MAC Flighty Collection: Overall & Recommendations

MAC Flighty Collection: Overall & Recommendations

My general recommendation is not to purchase the Big Bounce Shadows if you want to wear them alone. If, on the other hand, you want to wear them as a colored eyeshadow base, then I think it may be worth considering a shade or two. I do think that with the plethora of cream products out there that are long-wearing, I would opt for some of the more unique shades within the sixteen or perhaps a shade you’d wear very often.

The colored mascaras, based on the two I have tested so far, seem worth checking out, but Zoom Lash is a thicker, denser formula, and those who prefer really defined, crisp, but long, lashes may find it too much.

When it comes to cooler/warmer skin tones, these are products that lean noticeably cool/warm and therefore complement the corresponding skin tone better (but it does not mean you can’t wear a warmer product if you’re cooler!).

I asked two different MAC SAs their opinions on the Big Bounce shadows and one gave me the standard PR spiel and I couldn’t get out of her what she actually thought about them. The other guy when I asked him about them he finally admitted that he wished they would have been in paint pot form. It didn’t seem like any of employees were actually excited about them. :-/

LOL! That’s funny, because I got a very similar response from my MA. My MA is amazing and always tells me EXACTLY what she thinks of a product. She won’t sugar-coat anything. So she flat out told me that these new cream eyeshadows stink. She said that they’re not worth it, especially since they don’t perform the way they are supposed to.
I’ll be skipping on this whole collection. At least my wallet can take a break…at least until Surf Baby! 😉

they should just relaunch these in paintpot form. cuz their an excellent color selection. i hope they listen to use an do it in the future. i might just get 1 to try it out when they come out. dont know what color yet. i have an appt with the mac artist their so she can do my whole face and put on the big bounce eyeshadow so i can see how they work with them.

Its definitely a product that a MAC Artist needs to sit down and talk about with a customer. We got to play with them at update and I really do like them. They are fantastic for a sheer wash of color. It took me a few minutes with a few trial and errors to really get a feel for them but now I cannot WAIT to show this to my customers! Heres a tip- put some Fast Response Eye Cream or a Paint Pot underneath, it intensifies the color

Thanks Kitty for this comment. I understand that this is “”PR”” but hey, even PR should know how to make it work like we have! yes, at update, I was instantly in love and the Fast response eye cream really does make a difference when using these! I have a youtube channel and I will be showing how to work these!! Paint Pots dry as a powder which makes for a great base!! I hate whn people give bad reviews when they obviously know nothing abt makeup artistry. Thanks Kitty!

Reviewing a product has nothing to do with “knowing nothing about makeup artistry”. These aren’t PRO products. They’re in the regular line. Thus. Even someone with little experience should be able to use it. I’m a former MAC Artist and this has to be the most silly thing I’ve ever heard a MUA say. Just admit it’s a product that takes more work than MAC portrays. It happens. It’s not a huge deal or an insult to the company. Ultimately the majority of your customers “know nothing about makeup artistry” and are more in the average range than superior. It’s not the reviewer or consumers fault it doesn’t live up to what it claims to do.

How disappointing that these aren’t all that good. I was looking forward to them because I usually love cream shadows because powdery products and I just don’t mix that well, and by MAC? The idea was awesome, but alas. At least my wallet will be thanking me.

I used sizzling diva on the entire eye lid and aound the eyesocket(without a primer) as a highlighter. I then applied tan pigment on top it came out beautiful. It gave me a gorgeous glow as I am nw45. I think these are better as highlighters or to add shimmer in select areas.

So i’m an MA for MAC, and i played with these at update. Didn’t like it much then cos of how sheer they can be but with the brush it is def better. But when i played with it at home i liked layering it over a paint pot but a small layer. i also used it more as an accent. It’s beautiful on top of shadow but say in the middle of the lid and color built around it. If you love shimmer these are awesome to add an accent of shimmer. Prettier than some pigments:)

I was given a sample recently at my MAC counter. The woman told me that she just used her finger to apply it over a Paint Pot and that worked best for her. All I did was put some Too Faced Shadow Insurance on first and then I dabbed some of the Big Bounce Shadow on the back of my hand and patted a little at a time onto my lid until it was as dark as I wanted it to be. I was expecting the worst because of the bad reviews, but it actually lasted all day w/o creasing and on a very hot day, no less. I was shocked.

It’s strange cuz my MUA who flatly told me that dazzle lipsticks were stupid(especially the latest blue one) said she loves them. She actually recommended using a shadow first and then using the big bounce over that, and not using a primer/base at all.
