just made up to sell this product? (I’m a total noob, obvi.)

That’s the name of the formula – you know, like “Extra Dimension Skinfinish” is a formula name.
